Tulum Travel Review: May 29 - June 3, 2025 A vibrant, sun-soaked adventure full of stunning meals, cenote dips, and unforgettable beach vibes. Day 1 - Arrival & Arca Magic We landed around 5:00 PM and eased into Tulum life at our home in Aldea Zama. The evening kicked off our trip beautifully with dinner at Arca--a true jungle gem. The ambiance was electric, and the food set the tone for what would be an exceptional culinary journey. Day 2 - Ruins, Disappointment, and Hartwood Bliss We started the day early at the Tulum Mayan Ruins--a must-see with breathtaking ocean views wrapped around ancient history. Afterward, we headed to Caleta Tankah, which ended up being a miss--run down, poor service, and not worth the stop. Thankfully, Hartwood saved the day. The food was outstanding--easily one of the best meals of the trip--and the people and energy made it even more memorable. Day 3 - Cenotes, Beach Vibes & Chef's Table We spent the morning exploring Casa Tortuga Cenotes--a fun mix of adventure, clear waters, and unique cave swimming. Then we headed to Papaya Playa Project, where the music, beachfront setting, and chill vibes made for an awesome afternoon. The night was capped with a private chef dinner at home, which was both personal and delicious--a special memory for the group. Day 4 - Breakfast, Beach Club Bliss & Latin Nights We started with an excellent breakfast at Rosina Café--fantastic food and a walkable gem. Then off to Nomade, where we soaked in the stylish, serene beach setting and indulged in flavorful bites. That evening, we dressed to impress for dinner at Rosa Negra. With live music, fire shows, and Latin glam, it was a high-energy, vibrant dining experience that didn't disappoint. Day 5 - Final Beach Chill & Kin Toh Letdown Our final full day was spent back at Nomade--and it was absolutely the right call. Calm, beautiful, and easy to enjoy without a schedule. Unfortunately, dinner at Kin Toh was the biggest disappointment of the trip. While the treehouse setting and views were undeniably stunning and worth the visit (something like a Dr. Suess book - think birds nest above the ocean and palm trees), the food was overpriced, underwhelming, and the service was frustratingly poor. Definitely not worth the hype--or the bill. Day 6 - Farewell Tulum We packed up with full hearts and great memories, ready to head home. Tulum gave us a beautiful mix of culture, food, nature, and connection--a trip to remember. Highlights Best Dinner: Tie between Hartwood (for the people) and Arca (for the flavors) Best Daytime Spot: Nomade - relaxing beach luxury Top Experience: Casa Tortuga Cenotes Letdown: Caleta Tankah and Kin Toh - style over substance Hidden Gem: Rosina Café - perfect breakfast Tulum, we'll be back--but we'll skip the overpriced gimmicks and head straight for the soul of the town next time. read more
