I was hungry and looking to satisfy my tummy with something cool and satisfying. When I walked in I was greeted by Ron and he gave me a short history of the quaint little sit down deli shop. Being my first time here, I was highly impressed. The menu is vast but it made it easy for me to build my sandwich. I ordered the foot long Monster on a roll. It was great. The meat was sliced just right and everything was distributed for a delicious bite each time. The roll was also just right, not too soft and not soggy at all. This was a staple when I went to UCR...many many years ago. After graduation, I worked nearby and it was again a staple lunch spot for my coworkers and me. I eventually moved on and haven't been back in a decade, but Mark and the ladies making the food still remember my name and order. They're only open til 4PM and the location is in a rather corporate looking area right before the freeway, but their service is fast, efficient, and the sandwiches are great!! The original plan was to eat here on a Saturday, but I found out the day of that they were closed on weekend's... So, plans changed and my boyfriend and I ate lunch here on Tuesday. It's located in a business plaza, which is an odd place for a restaurant but you can easily see the entrance and the "Tummy Stuffer" sign from the street on Iowa. The outside and inside of the restaurant was also very plain, but their yummy sandwiches make up for it! My boyfriend and I split a 12 inch Steak, Avocado, Mushroom, and Cheese sandwich and got it as a combo for $9.99. The combo comes with a side of your choice and with a refillable drink. I really liked the sandwich and was glad that my boyfriend and I split it! If I ordered one for myself there would be no way I could have finished it. This place is definitely comparable to Subway, but Tummy Stuffer definitely puts a lot more meat and vegetables in their sandwiches! Typically, I get an Italian sandwich or bacon avocado turkey sandwich. They also serve teriyaki bowl and plates that comes with beef, rice and veggies. Not bad but a bit salty for me. This place is generally hopping pretty good during lunch and they seem to get the orders out relatively quickly. The bread they use is fresh and tasty. They have a small or large size sandwich. I don't know if they make the roll but it is fresh with a slight crunch on the crust and soft inside. I have gotten their roast beef with mushrooms but I find the raw onions too much. I can't go back to work with hot onion stank breath so I will either not get onions or get them grilled. They have a huge variety of sandwiches (100+) so I would recommend that you grab a menu and review while you're in line. The specialties are numbered which can make it easy to remember and to reorder. They have a cooler with Arizona Ice Tea (.99), Snapple and other similar drinks including water. They do have fountain drinks and iced tea. The water in the plastic pitcher is a little funky probably tap water so I would just get bottle or the Arizona Tea for a buck. Most of the time I will eat in because they have a Paramedic Academy somewhere nearby and the strapping young lads with big shoulders and arms patronize this place often. Great eye candy. Anyway if you are seated inside and have grabbed a table keep in mind it's hard to hear them shout your order number because they play music for a little lunch time ambiance. They're located in a business complex that has one way traffic so parking can be difficult and tight. If you do decide to try this place out (which I recommend) you should either come close to 11 or after 2 once the lunch crunch is gone. They're only open til 4 so don't come too late. read more
