Joy does NOT have the ability to do your work for you and lastly Joy does NOT by any means sell herself short on the services that she provides. Joy, you are an absolute god send. Seriously.... I have been thru various counseling all of my life but that didn't resolve my issues nor did it really give me the tools needed to actually resolve them. So since I had tried that previously and pretty much got the same result, I knew I had to try something different. So, what did I do? I went to my trusty yelp and reached out and received several responses. I had a few phone interviews because I needed to find the right person to help me thru some heavy stuff. I liked Joy right off the bat. You can simply tell by the tone in her voice that she is an angel. I signed up for 6 sessions with Joy...and after my 6th session, I signed up for 6 more. And I threw Joy some crazy challenges (nothing in my life has EVER been easy)....there were issues that she flat out told me she couldn't do anything about (I appreciate the honestly more than you know) and there were some issues where I really feel like I challenged her but guess what? SHE NEVER GAVE UP ON ME. SHE NEVER TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION (again she doesn't have a magic wand). Instead what I received was far far greater than any gift...Joy gave me the tools I needed to see where my deficiencies came from and also gave me some positive insight as to how to fix the behaviors and this is something I now work on EVERY SINGLE DAY and it's made me a better person. So if you feel like you are stuck, and don't know where to go, and you have tried traditional methods (and they haven't really worked) I would seriously urge you to give Joy a call...set up and appointment and more importantly work on your (O&*%(Q*&)%(. He's funny and caring and restored my faith in humanity (not even joking) because when I had walked in that room, I was sure all humans were bad. Kathleen, she has the most kind and gentle soul. She made me feel seen and heard. We loved having her when Stan was out. Douglas, he was hilarious and brought a good sense of humor to the classes. I was sad he had gone back to Roseville. Gayle, a kind and caring nurse. She made me feel listened to and also validated. Tatiana, taught me stuff about the brain I'll never forget with such a passion too. The rest of the staff 10/10. I love all of you guys!! Now for the content. It's easy to understand and even though the PHP program is short, I managed to have this stuff hammered into my head quickly. I loved the workbook and the excessive (but helpful) packets! I appreciated that there is freedom to keep your belongings and go on walks on your breaks. The one thing I would change is there being two stalls in the bathroom instead of one, but that is beyond the control of the program workers and is a building owner issue. I felt so connected to the people in my group in just 10 short days. I cried on my last day multiple times because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to them. In fact, I didn't ever want to. These are my humans. We were treated with so much respect and kindness that sharing deep traumas and emotions was easy. Thank you Heritage Oaks for changing my life. I wish I could have stayed longer and if I hit my max out of pocket this year, this will be the first place I run back to for a refresher. I want to recognize several incredible staff members at Heritage Oaks who made a genuine difference…read moreduring a very difficult time in my life. Most importantly, MHT Ruth. Ruth has such a grounded perspective on life and a natural ability to lead with both strength and compassion. She was a calming voice when so many of us were dealing with anxiety and other struggles. I still do not understand how she could work back-to-back shifts and continue showing up with that level of patience and care, but she did. She paid attention to every patient and somehow knew when someone needed reassurance, guidance, or simply a steady presence. She is a beautiful soul and an exceptional MHT. MHT Diane was incredibly kind, attentive, and supportive. Her warmth mattered, especially on the difficult days. Nurse Kristine was one of the most empathetic nurses I encountered. She genuinely cared about how her patients were feeling, not simply what needed to be checked off for the day. And Nurse Naz -- I will forever remember Naz. Naz's attitude was basically: get well, take your meds, we have things to do. Naz could be responsible for what felt like half the unit and somehow stay completely on top of everything. I genuinely do not remember Naz ever forgetting a medication request. They even stepped outside the usual nursing role at times to help with things like taking us to lunch when the MHTs were busy. Naz personally discharged me, which made that moment especially meaningful. And yes, I absolutely noticed the fashionable outfits. Whenever Naz came back on shift and said, "Allie, I'm your nurse," there was a tiny internal squeal of excitement because I knew I was in good hands. Social Work Intern Kim was also wonderful. She was thoughtful, encouraging, kind, and inspiring. Finding out she was working toward a second master's degree made me admire her even more. Somebody hire Kim already. And I especially want to recognize floating Nurse Marina. The level of compassion she brought onto the unit was extraordinary. Marina was BUSY, and somehow she never made patients feel as though she was too busy for them. She listened. She noticed what people needed. She showed up. She cared for every patient with patience and empathy. She is incredibly beautiful on the outside and somehow even more beautiful on the inside. Her willingness to care so deeply meant more to many of us than she probably realizes, and that was remarkable. Inpatient psychiatric care happens during an incredibly vulnerable period in someone's life, and the people caring for you during that time matter. These staff members treated us like human beings and helped make an extremely difficult experience feel safer and more manageable. And for the record, I am VERY happy to be home ‍. I still have dark moments and my brain is absolutely still doing its little nonsense sometimes, but I'm sleeping, taking my medications as prescribed, using my coping skills, and doing the whole "functioning human being" situation. Apparently this is what getting back to normal feels like I'm grateful for everyone who helped me get here, but respectfully, I am NOT trying to earn another stay. I was dismissed after asking to reschedule because of my disability. I was never told before…read morearriving that my appointment was going to take 2 plus hours. Had I been informed in advance I would have planned accordingly. Instead of showing understanding, or offering a reasonable accommodation, the office chose to dismiss me. I tried to explain that my transport was to be here within the hour, but the staff would not budge. The girl went in to Dr. Greer's office and when she came out, she pointed to the door and literally threw us out. I am a 71 year old gentleman with many comorbitities, and still they had no compassion. They basically kicked me out of the office in the extreme heat as I waited for my transport in my wheelchair. My caregiver called them once we got home, and the woman who answered said that the report indicated I was swearing and abusive. I got angry because she threw us out, as anyone would have been upset, given the rudeness and lack of compassion. My caregiver went back to retrieve my 20 page application that I tediously filled out. When she got to their office, she overheard Dr. Greer inviting someone back to his office for a beer. Their lack of communication and respect for patients with disabilities was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend. This raises concerns about how patients with disabilities are treated. Patients deserve clear communication, respect, and equal access to medical care, not to be penalized for requesting accommodations. I have filed a complaint with the appropriate agencies so this experience can be reviewed in its entirety. Interestingly, I believe that a HIPAA violation took place, as it could have been anyone picking up my PPI.

Then the girl in the cubicle behind her looked over her wall and asked if I had an appt. I said yes and she asked me my name. Then they had me go into the "medical" room which felt like an old living room with a medical bench that was messy. I sat in a recliner, the type you would see in somebody's living room. It felt really odd. Both girls acted like they were just people off the street. They started to take my blood pressure and I asked them "is this even a real doctors office? " and the girls looked at me and said yes. I said it doesn't feel real - on top of that they never ONCE asked for my ID or medical card. I kept telling them that this place was so weird and that it didn't feel real, and both girls just kept saying."yeah... it is weird" then finally the one girl gets on her laptop and starts going over my medical notes that I submitted online and she literally just says "how can we help you today? " I was an absolute shock. I have never walked into a. "drs" office where they didn't know what they were going to do with me. I explained to them I have no idea, what does it say in your notes? My doctor referred me to you and you guys are the neurologist so why am I supposed to tell you what to do? And then she just kept asking me. How can we help you today? I was so freaked out this place felt so sketchy, I just ended up leaving. Don't go here!
