A hidden gem... I…read moreonly stopped here for a brief 4-hour nap on a cross-country trip, but I had a really positive experience. The gentleman at the front desk was incredibly polite and helpful. I felt very welcomed at this Super 8, even though I arrived at 1 in the morning. In the room, everything was clean and comfortable. After a long day on the road, I was able to sleep well. The A/C was powerful and the shower had plenty of hot, HOT water in the morning, which I appreciate. The mini fridge also had a moderately large freezer, so I froze some water bottles and ice cubes for the road. Checking out was just as quick and easy as checking in was. I would definitely stay here again!

While I could use some updating on the outside, the room was clean and the staff was extremely accommodating. When I went to park it made me happy that they have a veterans parking. As my son is in the military, it was great to see that they honored those who serve our country. The breakfast was very common to what you get in most hotels. However if anything ran out the staff was there right away to make sure that it was refilled. I enjoyed a plate of biscuits and gravy some eggs and some fruit. I washed it down with cranberry juice and a small piece of pastry. I do not see myself being in O'Neill Nebraska again. But I would love to thank the staff of the super 8 hotel for making our stay a wonderful one

Niobrara Nebraska is a tiny town, but with the rivers and rolling hills it's pretty. The restaurant didn't look promising from the street but when you drive around the back it had a cute entrance. Inside is smallish with a bar on one side of a half divider and tables on the other. The interior decor was definitely sportsman themed with taxidermy animals everywhere and an antler chandelier. But it was clean and cute. Great wooden bar and tin ceiling. There were maybe 10 people in here on a Tuesday night and several looked like regulars watching Wheel of Fortune at the bar. The service was good, one bartender who was also waiting tables but I didn't wait long for anything I ordered a sweet tea which had a weird flavor so I exchanged it for a Coke which was also weird so I didn't drink it. I ordered a bacon burger but since they only had American cheese, I got mine sans cheese. That said, the burger was good. It was big and really juicy and the thick sliced bacon was a nice addition. I ordered cheese curds instead of fries and they were also good. Definitely not a gormet place, but it was solid. And considering it's the only thing in Niobrara Nebraska, it's great compared to the competition! Edited to add that the women's restroom smelled weird, there were two stalls but one was out of order. The stall had two swinging doors with a two inch gap right down the middle. And the doors were so close to the toilet that they literally slapped me on my ass on my way in!

The reason why I stay at Hampton Inns as opposed to Holiday Inns is the amount of extras that they offer at a reasonable price. I drove up to the one recommended by some locals but it looked from the outside to be a shabby, run down brick building. I turned back and ended up at The Elms Motel - I had a parking space in front of my door, HBO to watch True Blood (in 30 minutes!), a coin-op laundry room two doors over, and a grocery store just a hundred yards away (closing in 10 minutes!). I dropped my stuff, popped over to the store for beer & veggies, made up some nice curry in my room (shh!) and watched "True Blood" (twice). Got my laundry all clean and had a fantastic night's sleep.

Our room was quite affordable and after having spoken to the kind owner in the front, I gained access to the WiFi and got our room key. Our room was well furnished, and the hot water flowed abundantly. After a restful evening, enjoying the roku that came included with the room, we checked out in a timely fashion and were then able to continue our journey southbound into Oklahoma.
