Call In New Orleans we decided to visit Tulane University. We walked around the campus and visited the bookstore. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the open campus. It was a fun experience. There was lots to see.

I went to a beautiful recital of a great pianist Lera Auerbach. She was playing at Dixon Concert Hall/Newcomb Department of Music. We all got a chance to hear Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition and her own composition Labyrinth inspired by Borges. I rarely get a chance to sit on the other side of the stage, it felt very nice to be an audience and enjoy beautiful music. Chairs were very comfortable, but rows are very narrow, so not much leg room. It's hard to see what's going on on the stage if somebody tall is siting in front of you. Most performances don't have assigned seats, so choose your seat wisely - no tall people in front :) There are only two small bathrooms on the 1st floor by Dixon Hall, which usually creates long lines in the intermission and/or after a concert.

An amphitheater would enhance the experience, but other than that, it's great! I attended here for four years and had a positive, dynamic, supportive, colorful time. The trees bring a special sense of soul to the campus. Thanks Tulane! Xoxo sab

I have been here on several occasions. A friend of mine is an alumni, and I have come with him for a Tulane's Got Talent event, a production by the drama department and a few other events. My most recent visit was for the Armistad Research Center whose mission is to document the voices of minorities and their contributions to society as a whole. I look forward to coming to other events here, as well as making an appointment to see some of the exhibit at the Armistad Research Center. Great university, great contributions to the community.

Tulane is a wonderful University with a great campus. Although I'm not a student, I have several family members who are alumni. Tulane partners with my kid's grade school to host performances throughout the year. Dixon Hall is a very accommodating facility that offers a nice space for our school performances. The arena style seating assures good acoustics and optimal viewing of the stage. Tulane also partners with our school to offer free tutoring.

Being a New Orleans Native. I've always known where Tulane University was. But now that my son is a junior in high school. It's about that time to start looking for his school of choice. But as a mother I know what's best right lol This amazing school was not on my son's list. But I signed him up to do the walk through as a family. We did and he loved it until he seen the price. I explained to my son that you should definitely not look at the price and look at what this school has to offer. It's a very hugr campus with all types of nationalities. But still my son was stuck on the price. My advice to you if you are deciding to travel to New Orleans to check out this college is to check it out more than once. You will fall in love with the students the staff in the culture of New Orleans Louisiana. It's definitely more than just food, music and southern hospitality.

Really felt welcomed on our campus tour. Very scenic and easy walk from one end to the other. The St. Charles trolley stopped directly in front of campus, so transportation around the city is easy as well. The only downside, as college campuses go is that the dorms are mostly old and worn looking.

Lovely setup for prospective students

WOW - what a beautiful campus filled with friendly people in one of the most interesting cities in the world. I'm so impressed that they are so service-oriented, and hold students to such a high academic standard. We went for a campus visit for prospective students, and I've come away with a great appreciation for the staff and faculty, as well as the long-term donors and those who support the college with large gifts. If I could do it all over again, I'd choose to come to school here - what a great place!

It would have been a 5 star rating if it weren't for the recent cuts President Cowen Made. Bring Back Tulane Engineering!

I have not fully toured the Notre Dame Seminary but have attended meetings there (Just Faith information meeting) and have visited the Archbishop's residence when he invited the Young Adults for a reception. I truly appreciate the Archbishop because he is very approcheable and welcoming. I have lectored for him at a Young Adult Mass and he is kind enough to remember me and ask how the Young Adults are doing in the community. New Orleans is very blessed to have him here with us! As I mentioned in my tip, Christ in the City is for young Catholics (20s-40s) gather in the Notre Dame Chapel for eucharistic adoration and reconciliation. It starts at 7pm and usually lasts for about an hour. I would recommend getting there early because parking in the horseshoe fills up quickly. But there is also street parking as well. Last night the chapel was lit by beautiful candles at the altar and it was lovely. The service has singing in both english and latin, then the priest says a gospel, and there is silent meditation. Meanwhile, the last pew on the left hand side is reserved for the sacrament of reconciliation. There are usually two priests on hand to administer this sacrament. After the silent meditation there is more beautiful singing and then a procession. After the service, be sure to get a free drink ticket where everyone meets across the street at Ye Olde College Inn. It is a beautiful time for prayer, eucharistic adoration, reconciliation, and fellowship!

I have been to this facility twice in the last month for Zulu krewe parties. The Zulu Social Aid…read moreand Pleasure Club is the largest predominantly African-American Krewe in New Orleans which was initially a benevolent aid society. The origin of the Zulus dates back to the early 1900s when the Mardi Gras celebrations themselves were segregated. In 1949, Louis Armstrong was chosen as King and saw it as an honor despite the belief by some that parading black face further influenced racial stereotypes. Anyone who has been to "the parade" on Mardi Gras Day can attest the krewe of Zulu, their elected characters and riders REALLY know how to have a good time. The partying, though year round, typically intensifies 60 days before Fat Tuesday. The convocation center has quite the reputation as well. This renovated gymnasium was formally known as "The Barn" at Xavier University. There are three nearby parking lots and the building is rather spacious. The last event (1/16/16) was easily able to accommodate more than 2,500 guests with tables, chairs, dance floor and a stage. A good time was certainly had by all. It seems, the building is rented out for private events including concerts and sporting events. I would not go so far as to say it is nicer or as nice as renting hotel space for a cocktail event, but it is undoubtedly a more affordable option. Particularly if you can stomach looking at those black and gold chairs up top.
