At least they sent it directly as a gift and didn't make me pick it up to send it. All these promises, assurances (yeah, don't worry, we work with the paper company all the time etc...) Funny how "plan B" came up the day it was supposed to be finished. Maybe "plan B" should have been brought up when I asked 3-4 weeks earlier if for sure they had time to finish 2 stars and not 1 because the final product apparently looked pretty good (although I never saw it and my parents were happy that I was thoughtful and likely would have liked any picture I would have sent them). 2 stars also because they broke their rule and gave me a few of the digital negative (very low-res) for use in a powerpoint presentation. That's just too bad. The expectations were quite high.

Our engagement shoot was the first time me and my husband had ever taken professional portraits together so we had no idea how to pose naturally and kept going into fits of embarrassed giggling since we hadn't a clue on how we should act in front of a photographer. Amanda put us at ease and pointed us in the right direction so that our photos turned out wonderfully and they had that great "candid" and "effortless" appearance. Her personality is casual and efficient. She always had her eyes open for an interesting shot and her ears open to our suggestions. Loved her and will totally be using her again for our next family portraits!!

We contacted this guy because Sam's now-wife saw him on a website called The Knot. She lost her email that she got from him, so I contacted him with a more thorough set of questions, and he gave me a price. The fishy thing that left a bad taste in our mouths was that after I got a response, a few days later she found his original response with a price way different. We ended up looking elsewhere because of this. When I look back at this photographer, some of the work is nice but a lot of the shots look amatuer like with feet cut off, or bad use of flash almost like how people look when they get their passport photos done.

Last year, my (now) husband and I planned a simple December wedding. As we looked for…read morephotographers online, we saw thousands of pictures. The choice was overwhelming! Then, we stumbled across Bob's website and we were instantly captivated. Unlike many photographers, who shoot the scenery but somehow fail to capture the essence of the day, Bob's pictures were lively and intimate. Bob incorporates three elements into his wedding photography: an engagement shoot, pictures on your wedding day, and another session after the wedding in tux and dress. Bob is attentive and creative, ensuring that he takes high quality photos of the couple and their family/friends. Bob is pleasant to work with and he accommodated all our requests. His affable manner and flexibility made the day a breeze. It felt like we were with friends, not being chased by flashes of paparazzi. I've seen so many wedding photos I can't count them all... all are beautiful... and though I'm admittedly biased because of my own memories, I firmly believe that ours are the best! I would choose Bob again in a heartbeat and can't recommend him highly enough.

My fiance and I are getting married in Ohio, but live in New York. We didn't want to make a special…read moretrip to Ohio for engagement pictures, so we decided to do them in New York. A friend recommended Arnav, and I'm glad I took the recommendation! We reached out to Arnav--who was incredibly responsive to all of our requests--and set up a time for the shoot. He had a bunch of great ideas for locations, but since Tom and I got engaged in Central Park, live near Central Park, and just generally spend a lot of time there, we decided that it would be the most meaningful choice (cliche as it may be). The session was essentially a stroll through the park. Arnav has a great eye for what photographs well, so when he saw a promising spot (setting, lighting, etc.), he would pose us and off we'd go. And the photographs were wonderful! I generally don't consider myself the most photogenic of people (I just can't master the fake smile), but Arnav did a great job making the photographs genuine and attractive. He has a particular talent with lighting and uses unique vantage points that make for pictures that are both unique and interesting. In addition to the amazing quality of the pictures, Arnav was also just enjoyable to work with. Having experienced wedding photographers who were nightmares, it's hard to overstate how important it is to be comfortable with someone--someone who can get the good shot without being too demanding or abrasive. The only piece of advice I would give (and this hold for any photographer, not just Arnav) is to ask if you want a particular photograph. Photographers aren't mind readers! Anyway, long story short, I would definitely recommend Arnav to all of my friends and family. The photographs were beautiful, and the experience was stress-free--all I could have hoped for.

Glen is an amazing photographer, and he will go to great lengths to get pictures that capture you and the spirit of the moment. For our engagement photos, he trekked out to Nahant with us because it's one of our favorite places, and the photos turned out beautifully - he's very creative and artistic. He's big on telling a story with the photographs (he really is a photojournalist), so it turns out very nicely! The wedding photography went great - he and his co-photographer were very inconspicuous - we rarely noticed them, but they somehow caught all the fun, interesting moments on camera. They were always pleasant and accommodating! Re: a previous review, Glen, Asha, and the intake process are a little unusual, but go with the flow - they just take their work and their art seriously, and are intent on being able to capture you, rather than taking a bunch of cookie-cutter photos.

When we contacted DMPJ, the coordinator (not photographer) wanted to have a conversation with us over the phone to see if we were a good 'fit' for them. The conversation was kind of awkward. Felt like we were the ones being interviewed, but she was happy to proceed. So we then met with her and the photographer. We never had a chance to talk to the photographer directly because the coordinator was so overwhelming. After the meeting, we tried negotiating over packages. A couple requests: we didn't need an engagement session, so we asked for a comparable price reduction or a swap for something else. She was very opposed to this, but after several emails, we were able to convince her. We also wanted to meet with the photographer on our own but not allowed. They said they weren't flexible on the price because their advertising funds come from our package and any discounts would go to their next clients. This is what really sent us over the edge with them. Why does the person after me get a discount and not us!? So before we could decide yes or no, we received an email saying they didn't want to work with us. Thanks for listening and please consider this before proceeding with DMPJ.

This was our experience: While checking out photographers on line, a friend of mine tagged us on FB that we were looking for a photographer....Gaby, reached out to us right away. After talking with Gaby and looking through the Chiha Studios website, we got such a good vibe that we decided to go meet with her. (Father and Daughter Duo!...this was different) When we met with Gaby, she took the time to show us her work and explained the type of photography she did and she also took her time to get to know us and to ask us what we were interested in doing for pictures. She made sure we were well informed of all the aspects of wedding photography, wedding photo shoots and gave us ideas as well.... we didn't know where to start or what direction to go in. Gaby was very helpful through the whole entire process, she helped us establish a time line of events for our wedding from beginning to end. The day of our wedding Gaby and her father Pierre were amazing, capturing every angle, every picture, even requests by our guests. They make a great team and we had so much fun having our pictures taken by them and had so much fun with them. Any nervousness and stress from that day flew right out the window! Our photo reveal was great, we felt like we were back in that moment for the first time. We loved all the pictures that we kinda had a hard time picking which ones to put into our wedding album LOL! So that took a while but Gaby was very patient with us and helped us and guided us once again and we are definitely happy with our choices and more than satisfied with the entire experience. Thank you Gaby & Pierre for everything and such a wonderful experience!! David & Lisa
