I grew up in the suburbs of Colorado and was surrounded by conservative churches that felt more exclusive than inclusive. When I came to New York and began to look for my own church to attend, I ran into similar places. But being a new Christian from a multi-racial and liberal background, I didn't fit in. Catholic, Baptist, Reformed - all didn't fit well with what I was seeking. I can't count how many different services I attended before I finally got lucky and ran into Trinity. Trinity wasn't what I was use to and, in fact, was what I was looking for.
Trinity is located in the heart of Astoria in a beautiful stone and concrete building covered in stain glass. Hardwood decorates the modest yet cozy interior. A large and wonderful organ fills the large church hall every Sunday. Trinity is a beautiful looking church and if you like traditional church archetecture, you'll enjoy it.
The congregation of Trinity is small but very friendly. Many members have been attending the church for decades. There are also several young members and even a few children. Worship is traditional and structured, filled with songs and traditional creeds. Intermin Pastor Michael Church preaches contemporary sermons that cross current pop and news events. Everything is centered around the sharing of faith with fellow Christians.
Above all, Trinity is a very open, friendly and liberal environment. Members of different backgrounds, culturally and racially, mix, help, and care for one another. Queens is the most diverse city in America and Trinity is no exception. I'm a half mexican and I feel at home here.
If you're looking for a traditionally run service in a liberal, contemporary, and fun environment, check out Trinity. You'll be glad you did. read more
