I had bought some glasses online and then fallen over and bent them out of shape - oops! I went into the shop unsure as to whether they'd help me but they did - the girl was really friendly and spent a few minutes heating them up and bending them back into shape for me. They weren't perfect but she made her best effort and they were good enough to get around in. It's a pretty new shop - I think it's been there a couple of years now, so everything inside is still relatively nice looking though it's a lot smaller than their city centre branch so you may need to go to a bigger store if you're choosing frames. I'd be happy to go back here for an eyetest any time though.

However it turned out to have a great choice of glasses, not at all any dearer than those chains, with some big name designers if that matters to you plus their own range which is actually pretty funky. I picked up a pair of red rimmed glasses with leopard-print arms (rowr) plus got a pair of serious rock star shades half price. In fact there was so much choice I gave in and accepted the help of one of the staff, who did this thing where they take a shot of you wearing the different glasses, just using a simple webcam, and then put them up on screen all next to each other so you can compare. Sounds embarrassing? Yes it was. Sounds idiotic? Actually it isn't, because it turns out I was wearing glasses way to big for my head because I had some weird idea that I had a balloon head (distorted female self-image? Discuss.) and so ended up getting the aforementioned cute glasses which I wouldn't have thought I could get away with before. After care service was impeccable and always ever-so-friendly, and I get my contact lenses from them as well. One word of warning, don't ever try and visit their website, it takes forever to change pages, just give them a call.

They were also able to advise on style and steered us away from a more expensive style of glasses which didn't quite worked. Highly recommend if you are looking for new glasses or prescription glasses. The excellent service and upfront attitude would lure me back to this store.

I did have the OCT scan as the health of my eyes is so important to me - being able to identify potential problems before they can be seen with a visual eye check or experienced by myself means that problems can be treated before it's too late! The reception team was very helpful when choosing new frames and don't try to push more expensive frames. The fitting by Steve Dury when picking up my new glasses was thorough, unhurried and friendly so that when I walked out of the door I knew I will be very pleased with them. The opportunity to sit in the Designer Lounge with a cup of coffee, listening to pleasant background music when choosing from their fabulous range of glasses made the whole experience great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a lovely smiling receptionist who made me feel really welcomed.. The initial form fillling etc was very smooth and I was asked to take a seat- I was even offered tea/drink! never had that before in an opticians! Didnt need to wait long before being called in by the optician who was also very nice. Best of all they had all the lastest technology (none of those horrible specs u have to wear to do the eye test) it was all using automated stuff. I was very impressed! the receptionist told me that I had a half hour slot which was great as I wasnt rushed and it was free!! I didnt need glasses in the end but I would reccommend that u try these guys, they were by far the best opticians I ever been too and i'll be going back.

Beresford Opticians pitch their business to all, and Stewart Greenburg Opticians are more into their designer labels and soliciting businesses from wealthier patrons. Like Stewart Greenburg Opticians, Beresford Opticians is an independent practice, but they actively welcome both Private and NHS patients. They also carry an extensive range of designer glasses and sunglasses, but it isn't as comprehensive as the range that you will find at Stewart Greenburg Opticians, who claim that they could very well stock the largest selection of designer frames at affordable prices in South Wales. I like Beresford's. They have one outlet, and so all of their energy is focused right where it's needed. They have spent some time considering the look of the place, which is modern and funky, but most of their efforts are centered on their customers.
