    Orange Americano

Like how this place offers more than the unusual run-of-the-mill cafe drinks. Got the: - Orange Americano: Interesting look, interesting taste. - Twilight Milk Tea: Ironically, the drink with their name on it was the one that was meh. - Matcha Cake Box: Good strong matcha flavour, smooth cream. Space is bright. Prices are what prices are these days. Service is efficient. Also offers food (smelled great) and has a gameboard section (fun!) for you to enjoy. An enjoyable cafe to chat or play the time away.

Conveniently located across from North York Centre, easily accessible via subway train or driving (Yonge exit on the 401). It's open until 2am on the weekends and 1am all the rest of the week. They offer kitchen food, drinks and boards game. Note that there is a 6$ minimum charge per person for every two hour usage of their space (board game). Most their drinks are over 6$, therefore if you order at a drink you're set for two hours! They were planing mandarin music when I went on a Sunday evening. The venue was not packed, but I did see a couple come in for a reservation.

If you're seeking a spot to unwind, enjoy some friendly competition, or try something new, Twilight Cafe is an excellent choice. Though it may look small from the outside, the cafe offers ample seating for you and your friends. It's a good idea to call ahead to check for availability or to make a reservation. The menu is simple but versatile, with options for any occasion, including breakfast items, pastas, udon, bubble teas, and even cocktails. My table ordered the Cheese Loaded Fries, which were a perfect snack to share between 2 people. I also tried the Mango Tango and the Sea Salt Rose Matcha Latte--both were unique and easily the best drinks I've had at a board game cafe. As for the games, they were all in excellent condition. My friends and I played four games, and each had cards protected in plastic sleeves, with all instructions intact. A nice bonus: they even have the Cards Against Humanity Expansion Packs!

The caffeinated drinks on the menu are excellent!! My partner and I got the Osmathasus latte and rose latte, respectively. We both agreed that the Osmathasus latte was one of the best floral lattes we've had. At the same time, the rose one is a bit overpowered for her liking (I liked it a lot, though, especially the candied editable rose flower petals in the drink - to note, it is on the sweet side). Although the other food items could be a bit pricey (average $20 before tax/tips), they all look delicious. I'd love to come back sometime to try them out. The vibe is very relaxing, inviting and clean. They have a huge collection of board games if that's what you want to do with friends/families. The services were friendly and approachable.

It's a hidden gem for board game lovers. Due to the location you won't get massive crowds. The renovation is modern, bright, and spacious. It's a place you don't mind hanging out for an extended time. Food wise, as far as bar type food goes it's decent (you don't go to board game cafe for the food anyways). Truffle fries was full of truffleness (recommended), Taiwanese popcorn chicken was dry and not authentic, chicken wings didn't have much flavor to it. Their drinks looked beautiful and my pink grapefruit was good.

Food 3/5 Service 3/5 Ambiance 4/5 The food is pretty mediocre here. I ordered a spaghetti bolognese & it tasted odd. They put cumin in it & the sauce didn't taste like tomato sauce. I didn't end up eating much of it. Hubby ordered French fries, chicken wings, & the burger. I tried the fries & wings. Those were also pretty ordinary. The fries tasted like they had been fried in old oil. The wings were ok but didn't have much flavour. Hubby's burger was a weird yellowish colour. I don't think it was beef. For dessert I asked for the chocolate bubble waffle but without whipped cream & ice cream because of my dairy intolerance. The young lady who was our waitstaff didn't seem to understand me. She kept saying that the chocolate bubble waffle comes with whipped cream & ice cream. If I didn't want those things she could just have a plain waffle made for me & put chocolate syrup on it. I just said yeah okay. Her English didn't seem too good. I wasn't too impressed with the service at this cafe. There were two young ladies & and older man serving the food. The man looked like he was also doing the cooking. It's too bad about the food because this is a nice looking place. It's also a cool concept. Hubby & I had fun browsing the games & trying some of them. The table tops are marble-like, some kind of stone. Chairs are well padded with grey upholstery & gold metal accents. There's only two bathrooms at the back however. So if the place got busy there would be a lineup. If I came back to this cafe I wouldn't eat much of the food. The drinks seem fine. The location is pretty convenient near a subway stop & right beside a park.

I visited this spot for the first time as a party of four, on a Saturday around noon. It's located on a corner lot and easy to find. There is paid street parking nearby, which is consistent with the rest of this busy area in North York. We were seated immediately, with the restaurant being at about 60% capacity at the time from what I could see, but I did learn after that there is a back area too but they were hosting an event at the time. We were seated and inquired if we planned to just dine in or also had plans to play board games - they have a large selection, and the rate is $6 per person for the first two hours, then $3 per hour thereafter. However, we had just planned to come for the food. We were immediately offered water and menus, though they also have a QR code on the table that you can scan to view their menu online. Once ready, there's a call bell under the table where you can ring for service. I'll mention here that if you do not ring, you otherwise do not get any service. They brought the food when ready, but never offered refills on water unless asked and no one ever checked up on how our meal was going. I often do not expect a lot of service, but I feel there's a bare minimum when you're paying a certain price point, and the price point of this cafe did not match the service received. The employee was also clumsy and spilled some of my pasta sauce when setting my plate on the table. I understand accidents happen, but it honestly felt like a no-care kind of situation with a simple "whoops" as a response. Another small but telling thing was that though our order was confirmed, making it feel like there was care in service, we still got things incorrect, such as ice in our orange juice when we opted out when asked. The highlight of this visit was the flavor profiles. Everything tasted really good but lacked in plating choices which may seem like a small detail but can make or break an experience. We ordered the following: 1. My choice was their Truffled Mushroom Spaghetti which was said to be a popular item, given the symbols on their menu. There was a strong presence of truffle flavor which was delicious, the spaghetti was cooked al dente, and the overall sauce was creamy. This was a well-constructed dish but my only wish was that it was served hotter, as it had cooled down quite a bit by the time it was served to enjoy. 2. Their Spicy Creamy Udon had the perfect level of spice and flavor, one I really enjoyed. The pot they chose for plating was not ideal though as the portion looked smaller than it already was. And overall, it just wasn't pleasing in terms of presentation. 3. Their Honey Chicken Croffle is another well flavored dish with a good chicken-to-croffle ratio; however, the lightweight plate was a poor choice as my friend struggled with every attempt to cut since it would just rotate endlessly. It was exhausting just to watch. 4. Loaded Nachos - the biggest portion out of all the dishes ordered, with a good ratio of toppings to chips. Not the most special thing you can get here and hence, I would recommend trying the other dishes above but this one is guaranteed to leave you full. 5. Oat Milk Caramel Float - a pricey beverage, sitting at $8.50 plus tax but boy, it was delicious. The coffee notes were bold without being bitter, and the drink was not too sweet. All in all, well-constructed and the Lotus Biscoff cookie on top was a nice touch. The cafe was clean at a glance, but I did notice that employees were very slow to clear tables. The gentlemen that was initially sitting beside us had left for over half an hour, but by the time we finished and left, that table was still yet to be cleared and cleaned. All in all, this place earns its stars from me for their flavors which I believe is the most important, but lacks in other areas, primarily service at the high price point. I have definitely been to other cafes with a similar vibe and price point, and overall had a better experience in terms of service received and portions. Such a shame as there is a lot of potential here, but I hope to see some improvements in these areas over time and maybe that will win me to return again.

New boardgames cafe open near North York centre. Such a convenient location and clean space. They have quite a few collection of boardgames. All drinks were $2 for opening event. Saw the other table having brunch that looked pretty good! I'll try next time. Staff were friendly and attentive.

I love ginger beverages- it wasn't overpowering here, I mostly tasted the kiwi and sparkling lemonade. It was busy in there but we still got our orders and drinks quickly, I appreciate how fast the service was. My friend got one of their banana bread drinks - if you like the taste of hojicha, this was particularly strong which I personally enjoyed! Love how the store also has sections where it is like a little market selling local goods and always fun to see the dogs that are sitting outside. The prices are a little expensive (my refresher before tax was $7.5) but typical for what you'd pay in Toronto for a fun drink, from what I've seen.

I'd absolutely come here to get some work done if I was able to get a seat. One thing I really love is that they sell handmade goods from local artists and host craft nights, it feels very community driven and adds such a fun, unique touch to the café. Drinks I tried: Maple Goguma Latte - Slightly nutty, lightly sweet, and super comforting. I added a shot of espresso, which made it perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Dalgona Latte - A really fun drink with great texture. Just make sure to stir it well since the sweetness settles at the bottom. They're known for their creative, seasonal drink menu, and I'm already excited to come back to try what they release next season. Definitely a must-visit if you love cozy cafés, unique drinks, and supporting local artists.
