This location in Vintage Park has friendly staff, squeaky clean facilities, and impeccable and consistent food quality. They recently did updates to their app, so reward credit is now earned based on the card you use. Whether you order dine in or takeout, you'll still earn credit! This is a game changer for regulars like myself! I also look forward to the new exclusive sandwiches every month. The Texas OG has been my absolute favorite so far and needs to become a part of their regular menu!! The customization options, monthly exclusives, and consistent new menu items is enough to keep me coming back, but the friendly staff, manager that treats his customers like family, and exceptional food quality makes it really hard to choose to eat anywhere else. Came here the other day for brunch with my mom and sat outside! I love their patio because it's covered and they have a tv outside for any game that might be on! Ernesto was our server and he was really great guiding me through the menu and what was good! I got the lil chicken sandwich, which was 4oz and topped with coleslaw and pickles and I think had a sauce on it, and needless td say, it was amazing! They have different heat levels, I just got the hot. I also got a side of fries and Ernesto suggested one of their specialties that comes so with pulled fried chicken and queso that the fries are topped and smothered in, and those were delicous also! So after giving Tumble 22 a second try, I have to say it is all about what you order. I had something different for dinner tonight so I just ordered The Big Larry to drink. A very strong Blood Orange margarita with a Grand Mariner floater, that is. It was delicious. Rob ordered The OG chicken sandwich, no bread, coleslaw or pickles on a bed of lettuce and a side of fries with honey mustard. The chicken breast was lightyears better than the fried chicken thigh and I will recommend that to anyone. We're glad we gave them a second chance. The server was absolutely sketchy. He kept coming up to the table and talking sharing stories of his hardships. The number of times he was at our table was weird and kept interrupting our conversations. When we received our bill he placed a loyalty card on the table with his name and number on it stating to Zelle or Venmo his tip because he needed the money right away. Visited this location on a Saturday night. Came because of the raves reviews from other family members. If the food matched the service I would give this location 10 stars. But unfortunately it didn't. Typically on a Saturday night the location is packed but it was empty maybe like 2 or 3 groups sitting and eating. We walked in, no one was at the host area. We were literally standing there for 5 minutes before some walked over and sat as in a dirty booth and handed us wet menus, handed us some silver ware on the bare table not on a napkin or wrapped in something. I work in the service industry so I just assumed the menus were just cleaned not a big issue. 5 mins go by no server. 10 mins go by no server. But we notice another couple comes in, immediately greeted and seated and server arrives at their table within the minute they sit down. And yet WE STILL HAVENT BEEN GREETED. 15 mins past finally meet our server. I can't even remember his name because he didn't even tell us. Just greeted us & asked for our drinks. At this point we are already ready to order so we just order everything before he leaves because who knows when we'll see him again. I tried Tumble 22 in Austin a few years ago and, as someone who constantly seeks the spiciest eating experience, I was so disappointed that it was literally forgettable. After visiting this location today I've had a change of heart. The Stupid Hot tenders hit the spot for a mighty spice craving without hitting that pitfall that so many places resort to of using extract. The beans were a little one dimensional in flavor - nothing a dash of pepper couldn't help, some pepper sauce really would've set it off. The comeback sauce has horseradish in it, which honestly doesn't taste bad but it's super unexpected. I associate horseradish with roast beef and it gets a little weird in the mouth when you have capsaicin spice mixed with isothiocyanate spice. From the start the host was very welcoming as well as are waitress. I ordered the dive burger double pattie. The Pattie's were pretty big and the temperature on the burger was on point. I didn't realize you add on anything xtra that you may want like cheese bacon etc. my fault though. The dirty fries and Mac n cheese were a must try, they were great the fries were very filling and the Mac and cheese were ok nothing about them stood out but also no complains. This restaurant chain specializes in Nashville type "hot" chicken meals. Up till now that fix has been met in Houston by Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken down on Washington Avenue. After two visits here, I think Tumble 22 is better. My first visit was for a 3 piece (breast, leg and wing) bone in meal with sides of potato salad and beans for $11.75. This meal took less than 15 minutes and when it arrived I immediately noticed the size of the chicken pieces. They were larger than Gus's. Tumble also offers another advantage with 6 different heat levels for your chicken as opposed to only 1 with Gus's. I went with the 3rd level from the bottom called Mo Hot for this meal. My chicken was delicious. It was juicy and flavorful with the Mo Hot level causing slight perspiration on my forehead. The sides were both large in serving size. The potato salad was on the firmer and drier side of the scale and the beans were ranch style. I'd give the chicken a 5, potato salad a 3.5 and the beans a 4. My next visit was to try their chicken sandwich which Gus's does not offer. Here they offer two sizes and I went with the large one called the O.G. for $8.95. It comes with cole slaw, bread and butter pickles and Duke's mayo O on the bun with the chicken breast filet. I added a side of cole slaw for another $2. This time I went down a notch on the heat scale to Hot. This meal came out in less than 15 minutes. Immediately, I noticed how big this sandwich was. It was huge. Bigger than the gold standard Popeye's chicken sandwich. The chicken was sticking way outside of the bun. Again, it was an excellent sandwich. Great taste and very filling, I enjoyed every bite. So much so, that next time I may go with the smaller version just to save my waistline. The cole slaw was also large but on the dry side. The sandwich was a 5 and the slaw a 3. On both occasions, my table service was very good and attentive. The interior is nicely decorated and there is plenty of parking space available. They also have a drive thru window for to go orders. I will be a frequent visitor here. Prices are comparable to Gus's but the servings are larger, there are 6 heat level options and they offer a chicken sandwich plus this location is a little more central to me than Gus's. I will NOT be eating at this place again! I know it's weird I give 2 stars for a place I don't intend to try again instead of 1 star. I placed an order here online for 11:15am. I arrived and the way the place is set, I guess I missed the intercom for the drive thru. But I arrived with literally nobody else in the drive thru nor inside as far as I saw. With that being the case I pulled up to the window and sat there for at least 4 mins of nobody coming to the window. It's not as if I'm sitting in a drive thru that was busy and nobody came, they just opened and nothing is going on. To make it worse I can see that there are employees inside and multiple ones came by and looked at me then went on to doing some other tasks. I would've left if not for the fact I placed the order in advance and paid for it already. When eventually someone did come to the window it made me feel no better. I asked if they were opened and was told that because I had missed the intercom was the issue. That is fine but doesn't account for multiple people looking at me and none of them coming to the window. Now this is possibly inconsequential but the people I saw pass and look directly at me were white men and it was a black woman who finally came to the window. As a black man that makes me slightly less comfortable. The woman then went on to tell me that the order would be 5-10 mins till it was ready. As this was an online order set prior to them opening in the store not being busy that was too much for me, especially after wasting almost 5 minutes on nothing. To note I did arrive prior to the time of the food being ready, but by the time someone came to the window it was time that the food should have been ready. I asked for the food to be refunded given that I placed it in advance, didn't like the service there, and was in a rush to get back to work. She came back a minute later with the food and asked if it okay that the food was 1 minute late. That of course was fine with me but I wanted to say no as I didn't fully trust the food at that point. I decided to go ahead and take the food. I would like to note that the woman I spoke with was pleasant in how she spoke and didn't come across rude at any moment. Upon my refund request she only said let me get a manger so no complaint there. The food I must admit was decent. The OG that I got was a nice size and pretty flavorful. The shoestring fries were cool and even the mac was decent, which I thought would be unflavorful. The comeback cause was the only thing I got that I could do without completely. So food was the best of my life but definitely good enough that I would've returned. Overall I just won't be going back to a place that had no since of prioritizing a customer when they are clearly not busy. Also the look from them seeing me and seeming to smirk (could be me overlooking into it cause I was upset) as they passed, then food that was ready way too quick after just being told it would be a while. I had to check everything before I ate it and with all the creamy sauce idk.
