Yesterday was my grandmother's funeral. But it didn't feel like a funeral. It felt like a church…read moresermon. A service. Not a celebration of life as they said it was. They only originally allowed 2 immediate family members to speak about my grandmother. And my family fought for 4. But her grandchildren and any other family members who didn't speak were subjected to the karaoke mic in the Cafe AFTER the service which not one person used. I couldn't speak on my grandmother's funeral because they needed to have a sermon to fulfill their agenda of speaking on whether a boy should be a boy or a girl should be a girl going as far as bringing chromosomes into the mix. I couldn't speak at my grandmother's funeral because they needed to pump 1 more worship song into the mix to meet a quota I'm assuming. The 2 pastors spoke more about the "word of God" than my actual gramma. Some said this is what she would have wanted but no it wasn't. She was a godly woman yes but she was a Family Woman and would have wanted everyone to get together and speak and tell stories. I have been to many funerals. I was even able to speak at my coworkers funeral. But I couldn't speak at my grandmother's. Absolutely the worst funeral I've ever been too as it was hijacked and used by the church instead of sending her off or giving the family the closure we needed. You can't fix this. There isn't a "redo" button. My grammas gone. An absolute travesty of a service for a woman who deserved the world. A woman who made towels for all of my swimmates in highschool with their names on it, but no one will know. The same woman who joined me on many business adventures like buying a cutco set from me or joining me when I joined Primerica for a short time. A woman who made me shirts for my reptile business to support me. The woman who gave me my green thumb. But no one will know. Because I didn't get to speak at my grammas funeral.

God lead me to this church that would prove to be a source of great love, support, and strength at…read morea critical point in my life. They provide literal shelter and safety for me when I had no one and nowhere else to go--I found rest, community, hope, and safety. Pastor Glen speaks from the living Word, messages are deep, impactful, and invites reflection, conviction, and motivation. The congregation is warm and welcoming---they are truly living out being the hands and feet of Jesus. I don't know where I would have been or how I could have gotten through these past two years without them.

I walked in feeling excited, happy, and hopeful and walked out feeling sad, depressed, and like scum. Not the feeing I want to feel after going to church. Nothing political based. When we walked into this place you could tell it was a very large church. It felt very voltage in the aspect of them immediately telling you what you can and cannot do where you can and cannot go if your kids can and cannot sit with you. It's just very weird from the beginning. As my intuition was going off like this is weird I don't like this. But because we're looking for a good church we went ahead and went forward with the sermon and so forth They wouldn't let my son sit with us that he had to go and be with the children. My son is well behaved and he would've done fine inside the church. For me and my family we like to stick together when we go to church. I don't like my son being separated from me. I also didn't like that everything was so secretive for example when we dropped him off at the kids place, they wouldn't let us like look in the door or go in with him so that he can get situated. Mind you this is the first time he's ever met any of these people any of these teachers it was just very bizarre. Very weird experience. The actual teachings that they did or the actual sermon that they did was OK it felt more of like a preacher just babbling up there with no actual point and deciphering his view and interpretation of what is stated in the Bible verse what is actually being taught and again it was just kind of like this blabbering for an hour. I personally would not recommend this church. I lid you are looking for something more family centered, community oriented, smaller church. we're very much used to smaller churches that feel more home we will not be going back.

Through the process of serving and breaking bread on numerous occasions I got to know the man and his passion for God and serving his people. A very personable and genuine person I wouldn't hesitate visiting his church if I lived in his area, in fact I look forward to doing so soon.
