Whether you're meeting friends or just spending some quality time with yourself, Café Trussardi,…read morelocated in the centre of Milan near the Teatro all Scalla, offers hospitality and relaxation in an elegant setting, complete with cocktails and caviar that are out of this world! While killing time between walking the beautiful streets of Milan, I wanted to treat myself to a small snack and a drink (or two). I was impressed by the modern design, with crisp angles around every corner and natural, clean colors. From the moment I entered I felt a sense of calm, and the server greeted me and showed me to a comfortable seat along the bar. The list of cocktails was very diverse, and the drinks menu reflected the upscale atmosphere. I decided to start with a cocktail called Beer Americano, a mix of bitter Campari, red Vermouth, and white beer, topped with the zest of a fresh orange. This was a uniquely refreshing cocktail, as the citrus notes really picked up on the herbal flavors of the Campari. I chose to indulge in Trussardi Calvisius caviar, an excellent choice to match the flavors of my cocktail. This is seriously the best caviar I have ever eaten, fresh, a notch salty, but delicate and delicious. After my Beer Americano, I knew I had to try at least one more cocktail on the list, and ordered the Apple Tru, crafted with Calvados, cinnamon, apple, ginger and BBB bitters. Perfect for fall. I'll definitely be returning to try more cocktails!

Thankfully, the menu had a variety of options with various prices, although most of it was above what we wanted to pay for lunch. I was still able to get a 15 euro plate of well-made pasta. Since it was early in our trip, I did not mind eating pasta. My friend ordered a pumpkin soup with bacon and scallops which she really enjoyed. The person serving us was polite and helpful. She let my friend try several different wines before she decided on what to drink. Our overall experience went from being skeptical as we walked in to this place to being satisfied as we walked out.

Last night I went for dinner tho, and I was not so impressed. My and my friend both drank two glasses of wine (one during the happy hour), and had both appetizers and desserts. It was ok, nothing to die for, and the service was slow. The two desserts were especially not so special: a basic chocolate mousse not so tasty, and an almond/pistachio tart dry and hard as a rock. We ended up pay 28 euro each - a little bit too much for the food we get. But again, before this dinner my lunches were always really nice, with a different tasty menu, and fastest service for work lunchers.

The wine selection was fantastic, both by the glass and by the bottle. Service was excellent. We opted for the sidewalk dining since it was a nice night; however they have tables inside as well. The service was very bad, the server tried to tell me to get a 50€ steak when I kept just asking for a simple salad. The salad and a water were 30€ total. Ridiculous! If you're hungry, do NOT go here! Because to eat a normal-sized meal here would probably be minimum of 60€, if you want an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Crazy!

If you come for the aperitivo, you don't get the usual buffet: they serve a couple of dishes per person instead. And, boy, they are good! Cheese with honey, tarts, ham, mini-burgers, mini-meatballs, cous cous, mashed pumpkin... Name one tasty thing and you have it there! And just when you start thinking that some pastry would be nice, there you go, a delicious slice of chocolate cake materializes in front of you! Now, as if it wasn't enough, a special mention goes to the cocktails. Very few, but very thoroughly made, with a crazy attention to details and presentation. If are you like me and enjoy having the aperitivo with something wine-like but stronger, don't think twice and get the Maffei 75: prosecco, gin and lemon, it's really as good as it gets! I'm coming back here as soon as I can!

The words of love I have for this small, home-owned bar on the outskirts of Milan could not begin…read moreto explain one of the most amazing experiences I had in Italy. After reading the review of a fellow Yelper, my date, and I made a reservation at this bar for Aperitivo, the happy hour of Italy. New to the scene, the general concept being, you buy/order a drink, and you get complimentary snack, food, munchies, etc. Reservations - easily made on yelp. We made our reservation early, and got there 20 minutes late, not realizing how far the walk was from the train station to Prog, halfway there we almost gave up, but glad we didn't (only because it was cold). After getting there, we received a warm welcome, and they seated us immediately. We ordered our first round of drinks, and although I do not remember the names of the drinks, they were, by no exaggeration, the BEST COCKTAILS I HAVE EVER HAD. Presentation was a 5, taste was a 5, and the time taken to make each cocktail was nothing short of a masterpiece. The bartender was such a sweetheart, and it was amazing to watch him make his art! Aperitivo: TO DIE FOR. It was dissimilar to other aperitivos I have come across, in that it was basically like a 3 course meal = so AMAZING. We got some chips first, then a plate of assorted cheeses, assorted tuna appetizers, and a ham like tostada with dipping sauces that were interestingly complimentary. Second we got the 'main course' - which was little mini burgers, with a side of mashed sweet potatoes, cornbread and potatoes. My date is a pescatarian, and the wonderful lady was more than helpful, and offered him a fish main dish instead of the mini-burgers. He was delighted, and I was so happy that they were so accommodating. Lastly, a chocolate crumble cake for dessert, which was mouth-watering, but we were so full, we couldn't even finish it! Halfway through the main course we ordered more drinks, two lychee flavored drinks that were delicious as well! (You can see all the pictures below of our fantabulous meal). Note: All the food is homemade so it was delicious! Originally we had plans to go 'Aperitivo hopping' - but this was our first and last stop, and it was thoroughly amazing! The food, the drinks, and the service was impeccable from top to bottom. I cannot recommend this wonderful little cocktail bar enough! Don't miss it! Tip: If you check in on Yelp, you get 20% off! Normally drinks are 10Euro, but we got them for 8! Where else can you get a full 3 course meal, and 4 drinks for 24 Euro!
