Being military and moving around a lot, we have found it hard to find churches in places that welcome us as an interracial couple. We bought a house off of Ruddell and decided to visit the church. We adopted three children, all of African decent and when we entered the church, we immediately felt the stares. I gave two stars for the lady who welcomed up at the visitor counter, but that was about it. Everyone else stared, even when I attempted to speak to a couple of people, they turned their heads and looked away. This is supposed to be churches and God created us all, but the feeling and looks of disgust as if I were a disgrace being there honestly hurt. I wanted to listen to the message, but ai felt out of place. Toward the end, there was a coffee bar. We stopped for an Italian soda and I gave one last test. There was a heavy set white gentlemen sitting with his daughter. He looked at me and I said, "hello sir" with a smile. He turned his head, looked away and started talking to his daughter. Sadly, I won't be back. The sign says, "Welcome" but I felt like I wasn't welcome at all. read more
