I have not been to Punjabi's practice in some years, but I use to go on a regular basis…read more I had a severely sore throat and he told me to sleep off a cold, but if I got dehydrated, from not being able to swallow, to go to the ER He also prescribed an antibiotic, which I later found out was not the right one. I went to the ER and got an IV and then sought an Ears, Nose and Throat Dr, on my own, luckily I didn't need a referral, at that time. If I did, I'm sure Punjabi would've charged me another co-pay for a referral. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and had pus removed with a needle. I got better and then weeks later got tonsillitis again and had a tonsillectomy. Dr. Punjabi diagnosed me with low Testosterone, although I didn't have any of the normal symptoms. I was prescribed a testosterone gel. He sent me to a Urologist, nearby, Dr. Solish. After I went to see Dr. Solish, Punjabi told me that he didn't like Solish and he was ready to retire and that Solish's partner was better. Dr. Solish did nothing for me, but try to be my psychiatrist and talked to me about personal issues. I found out later, when I talked to another Urologist, that I should have been seeing an Endocrinologist. I'm not sure whose fault this was, but when I got tested for testosterone again, it was fine and was told that the initial lab test was a fluke. (Dr. Solish has not retired, nearly 10 yrs later and still performing surgeries at Einstein.) Dr. Punjabi will do anything to get you to come in again. For example, if you get your cholesterol tested, he will tell you have to make an appointment and pay a co-pay to discuss the results and it was typically a lengthy wait. When he told me I needed to lose weight he recommended walking and told me not to worry about diet. My current Dr. communicates through email and will provide routine lab results or referrals electronically, without a visit.

I never thought a doctor doesn't listen to his patient. This guy DOES NOT LISTEN. He has a dirty one track mind. If you don't fit his stereotype then YOU are in the wrong, not him... He actually said at the end of the horrid visit that because I was such and such, he didn't just throw me out of his office. WTF? I didn't know how to react. So I am posting this. He is a rude SOB who should stop practicing. It may help the community get a better reputation by not having such a negative ninny in it's midst. He had to give me my med scripts by law not because he is a good doctor. He sucks. (did I mention that earlier)

The average wait time before being sent back is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Had a problem with a referral she made out almost every time I needed one, whether it is the cardiologist for an office visit or the hospital for testing. She always blames it on the other doctor's office. She is not doing me a favor, that's part of her job, which I am sure she would have gotten fired from a long time ago if she wasn't family! I would not go there again, nor would I refer anyone else there. Stay away.

There is nothing more off-putting than a customer service experience where you're expected to have…read morethe same knowledge and expertise as the people you're seeking help from. This goes double for the medical field. We go into these offices for help, the kind of help that shouldn't be substituted with a Google search or AI. So when I'm met with a team that makes me feel stupid for not knowing their processes or procedures, especially when they try to soften their condescension by calling me "hon" or "sweetie," very little makes me more incensed. I find it ridiculous that customer service representatives at T-Mobile can demonstrate better bedside manner than people working in the medical field. Medical professionals enter our lives when we're often at our most vulnerable. To be treated poorly under those circumstances is such a shame. Unfortunately, that was my experience with the front desk staff here. I understand that they deal with these processes day in and day out, but they need to understand that, from a patient's perspective, we're hopefully dealing with them very rarely. What is routine to them may be unfamiliar, confusing, or even frightening to someone seeking care. Let us ask questions without judgment. Offer genuine assistance instead of making us feel like an inconvenience for not already knowing the answers. The room itself wasn't dirty, but it was unkempt and didn't look like it had been properly prepared for the next patient. I actually had to ask whether the paper lining on the examination bed had already been used because it certainly looked that way. The PA explained that it looked like that because she'd been folding things, but to me, it very clearly looked as though someone had been sitting on the bed. It didn't look like items had simply been placed there while being folded. I'm not suggesting the room was unsanitary, but patients shouldn't have to question whether the examination bed they're about to use has been prepared for them. I don't need anyone to coddle me. My basic expectation is to be treated with respect and dignity. The medical team themselves were great, and I want to make that distinction. But the front desk staff left a lot to be desired, particularly when it came to the most basic expectations of patient care.
