On that note, basically it is a very nice simple location with adequate facilities and reasonable prices. It's definitely not as fancy as you might get somewhere else, but it's not trying to be. So if you're just looking for a place to go practice your swing, this is great. Relaxed atmosphere and a little bit of quiet without driving to a country club is great. They also have a simple mini golf section. It's really definitely not their main feature. And in the offseason times like Fall, you probably won't be seeing it cleaned much, so expect leaves on the course. That said, it's kind of like a seasonal Hazard that changes up if you think of it that way. You can tell people mostly come for the practice range. But on a plus side the lack of crowding means you would have a lot of fun with kids. And unlike other mini golf areas nearby, you don't have to contend with being quite as noisy. There isn't a lot of traffic on the nearby Road and you actually are set off well enough with trees to make it feel a little more easy-going.

North Carolina Golf Academy Driving Range - Ball Vend-o-tron, buckets, pepsi machine

This golf driving range has been here about as long as I can remember, and it's really starting to…read moreshow its age. In general the entire premises could use some TLC, and though I'm generally just one of those "give me an open field to smack stuff into" kind of guys, I can't help but feel that there are better fields to smack little round white balls into. From the entrance, the paved driveway is being gradually reclaimed by the surrounding woodland, and that can kind of be said in general of the whole place. The parking lot is more than large enough for the range, even on the nicest of days I would think. The clubhouse is no longer a clubhouse. Over the years it went from being walk-in and stocking a few items, even re-gripping clubs on demand, to just a window with an attendant, to now, no attendant. That's all honestly fine with me, the ball dispenser seems to work fine, even if giving it your money isn't the most intuitive thing in the world. Other than the ball vend-o-tron, you get a pepsi machine. Speaking of giving it your money, it's $10 for a medium bucket of balls currently, which is 70 balls. That's higher than most of the surrounding golf courses, particularly Jamestown, which has recently overhauled their range into a better experience on days with or without a mat. On the subject of the balls, they need to be purged. In my bucket, I got about half newer balls, and of the remaining half, balls that still had dimples but were covered in gouges and marks, to balls that have been weather-worn almost completely smooth. This item needs the most attention, as I'm not really getting any kind of accurate practice with balls that bad. On my visit, it was "mat-only" but i kind of get the feeling that is the default here now. The grass in front of the matted area is non-existent. The mats do not have tees for you to hit driver, nor are they the newer mats that you can actually slip your own tee into. The result is, people hit irons off the mat, then step forward onto the dirt to tee up for driver practice. On the plus side, there were more than enough tees for me to scavenge instead of using my own. The short game area has fallen into total disrepair, it's not even acknowledged anymore. On a nice spring day, at any given time i was there, there was probably about 10-12 people. Means this place makes a decent chunk of change, and someone just comes along now and then to tractor up the balls and refill the vend-o-tron. A pressure washer, new mats that are tee-able so they can re-seed the grass in front, and a bunch of new range balls would really bring this place back to prominence even if the short game area is never to be used again.

Surprisingly, this place is open! The phone number on yelp (as of March 2024) is not updated…read more They are open until 9 most weeknights. Balls are reasonably priced vs other places, grounds are maintained well. I wish all the lights worked at night (need to stick close to the entrance after dark), and wish the parking lot was lit as well.

This has been exceptionally frustrating for me as I'm a pretty decent athlete. I got hooked again at the end of the last year and decided to try lessons and went for a swing evaluation at Golftec. Cayce rid of my slice in less than an hour. I've been taking lessons since and am hitting the ball better and have a better understanding of my golf swing than I've had before. Everyone there have been very accommodating, whether I'm there for a lesson or practice. I highly recommend it if you want to improve your golf game. And who doesn't?

GOLFTEC has a great system in place as a company. The value is there with lessons, fittings, etc…read more But, this GOLFTEC is poorly managed by Brinson. He was inappropriate with his "casual" style during the fitting by giving me unnecessary and immature nicknames. For the investment of club fitting, I expected more professionalism with GOLFTEC clientele. I still went through the fitting and was promised a time frame to receive my clubs, but due to fulfillment issues with the manufacturer, the clubs came 2 months after my fitting and way past the expectation that was set by Brinson. I totally understand that it's out of GOLFTEC's hands in this case, but I am disappointed that they came incorrect. I received them right handed rather than left handed. This mistake was based on a manual error on the GOLFTEC ordering system according to the manufacturer. I got in contact with Brinson quickly after. Although apologetic, he did not take accountability. Brinson then told me to be patient to see what he can get done and started to deliver promises of communication with his VP (never delivered) and send over golf balls (never delivered). After displaying some frustration over email, Brinson called me during work hours and didn't respond to my email. He left me an inappropriate and emotionally fueled voicemail after I left a follow up email. My request was to at the least get a tangible view of the new order and after the call, he didn't deliver and left me in the dark. I discussed my frustration with another local GOLFTEC and they agreed that it has been poorly handled and reassured me that this is an anomaly of their organization's culture. I plan on letting my network in RDU know to not give their business to Brinson at GOLFTEC.
