First visit to this church attending a requiem Mass for a dear friend of mine…read more This is one of the most beautiful Catholic churches I have seen in the Greater Los Angeles area. The religious art, pews and stained glass give a definite throwback to traditional churches. There are several large video screens that give parishioners or visitors a view of the Mass. The area where the Deacon/Cantor and pianist were located had a very nice sound system and the parts of the Mass are projected onto the video screens. Technology enhanced the Mass and didn't distract from it at all. Very beautiful house of worship. I noticed the Parish property extends across the street with a hall and a school campus. I did not visit these areas. On a personal note: Parking was challenging for me. There was some accessible parking across the street. It was slightly inclined and then two sets of stairs to get up to level of the church entrance.

We are fans of Christian rock and we are so impressed by the talent and passion of the musicians. We can't help but feel the spirit and sing, dance and sometimes cry along. 2) The kids program is the best in the Westside. There is a four story kids building on the campus and the teachers make it fun with games, video Biblical stories, crafts and meaningful write-ups for children to engage. 3) The church is very welcoming. Every Sunday, new members are encouraged to register and connect. The church then invites you to a welcome lunch with the pastor and to join a small group or topic based event / prgoram. We just signed up for a 3 month Sacred Marriage Group. One of the volunteers also took us for a tour of the church and campus on our first visit, and there is coffee available for the community. After the music portion, you are asked to greet and get to know someone new next to you. It's very sweet and Community oriented. 4) The sermons are action-oriented and based in biblical stories and teachings. We are given a way to reflect and take action each week, which is a nice way to absorb the learnings from the sermon. I do like the Biblical readings and translations and would love even more of this because I feel the Biblical teachings ground us in the source substance and weight. We look forward to experiencing more and are grateful to have found a gentle and spiritual home for our family

They are constantly giving opportunities to meet others also. For many years (20+) I didn't go to church at all until I found JOF and fell in love. We moved away and miss this church so much and sometimes make the long drive to come back. We went for about 18 months every Sunday. I simply cannot believe other people on here gave it a bad review, so odd. The worship is incredible and if you're coming in late you're really missing the chance to be properly warmed up to hear the message!!

I heard people saying it took them a year or 15 churches to find their church and I was like I don't want that to happen! I had already tried two other churches and done a lot of research in my area, but it wasn't until I prayed to God one night to reveal my church because I didn't wanna wait that long, and the next Google search, this one came up at the top! One that hadn't popped up in my searches prior. Upon hearing Pastor Brandon, preach, I was blown away. I felt like I was getting a master class in theology. Turns out later I found out that he actually teaches at Biola or Talbot university, which are Christian colleges! I went to a women's fellowship gathering right after and was so welcomed by everyone. I saw comments of people saying that they felt excluded, and that's maybe possible in their experience if they also didn't try and say hi. At church, if you are newer, you don't know everyone there yet. Just like me, I don't know everyone yet. I'm barely learning a handful each week. But I made sure to introduce myself to as many people as possible and just say hey, I'm new here! And everyone was so excited to hear that I just got saved and to hear part of my testimony. I am a dark-skinned Hispanic woman also and have not felt any prejudice at all. I've also listened to sermons there where they absolutely emphasize that as a follower of Christ, it does not matter your ethnicity or where you are from; we are all children of God and united in the body of Christ. I quickly joined two Bible studies which I'm in right now and attending church every week. One Bible study is on Ephesians and another one is a discipleship Bible study. I'm already getting baptized on November 2! I will be joining the worship ministry team and the deliverance ministry team as well. All the classes have been very organized and I just really feel at home at my church. I even love hanging out before and after services and just seeing who's around and saying hi! I wanted to go somewhere where the Holy Spirit feels alive and where I'm learning so much, and I really am here. I am so grateful God led me here.
