I have been to many fish stores in my day. This one beats them all. Don, the owner, is a great guy. He knows everything I had a question about and doesn't try to sell me things I don't need. I will start by saying I like most of their fish selection. They could have more fish. I found that they have fish dead in their tank and should be a brighter environment for customers. The staff is lacking on friendliness and attentiveness. I think their prices were high and was able to get what I wanted from aquarium arts in Mesa and much more fresh and salt with way more appropriate and uplifting service! I have seen worse but I have seen a whole lot worse. read more

Always have a great experience with this store. We have bought many fish, couple reptiles as well as equipment and food. Comparing prices, they do a good job to be the low cost provider. I'm not sure how you could give this place 5 stars. It's absolutely filthy. I will admit their prices on hard goods seem to be good and they treated me fine, but the place stinks and the marine aquariums are filled with algae and who knows what. I feel bad for this guy because I think he just doesn't have enough help in the shop to keep everything clean. Sam was very nice and helped me with what I needed. I just think they should spend some time getting things cleaned up. read more

Don is amazing and very helpful, I have a budget and he makes sure to get me what i NEED not what i will spend the most money on. I have an african tank and i do wish their were a few more african selections, don does try to rotate the fish stock as much as possible but the service makes up for everything! top notch in my book! read more

We recently bought a blue hippo from this place, only to find out it had ick. The fish died 3 days after purchase. The tanks and aquariums especially for the saltwater fish were filthy and a mess. I should have known not to by from this place. read more

Don is a very knowledgeable person that always helps me out. I see the review that another girl left and it makes me sad. This woman is completely wrong about everything and is trying to slander his business. Rats sleep during the day and there is no dead feeders in the store. When a rat dies all the others scurry to eat it. He grows algae on the filter she is talking about to feed all of his plecos and cichlids. This store although not the newest is always doing water changes and making sure the fish are healthy. Sometimes we see injured fish but that's only because he takes them in from people to treat them. This is also true about the axolotls, they came in as rescues. This store is very well priced and don is the man. If he doesn't have something in store I'm sure he can get it. read more

Purchased a bearded dragon and a new habitat. The owner was extremely patient with my 11 year old's questions about her new pet. Will be the only store we use for our reptiles and fish. Ended up also purchasing a new aquarium for our other daughter. read more

Not very personable at all, place is a mess , and not much of a selection. Went in to get water tested and purchase a few items and the guy working there seemed more annoyed that I was there than anything so I found it easier to just put back my merchandise and leave. Hopefully the owner reads this and really let's it sink in, customer service is key and without it you have nothing. All though this shop is a mile from my house I would rather just make the drive somewhere else. read more

TropTreasures is my kind of store. Competitive prices on items such as AquaClear filters, fish and tank accessories, freshwater fish, etc. Where they set themselves apart is in the area of advice. Also, they have a decent supply of more hard-to-find guys like Candy Cane Tetras, Black long-finned Tetras, Assassin snails. For the do-it-yourself types, you can often find interesting used tanks and stands- if you've got mad skills for refinishing stands, really detailing silicone tank seams, and don't mind out-sourcing tank tops and l.e.d. lighting, then TropTreasures could be just your cup-o-tea. Well I found this great little store because my neighbor goes there. I went in & looked at everything, must say I was impressed with the prices! I found a 55 gallon screen for my tank so happy about that find. The owner & his employee (Savannah) they're just awesome! They went above and beyond with helping me. Greatly appreciated I'd recommend this store, there very helpful & really kept me happy. Not only will I only shop here for my pet babies but, I would highly recommend checking this store out. Note: I like to look around for deals, the same exact screen I got here at tropical treasures for 27/28$ was 40$ at this other pet store If your in this to make your pets happy for reasonable prices... check this fantastic little store out! I try to keep from going in because I simply can't get enough out of this store! I've got reptiles and amphibians and I've yet to be disappointed by this place. Went to a couple big box places looking for a screen top for a larger aquarium and was told they didn't exist or needed to be specially made. The gentlemen in TT chuckled and said well we've got them in a couple different brands right back here. Anything I've needed they have in store or can get quickly. Small mom n pop places like this don't hardly exist anymore and that's a shame. read more

Started off with walking in to not be greeted, just to be looked at and quickly glancing away. I followed up with saying hi and got a low-effort hello in return. The fish tanks were decent, a few dead fish here and there but decently stocked and diverse. I found what I was looking for and the female store associate was more than happy to assist me and answer all questions I had. She had great customer service and was very helpful. The reason for one star is simply for when we entered the store and when we checked out. The associate or owner by the name of Don seemed to be a nice guy from what I could tell while waiting in line to check out. He was great with the customer he had that was in front of me, until it was my turn to check out with the fish I was purchasing. I don't want to say it was necessarily discrimination but it is hard not to feel that way given the interaction with the customer before me. Yes, they were the same ethnicity and I am obviously different. His demeanor totally changed and also his attitude. It seemed as if he was annoyed with my question I had and I felt rushed with no customers behind me. This was the worst customer I've had with any fish or pet store. I left feeling un welcomed and don't feel it's that hard to provide basic customer service. read more

This place is alright, at best. The living conditions of their animals is questionable. Some of the snake's seemed thin, and their tanks were dirty and smelled of dead mice. I've been to other locally owned reptile shops where their tanks were clean and viewing the animals is easy. At tropical treasures, some of the snake/lizard tanks are stacked so high, you have to grab a provided step stool just to view them. The quality of equipment they sold was great, top notch stuff. Their prices are iffy depending on what you want. The owner gives great advice on what you need to care for your animal. He was very kind and helpful. read more
