We had originally contracted Natalie for day-of coordination services for our 2020 wedding, which ended up getting pushed back twice AND had a venue move (...our original venue decided to close 8 months before our celebration!). Throughout the nearly three-year process, she was kind, professional and honest - and became more of a friend that I could count on than just a coordinator. As a New Yorker who had to plan our event from 1900+ miles away, I found her to be an invaluable resource who always went above and beyond: she was able to help run offense when I couldn't visit a new venue, needed to find a particular vendor, or encountered last-minute rental changes. (This bit was especially important because our new venue had just opened and was still in the process of ordering and receiving items - not exactly a walk in the park when you're trying to cement your reception layouts.) Which brings me to my next point of praise: Natalie is incredibly detail-oriented. From double checking on our signature cocktail (tequila instead of mezcal?) or recognizing that we'd need to rent umbrellas to shade our guests for our cocktail reception, she was able to think of it all and executed on EVERYTHING, perfectly. Natalie is a wonderful, gracious, talented, organized, reliable, trustworthy, and communicative professional. She spent a lot of time really getting to know my husband and I's interests, aesthetic, needs, and wants over the many months leading up to the big day. She gave great recommendations and insight into vendors that helped us choose the best person for our needs, and advocated for us when needed. When covid hit she transitioned right into helping us with masked appointments and zoom meetings and ultimately helped us make the decision to put the big family and friend filled day on pause while seamlessly changing the entire event from a large, in state affair to a high altitude, private, adventure elopement in another state hours away. It felt like she didn't even blink twice when we brought up the massive change of plans. She just went right with the flow and focused on the new adventure at hand. Natalie coordinated catered food from hours away, transported our flowers out of state, worked with our local photographer and videographer on travel plans and day of needs, helped with vehicle rental, managed hair and makeup, and even later submitted our marriage license for us. When I had dress issues before leaving for the weekend she stepped right into problem solving with me to figure out how to best approach it and make it as minimally stressful as possible. She truly went above and beyond anything we could have dreamed of during the process and the day of. Because of the unique nature of the day we had a lot of flexibility in our schedule with no family around but she still made sure to keep us on a schedule so we didn't miss out on the most important aspects we wanted to do and capture. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for a wedding planner. Natalie was the planner for my very small wedding, along with a Friday night welcome party and Sunday brunch. In light of the planning I'd already done when I hired her, she offered me a discounted rate (still a significant amount), which I paid in full upfront. It became clear early on that Natalie was not invested in my wedding planning. She frequently mentioned how busy she was, which I believe, but I was definitely on the bottom of her priority list. I could spend a lot of time recounting the ways she let me down but will will try to hit the highlights: she was rarely available to talk during normal business hours. She would typically call at 8 PM or later -- sometimes as late as 11. She'd tell me she would call at a particular time and then call much later (she got delayed putting her kids to bed or didn't have service, etc.). We did not speak often. She'd go days, sometimes a week or more, without responding to emails. About 2 months before my wedding, I emailed her and got an OOO response saying she was on vacation for 30 days, which she'd given me no heads up about. At that point, I tried to communicate my frustrations and suggested we part ways and reach an equitable agreement on the fee I'd already paid in full. She declined. She had very little, if any, communication with my vendors. Her first communication with many of them was to email an incorrect wedding schedule about a week before the wedding and let them know she would not be available in ANY capacity during the wedding weekend. (When I hired her, I knew she had another wedding on the day of my wedding and would not be able to provide day-of coordination, which was fine with me, because the venue had said they could cover the day-of portion. She and I had never agreed, however, that she would be unreachable during my wedding weekend, and it certainly wasn't in the contract.) A few months before my wedding, with everything feeling super disorganized, my mom got nervous and wanted to hire a day-of coordinator. Natalie offered her "assistant" for day-of services, for an additional fee. I paid her assistant separately, per Natalie's instructions. It later became clear her assistant had no experience being the lead coordinator for a wedding. Despite that I'd paid her assistant only a few hundred dollars, and paid Natalie several thousands, Natalie passed all of her remaining duties (including the ones outside day-of services) onto her assistant. (Her assistant even told me that much, and said this was not like any wedding she'd helped Natalie w/ before.) When my mom asked Natalie something pertaining to the actual wedding day, Natalie responded that what the assistant did or not do on the wedding day was totally up to her, and that our contract with her was totally separate. Natalie basically did no planning for the Sunday brunch, except to email me a menu for the restaurant I'd selected that she pulled from their website. She never finalized a proper wedding schedule. I had to prepare one a week out because the one Natalie was using was illegible and still had notes and incorrect info in the margins. She did not communicate with me a single time during my wedding week. Not even a "good luck" or "congrats." Her assistant gave 100% over the wedding weekend, and I was so appreciative of that, but she wasn't equipped to handle all that Natalie put on her. A couple of examples - on Thurs. night, she let me know she'd thrown her back out and hadn't able to move to respond to an earlier text. She had limited mobility during the wedding weekend, which I felt bad about but did cause added stress. My husband spent about an hour at our welcome reception trying to help her get the string lights to work (our only source of lighting). She'd tried to turn them on for the first time after the sun had set. So many things did not go as planned on the wedding day, but the cherry on top came at the end of the night, when Natalie's assistant and the venue employees lit all 40 sparklers at once with a blow torch, causing a mini-explosion that burned the assistant's hand. It was very sad and unfortunate, and needless to say, not the sendoff we'd imagined. The venue later requested I reimburse them $2,500 for the damage the sparklers caused to their rug. Natalie called me the week after the wedding, and I thought she may be calling to offer a congrats or ask how the wedding went. She wasn't - it was a CYA call relating to the sparkler incident. She still to this day hasn't said congrats or asked how the wedding went. The call re: the sparklers was the last time we spoke, although I emailed her later to express a lot of these same sentiments, and she didn't respond. Planning a destination wedding during Covid was a very wild ride. One that we absolutely could not have done successfully without Natalie! From the very first moment we began working together, Natalie was professional, kind, organized, and transparent. When issues with vendors arose or changes needed to be made due to the pandemic (or otherwise), she gracefully came up with solutions while ALWAYS being our biggest advocate. We had quite a large destination wedding (235 guests), with a lot of moving parts (tents, shuttles, DJ, out of town band, rain), at a venue we saw in person only months before the wedding (a venue that also proved quite challenging to work with). It was a huge undertaking, and Natalie made it absolutely gorgeous from top to bottom. I would imagine that there are always issues and uncertainties with wedding planning in a "normal" year. But navigating all of this through a pandemic, hundreds of miles away, mostly only through Zoom felt undoable at times. But at every turn, Natalie had our backs. She was honest, compassionate, and solution oriented. She was the perfect planner for us because we were looking for a true partner in this process. There was nothing too big or too small that she wasn't ready and willing to do! And as a result, the wedding was a HUGE success.
