Considering the close relationship we seem to have with our plumber it's shocking I haven't written a review. We have 1 bathroom. We are a family of 4. So it should go without saying that it needs to be working at all times. For the first couple of years - every time it heavily rained - we would have issues. We would call- they would fix it. Until the next rain. Once it started acting up and it was the weekend and for reasons I can't remember I ended up having someone else come out. That person made my toilet explode and then left while saying we needed new pipes. The next day Turbo plumbing comes out and insists we just need a new switch for $150. My husband is insisting we need to spend thousands of dollars for new pipes bc we are tired of having plumbers out. Dennis promises us this is all we need to do. Several years later - he was right. We trust Dennis and his team and are really happy with their service. read more

Dennis is great! He's fixed all kinds of things for us from broken spigots to toilets with the sensors not working, to clogs in pipes under the commercial sinks, etc. The only drawback is that you always have to call and leave a message with the message center, there's no "live" person to answer your call. That's okay though because they usually call me back within a few hours and schedule me for the next day or so, depending on his schedule. I called Dennis because our dishwasher was malfunctioning, and the manufacturer suspected the reason was that our disposer was jammed up and therefore the dishwasher water wasn't able to drain through the disposer, as it normally does. Actually, I hadn't used my disposer in over a year and now it appeared to be rusted into uselessness. I expected Dennis was going to replace the disposer. Originally I had wanted him to just take it out since we never use it, but he said it'd be cheaper to install a new one than to take it out, given the cost of copper pipe to turn it into a passive drain for the sink. But no, he was able to un-jam the disposer, and proceeded to give me advice on how to keep all our drains and disposer running smoothly (use baking soda and vinegar, not drain cleaner - cheaper, and much better for the pipes). Then he tested the dishwasher, saw that it was running ok. After all this, he said he wouldn't charge me; just make sure to call him next time we needed a plumber. As if he had to ask! I will also mention that he always shows up looking meticulous, with a dazzlingly clean shirt, and wipes his feet carefully before entering. And I have never seen him be anything but kind and patient. A prince of a guy. read more

I'm always a little leary about using a company that hasn't been recommended by a family member or friend. Since no one I knew could suggest a plumber I decided to rely on my Yelp friends. You folks did not let me down!! Long story short, at 7pm last night both of our bathroom toilets backed up. My husband started plunging the heck out of both when all of a sudden we hear water gurgling in the bathtub. I look over and there is water and dirt coming up from the drain in the tub. I'm feeling sick to my stomach at this point and with both of my toilets out of order that ain't good. After coming up with nada on the family recommendations I did a little searching and reading the reviews on Yelp. I called 4 companies. It was about 8pm and I had to leave 3 messages. The 4th one answered the phone and was quite nice. He quoted me a pretty high price per hour but since I hadn't heard back from the other 3 my husband and I figured that we needed someone and needed them right away and scheduled an appointment for 8:30 in the morning. Dennis (my 2nd call) from Turbo called me at 8:20am. He spent the next 15-20 minutes listening to my problem and explaining what procedures would probably be needed in order to fix our situation. He also Googled my home and could tell from the pictures where certain things were located so he would have an idea of where to start when he got here. When he quoted me his price it was lower than the other guys so we decided to give him a chance. Yes, I felt bad telling the other one when he called that we didn't need him and thanks for his time. Dennis got here about 9:30, squeezing us into his already busy schedule. After checking out the problem he explained our options, what would get us by, what would solve the problem for a good amount of time and what we needed to do to fix the problem permenately. Two hours later we are seriously PLEASED! The job is done and for way cheaper than we thought it would be. I have Turbo's number in my home phonebook (yes, I am old school) and will be calling them back to complete the job. We went with the 2nd option so we are going to need them to come back after the holidays and fix these pipes for good. But even the quoted price for that has put a smile on my husbands face. Just a great experience! Called Dennis about an ongoing problem for years... a main drain. Dennis called back within 15 minutes and after a short chat, was ready to tackle the job. We knew the drain was blocked, last year our snake barely made it through. Dennis located the cracked portion under the driveway some 40+ feel from the trap and gave us a quote that was by far the best news we've heard in years! Next day he was on it, job done, sidewalk cemented back up and new "christie" valve in place! I just moved to Castro Valley. Didn't have a plumber... My water heater breaks Christmas week. I called Turbo Plumbing and got same day service. They said my water heater was still under the manufacturer's warranty so they replaced it. In 2 hours! That's not the end of it... Well,it turns out that my warranty had lapsed by two months and they said since it was their mistake, they didn't charge me! Unbelievable! Not pleased. My property management sent this company to our home because for two weeks we had a leak under our upstairs bathroom sink and our toilet keep making a loud gargling noise and sucking back all the water. A gentleman, per my maintenance man named Dennis came to our home. My husband was there. He said nothing was wrong with anything, the toilet issue was normal he doesnt see any leaks under the sink, he mentioned a week prior a main pipe had a build up that had since been resolved. He suggested the water under the sink was caused by my 5 year old brushing his teeth and water over flowing off the counter top. He left. I did not understand his findings so I contacted him to discuss it further and have a better understanding of how he came to his conclusion. It appears he doesnt like to be questioned in his work because he got very defensive and was not letting me get my full question/sentence out. When I was trying to explain how the leak was happening and how large of a water spill it was causing he told me that as impossible, when I stated that it was indeed possible because I had seen it with my own eyes he yelled at me and hung up. I will never have this company back to my home. This appointment took place 3 weeks ago and yet I still have a leak under my sink with the same toilet issues. After a second opinion it appears the pipes arent connected correctly and looking under my sink you can see the corrosion & build up on the fittings. Rude and unprofessional. Being a homeowner is awesome but it can get a little scary. You can't call the landlord if something isn't working properly. Or if you're like me you can attempt to fix it yourself. For the most part I can usually fix things around the house that break but sometimes I have to find some help. Finding someone to work on your house is pretty scary too, you never know what their going to charge you or if they even know what their doing. That being said, these folks have earned a customer for life! I was having some issues relighting my water heater after I replaced the drain valve and after one night without hot water I knew I had to call someone. I called around and after talking to a few flakes that never returned my call, Dennis called me back, which surprised me because it was after 5pm. So I explained to Dennis the issue I was having and he talked me through the problem and helped me get my hot water back on! It's not just that he helped me fix the problem but he was friendly, patient and knew what he was talking about. If I ever have other plumbing issues in the future I will definitely call these guys first and I encourage you to do the same, you will not be disappointed! read more

Our hot water heater stopped working Saturday morning. I looked at the plumbers recommended on our local neighborhood association and tons of people spoke up to mention Dennis and Turbo Plumbing and what great service they'd had from him so that was who I called. Dennis called right back and fit us in between other jobs to check it out. He gave me lots of fantastic info about what had gone wrong with our ancient hot water heater (not fixable), and answered lots of questions about options we'd been thinking about (gas or electric, tankless vs. tank water heater, why a tank water heater of the same size as ours, but new, would allow for more showers than we had been getting, the differences between the tanks he sells/installs and the ones we would find at a hardware store, etc.). After he left he was very generous with his time on the phone, answering our questions about the water heater he was recommending vs. what he could get at 1pm on a Saturday to install the same day, etc. He never charged for the visit or his time and he gave me lots of great info to think about. That afternoon a friend heard of our plight and offered an old (but working) tank water heater sitting in their garage. I was able to pick it up and install it the next day. It isn't ideal as there is real plumbing work that we should have done (the shutoff valve to the water inlet isn't working, etc.) but it will buy us time to figure out if we want to have Dennis do a proper job and install a high quality tank heater or if we want to go to the time and expense of having a tankless water heater installed. I'm really glad I checked Yelp before randomly dialing around. Dennis was very busy but could still come over the same day I called. I thought I had a burst water heater, but he investigated, and found that it wasn't the water heater's fault at all. A nearby bathtub upstairs had leaked, and the water had trickled down through the ceiling/wall, and was coming out near where the water heater was! Saved me a lot of money by not needing to replace a perfectly good water heater. He identified the leaking seal, accessed it cleanly, told me that my bathtub had been installed slightly out of alignment many years ago and so it had put undue stress on the seal over time, causing it to fail, and so on. Charged a reasonable amount, I thought, not too much, not too little. Does not take credit cards, but takes local checks. Very honest, really polite guy, puts up with distractions caused by pets in the house. I like how he educates me as we talk, teaching me the lay of the house, where things are behind the wall relative to each other, and so on. Helped me relight the water heater which I had turned off in a panic, and unjam the water valve leading to it. Would love to have him over again sometime, to clear some slow drains, reseal some drippy faucets, and so on. About the only thing to say is that he's so popular that he's completely swamped with business and so has to quickly run from job to job as fast as the calls come in :) read more

Water heater failed, called their answering service, got a call from Turbo soon thereafter. At their request, texted a couple pictures of the old unit. Got a quote and appointment for that afternoon. They called prior to the appointment and showed up on time, replaced the old unit, gas and water lines, and helped troubleshoot a back pressure problem. I have had 3 jobs completed by Dennis at Turbo. All good. But the last job was a nightmare. A water leak inside a slab floor of my home. After no water for a couple days, Dennis came over on his day off and spent 3/4 of his day repairing our leak. He had to jack hammer through the floor, find the pipe, repair the leak and then seal the hole back up. I used Turbo Plumbing due to the reviews on YELP, and you know what? I've been a home owner for nearly 25 years, and this had to be the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I've never met Dennis. He sent his "employee" for my service call. He fixed one thing and made another worse. I called Dennis back to report the situation and asked that HE himself come to fix it, and NOT his employee. Guess who showed up AGAIN?!! And still didn't resolve the problem completely? And this is after an exchange of numerous calls. When I called the day before to confirm the 2nd appointment, Dennis didn't even remember who I was nor the appointment. I found Turbo Plumbing on Yelp and seeing that most reviews were around 4 stars, I decided to give them a shot...boy do I regret that decision!! The owner Dennis called and he was pleasant...telling me that they will show up the next day. When time came, they past my appointment time for about 30 mins and when I did not get a call, I decided to call. I was told the plumber would be there in about 30 mins...okay, whatever, they should have called. After the plumber came he checked my toilet and told me that it was just a seal leak and will have me set up in no time...Great. While he was working, I heard a "oh, that's not good", followed by sounds of gushing water. When I went to see, I saw that he had cracked the tank. He called Dennis and said he had no idea how the tank cracked, since he didn't touch it....stupid, even I know that you can't set a toilet with the tank still attached...porcelain is like glass, any stress will crack it at the bolt connection. Since my tank was eight years old, finding a replacement tank would be hard, so Dennis offered to sell me a tank at cost, but wouldn't charge for service...I thought, okay, I shouldn't have to pay for a new toilet, but if the tank didn't break, I would mostly be charged $100 and change just to have a plumber come out, so I said fine. When my bill came, I was charged $165 for the toilet and $125 for service. Wait, I thought the service was free??, so I called Dennis. Dennis tried to justify the charge, telling me that since they came out two times, the service charge was for the first visit..WTF, the first visit your worker broke my toilet, you are charging me for having my toilet broke?? When I tried to reason with him about the charge and explained to him that if I went in for an oil change and the mechanic blew up my engine, should I be charged for the service as well? Dennis, now is no longer pleasant, he told me to just pay for the cost of the toilet and then hung up on me...really, that's how you run a business? Also, the toilet I got from them is two inches shorter then my original one...it looks like it belongs in a kid's bathroom (see attached photo)It looks ridiculous!! I will never use them again and will not refer anyone to Turbo. What a way to treat a customer. If yelp would allow me to give a review with zero stars, I would have...one star is too good for this business. At first I was being serviced for a leaky seal and ended up with paying for their mistake and a kiddie toilet. What a bunch of crooks! Any business can get good reviews if nothing goes wrong, but to be a truely great business, you must be willing to rectify the mistake or problem when things go wrong. read more

Being in the plumbing services business, I'm sure these folks take a lot of crap - and I mean not only literally but also from very challenging customers. Well, I was one of those. We had a very challenging issue with a leaking/vibrating valve in our shower. The easiest solution would just be to rip out the old system and put a new one in. However, good people don't default to easy solutions but rather the right ones for the people they service. They tried their best to find a replacement cartridge. Then, when they did find it, they realized that two of the rubber rings were missing from the cartridge they removed. My 9-yr-old son likely remove them to play with and pretend they were mini hoola hoops for for his roly poly insect collection. But, he did not confess it. So, we had missing rubber rings. After days and weeks of attempts to replace it, Steve found something from his stock and made it work. In the end, we did not have to punch a hole through my daughter's closet, I did not have to search through my son's closet and drawers to search for the rubber rings, and I did not have to shell out $$$$ to fix a simple leaking shower faucet. Why? Because the Turbo Plumbing folks were diligent, communicative, honest, hard working, and found the solution. Thanks! read more

We have Dennis on speed dial. The teenage son failed to tell us that the boys bathroom completely backed up late one night. My husband discovered it at 4:00 a.m. when we got up to get ready for work. I woke up several hours later to the bathroom completely taped off with "DO NOT USE" signs all over. It was bad. Hubby called Dennis and when I arrived home from work that afternoon, someone from Turbo was working hard to clear things up. It's like he waved a magic wand. My bathtub in my 50+ year old house backed up. So i used Draino and that was $6 that was flushed down the drain (no pun intended of course). Bought an $11 hand snake from Ace Hardware and that turned out to be $11 sitting in the garage. I called Turbo Plumbing, got the answering service. 5 to 10 minutes later, i got a call from Dennis (owner) and said that he would check if he could get one of his guys to come. Calls back in 5 minutes and says his guy can be at my house in 20 minutes. Guy was on time and showed up and started working on it. Dennis had to stop by, because he had a longer tool. 5 minutes of work and the drain was gone. Dennis was great. We spent more time talking about preventative measures and his recommendations than the time he actually had to work. I would definitely recommend Dennis and Turbo Plumbing if you're in a bind. The best rate around. Paid $119, when i was getting rates ranging from $140 - $220 and they couldn't have come quickly as Turbo Plumbing. Wished more businesses were like this... read more

I called Turbo Plumbing last October to have them cure banging water pipes under my house. They came out and told me that my water pressure was too high and causing the pipes to bang. They installed an regulator on my supply line, told me that would cure the problem, charged me $285 and left. The regulator was only effective for a short time and the banging returned. In January I called Turbo and left a message with whoever answered the phone and was told that Dennis would get back to me. Three months passed and there was no call from Dennis. In April I called Turbo again and, again was told that Dennis would call me. I waited another three weeks and still no response. On May 1, I called Turbo Plumbing again to advise them that I still had not heard from Dennis and because of the lack of response I would never attempt to do business with Turbo again. My impression is that, beyond installing the regulator, Dennis didn't know what to do about the problem so he chose just to ignore me. Contrary to what some of the other reviews say this company does not back their work and needs some training in the area of customer support. read more

Last night my kitchen faucet, which is only a few months old, began to leak copiously under the sink. I left a message with Turbo's answering service and Dennis called me about 8:30 that morning. He patiently listened to my description and asked me specific questions. I turned out being able to fix it easily myself by just unscrewing and rescrewing one connection. Importantly Dennis honestly told me he didn't think I needed a plumber and encouraged me to save money. I really appreciate his honesty and integrity. It's Saturday morning.The pilot light on our gas water heater won't stay on, so looked on Yelp for a plumber. Called Turbo and talked to a woman who took my name and phone #. Less than a minute later, Dennis called me back. He spent more than five minutes with me on the phone getting an accurate description of the problem and what I've tried so far. When I mentioned that we bought our house less than a year ago, he suggested that if we have a home warranty plan, we should use it to get this problem fixed. I had even forgotten that we had a home warranty! Dennis also suggested one last thing to try before calling the home warranty people. Wow!! He was extremely courteous and helpful. So although this rating is based on the phone call alone, I would not hesitate to call on Turbo in the future if I need any plumbing work done (or if the home warranty people don't come through for me). read more
