This is my new go to spot for haircuts. I was going to a few different places before a friend of mine recommended TRU GLORY. I've gotten my hair cut and beard trim by Tito, Manny, and Rob. Each of them did a great job and it turned out exactly the way I wanted. They have an easy online booking system through the app Booksy. Im sure there are other ways to book, but I've always used the app. They are falling all Covid related protocols and the shop is always clean. The prices are fair, and everyone is always friendly. Worst haircut of my life!!! Place is a mess. Fourth time there; twice my hairdresser had an emergency and canceled the same days. Looks like a lot of emergencies. Either my hairdresser from today was drunk or he didn't know what he was doing!!!! He also took my mask off without saying something to me and put it to the side. I told him I prefer to wear it. Seriously, avoid this place. Yes, the owner called me after my posting, I was not rude. I was being attacked on the call from him. I simply stated the fact that out of 4 appointments, 2 were canceled due to emergency. He owner seems to be hung up on that issue but not about the terrible haircut I got, not the fact that the stylist took my mask completely off my face without asking. If the mask needs to be removed one side at the time for cutting around the ears, I understand but don't take the complete mask off my face and put it to the side! I take my son here for a haircut when his usual barber is out or out of desperation. I really want to love this place but I'm just not there yet, reason why we hop around to different shops. My ratings are from 1-10. 1 being the lowest, 10 the highest. Service and staff: 8- It's a barber shop. Appointments are honored timely and the cuts are quick. Upon arrival you get the usual "Hi, do you have an appointment. They will be right with you." If the woman is greeting you'll get a friendly welcoming smile. If it's just guys than it's pretty much the standard "who are you here for" look. The barbers are NOT rude, so that's a plus, but none of them are very personable either. But that's my experience. Cut: 8- Agg this is a tough one for me. The cuts are legitimately good. They fixed my son's hair line one time when a barber jacked it up. He likes to get skin tight fades that are tight because his hair grows so fast. One time they tightened it right but another time they didn't listen and his hair grew back in a week. For the price, if the customer ask for a tightened fade, make it tight please! Which brings me to pricing, it's overpriced. We can get the same cut in the Bronx for less but paying the toll and gas over the bridge will just bring us back to paying $35 for a skin tight fade. However, I did read on their website that they give free haircuts to the homeless or ppl in need, which I fully support. So I don't mind paying the price since it supports their mission and small business. I desperately wish Yelp had emojis. Pandemic precautions: 10- chairs are sanitized after every customer. Barbers and staff all wear mask and gloves. Temperature check and hand sanitizer is given upon arrival. Chairs are feet apart. Overall, I rated this barber shop a 4, mainly because I support their mission on helping those in need and the decent hair cut my son receives. I'm not committed yet, Manny was my sons barber but while booking my sons next appt. I believe he is no longer there. I recommend trying this place, for your own experience. The place is clean and very well maintained. No one is rude and they will do their best to accommodate in giving you a great haircut. Eat and live well! I cannot speak more highly of Tito and how he helped me out last minute with a haircut. I had been searching for days for someone to give me a cut before I left on a trip to London. I work in BK but live in North Bergen - most shops are closed by the time I get home. I was about to try a BK "hipster" shop but TG came up in my google search and I saw that the owner, Tito, did house calls. I've never thought i'd be one to get such a service, but Tito was very polite, arranged a time, and was extremely punctual. The barber(s) - Tito and team are skilled, listens to what you want, makes recommendations based on your head shape(if you ask for it) and doesn't rush your cut to get you out the door. They truly care about your satisfaction. 2. The environment - Clean, welcoming and modern minimalistic design. 3. Cost - $15 for a taper/fade and/or scissor trim!(Most places charge $5 extra for scissor work). On Tuesday's, they have a $10 haircut special!!!!! That is unheard of!!!!! I have coarse hair (as do many other Asians) that can be difficult to cut but my barber Elson Rodriguez cut it perfectly.
