She said she had "lots" at home and asked if we lived in the area. We said no, but would be passing through again in a few weeks. She promised to bring in 40 quilts if we would call ahead, which we did. Made an appointment for noon on Monday and scheduled our return trip from Gainesville FL so that we would be on time. Arrived promptly at noon and were back on the road by 10 after. She had not had time to bring in the quilts! An hour detour for nothing. Won't go back....and to those hordes of shoppers they are expecting from the Paducah Quilt Show, don't get your hopes up folks! The few low quality quilts that are there are salted with imported quilts!!

Know ahead of time that Metropolis, IL is cute and charming as heck. But besides this, there is pretty much nothing else to do besides Harrah's Casino, so I'd recommend it more as a road trip stop rather than spending a weekend here. You can easily be in and out within 2 hours max. The Super Museum, however, was a LOT more than I expected! This collection of Superman memorabilia is insane, and has so many pieces that are decades old, from many of the films, and some random, quirky stuff. The tickets were only about 8 bucks and you can spend as long as you'd like in there. They've got a pretty awesome gift shop, too! This is a really neat attraction to stop at if you're driving through Southern Illinois!

We've been on vacation for 3 days and I hadn't had GREAT coffee until this. I got a latte and my hubs got regular medium roast. Both were quality coffee. I had to get a second latte- that's huge for me! The doughnuts- oh my! Hubs got a lemon filled; I got a cruller with chocolate. Fresh and fantastic! Hubs wanted a second lemon filled but they were sold out! We've been to several gifts shops on our trip to western Ky and this one actually has unique items! And souvenir shirts I'd never seen.
