The red brick, former textile warehouse turned gallery space, designed by AIA award-winning architect, Tom Kundig, sits on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Complementing exhibitions in the CSU Department of Art’s acclaimed Norman Shannon and Emmy Lou P. Illges Gallery, the Bartlett Center serves as an experiential learning center and cultural hub for the visual arts while affording visitors a broad range of arts experiences offered within the College’s arts district. As part of the College of the Arts’ Corn Center for Visual Arts, the Bo Bartlett Center is a pivotal element in the continued emergence of a national and international presence. The Bo Bartlett Center aims to enhance the cultural and educational environment of the university and the community. We strive to provide access to art through exhibitions and cross-disciplinary programming that promote the appreciation and understanding of the arts. The Bartlett Center annually rotates six to eight diverse regional, national, and international exhibitions in its galleries. I overheard that this shop will soon be relocating to its new home inside of J&M since this building will become luxury condos (side note: what isn't becoming condos?). I didn't have any intention of buying something for myself but ended up leaving with some jewelry, oops! If you've been to The Beehive in Atlanta, The Local Market reminds me a lot of it. And we'll have St. EOM (née Eddie Martin) to thank, for it is he who received divine inspiration to build this site, Pasaquan over his former farm. It took him 25 years to do this. It will take you an hour's worth of touring to thank him for it. The grounds is a mixture of indoor and out, Buddhist and Christian symbology, iconic and abstract representation, primitive and futuristic, arts and crafts. What it is purely throughout is inspired. Georgia is very blessed to have two visionary sites (with the more well-known Paradise Gardens by the Reverend Howard Finster in Summerville), and these photos give an idea but are no substitute for being there. That said, it's only open for the first Saturday of the month from April to October, along with a 2-day festival on the first weekend in November, so plan accordingly. Also plan ahead for lunch and money for admittance/souvenirs/donations, because there's nothing anywhere around except for you, a beautiful, sacred site, and some very shaky cell phone signals.

Amazing to see the size of this war ship from back then. Various other items steam engine parts, flags, swords, uniforms, tools, and so much more. THE NATIONAL CIVIL WAR NAVAL MUSEUM IS INTERESTING…read more================================================ My husband and I had some time while waiting for our son to get off work at Fort Benning, so we decided to visit this museum. This museum houses the CSS Jackson which is the largest surviving Confederate Warship. It also has the wreckage of the CSS Chattahoochee along with a replica of the USS Hartford. They also have a full scale replica of the USS Monitor's turret. These were ironclads that were steam-propelled warships protected by iron or steel armor plates. During the Civil War the Union commissioned 42 ironclads before May 1, 1985. The Confederates completed 24 ironclads. After the Civil War there was no need for ironclad vessels any longer.

My wife and I drove down from Peachtree City to get a diploma framed by Kara. They have a…read morebeautiful service where they incorporate a hand-painted drawing of the college's campus with the diploma. We expected to leave the diploma there and pick it up in a few weeks. Kara said she would stay after hours and get it done while we waited since we'd come all the way from Peachtree City! Wow! That is great customer service. We also had our silver picture frame with our wedding invitation in it that had started to come apart after 29 years. She put it all back together for us while we waited! She recommended some restaurants so we had dinner and everything was ready by the time we were finished! On top of having a beautiful shop, you can expect extraordinary customer service if you need any services done here!
