I subscribed to the World (and Tribune) for over 50 years. When they were locally owned, they gave subscribers the news. Then, they were sold, and sold yet again to national groups who raised prices, and raised prices, and raised prices, etc. I stuck with them because it would be a shame for a city like Tulsa to lose it's one remaining newspaper. Not anymore! I am retired, and on a fixed income so, reluctantly, I quit subscribing because I cannot pay $727 per year. I tried asking for a senior discount. Very disappointing. Tulsa deserves a better local paper. I had an online account, and it was nothing but constant popups and tech issues. Getting hold of a human to cancel my account was ridiculously difficult. Can't be done online, so I had to call, only to be put on hold. Gave callback numbers twice because of the hold times, but after two days nobody called back. Finally got through and had to fight to get some guy in India or god knows where to let me cancel. This newspaper previously screened ads for scammers. Not anymore. There are scammers in the display and classified sections of the paper. Most of the "news" can be found on the internet the day before the paper is published. Not a good paper. Why everyone in this city does not have a subscription to this paper is a mystery to me. Some feel it's too far to the right. Others think it leans to the left. In reality, it goes both ways. Different journalists have different biases. The paper is extremely reasonable. Home delivery for seven days a week is less than a dollar per day. On top of that, the Sunday paper is loaded with coupons. You could easily get back what you pay for the paper in savings at the grocery store. What makes this paper wonderful is that it is full of useful information. They don't give as much detail about world news or even national news but their local coverage is excellent. Don't know what to do this weekend? Look in the paper. They have a listing of events going on. Wondering how the local sports teams are doing? They have you covered. If you're interested in how the Dodgers or the Mets are doing, you're SOL but you can find out who the Driller's third pitcher's mother's first grade teacher was. This is the first newspaper I have ever read that has two crossword puzzles in every edition. How sweet is that? Plus two cryptoquips and two Ken-Kens. Every day you can give your brain a nice work out over your breakfast. And the paper comes delivered right to your door. On a few occasions I have had minor problems but they make sure you have their phone numbers when you subscribe and one call takes care of everything. All-in-all, I have to say that this paper gives you your money's worth. read more

As far as building architecture, I love the capitals on the pilasters. I like the sign they added too, especially at night! As far as on-line Tulsa World, I am glad to see Tulsa headlines. I also like their hard copy crossword puzzles and Scene. read more

The Tulsa World signed me up for a twice a week delivery (Wednesday and Sunday) at a rate of $8 per month - $96 per year. After the year ended, they raised the rate for my two newspapers a week from $96 per year to $244.40 per year. Really ???? Subscription cancelled ! read more

Try to get home delivery. Then try to call in because deliveries are not made. Hope you like 45 minutes of elevator music. Don't expect to get anything actually resolved. Expect to make several calls over an extended period of time; days or weeks. The parent company is actually out of state and doesn't have good internal communications with the local departments. As far as the news and reporting go, I would give the Tulsa World 4 to 5 stars. They have some really good reporting and I always like to use Mr Cherry's restaurant reviews to get ideas about where we need to go next. My complaint is with their website. Once I found out how less cluttered my life was by switching from hard copy to online subscriptions for both the newspaper and other magazines, I knew I could never go back. I used to love www.tulsaworld.com. But then a while back (a year ago? longer?) they greatly altered the format. I know it has something to do with targeted advertising, but don't understand the details. I know their advertising is important, but when it renders the sight useless so many times, there's no point. I can't count the number of times I've given up waiting on it to load if I have anything but the fastest of internet connections. I don't have this issue with other news sites, so it's kind of insulting to pay for tulsaworld.com when it won't load half the time and sites like cnn don't have this issue and their free. If they ever fix their website, I'll gladly be a subscriber again. I miss that! read more

I would rate higher if the paper could be delivered to the correct house so that we might have an opinion! This isn't a new thing either, this has been going on for the past 8-9 months? Maybe longer? I have to go her house, get the paper out of the neighbors yard before they wake up and put the paper in the Tulsa World Box. We purchased the bright yellow box from the Tulsa World so they would get the right house and she wouldn't have to go all the way out of the house and down the driveway. She is elderly and doesn't get around well anymore. Just wish i could get her favorite paper to her to read. :( read more

I called in at 8am today 7/15 to let them know that we were given Wednesday's paper. We were assured that today's would be brought to house. Called after 11am, no paper yet, offices closed and automated system said "you've reported the problem before, leave a message" then promptly hung up on me!!! Very frustrating!!!! read more
