I'm giving a 1 star, not because my experience was even worth a star but because it is necessary to…read moreinitiate the review process Poindexter Lumber Company, Clemmons NC is NOT the place go for kitchen cabinets! Let me start this review by saying I should have turned and run the first morning my husband and I met with Bobby to discuss our cabinet style and design. In the hour we spent with him, he gossiped about a customer who had recently ordered red cabinets, and another customer who was wasting their money on new cabinets when she had an outdated odd pass through in her kitchen. He also told us all of the dirt on his female coworker whom he can't stand and was trying to get fired (but I'll just leave those details alone). I viewed this as very unprofessional and didn't have time for it so my responses were: did he advised against the color red for future resale potential, or did he suggest opening up or closing the odd pass through in order to update the other lady's floor plan. His response both times was "No, that's what they want". Well, common sense should have kicked in and shown me that if he was not professional enough to make constructive suggestions (he so eagerly gossiped about); he surely did not care about the outcome or the customer relationship. No skin off his nose as long as Poindexter Lumber Company got the cash. Should I have known better, yes. But in my defense, I had full trust in Poindexter Lumber Company, as I had for twenty (something) years. I specifically told Bobby that I wanted no lazy susan cabinets, as the contractor had mentioned from a preliminary plan. Bobby also suggested a pull out spice cabinet, and I said absolutely not. He was told no several times concerning these expensive extras, but he ordered them anyway (without my consent or knowledge) and they were installed while my husband and I were at work. And since no order summary or inventory list is given -written or verbal, just a bill total, he had free reign of my money. This action I consider a form of theft - bill padding. He ordered these extras to bump up the sale to benefit Poindexter. This, in my opinion is the worst part of this whole mess. This is about as unethical as business can get. When I came home to see these in my kitchen, I told the installer take them out, he said "Bobby said they can't be returned". Of course not, how convenient and profitable for Poindexter Lumber Company. Hope Bobby got a cut for all his efforts. It's not over...the cabinet design was at most haphazard. Cabinet doors opened onto the window, large gaps underneath the cabinets (one was 2 1/2 inches! Hope I can add the pic showing my entire arm going up in between the cabinets!) Word to the amateur...learn how to read the plans given to your installer! The installer left his plan copy (from Bobby) in the kitchen and these gaps were planned by Bobby. Management at Poindexter Lumber (Chris - Owners grandson) says not their responsibility. Heard it no less than 15 times in response to everything we had to say. He was informed that his employee added over $6000.00 worth of cabinet extras to our bill and about the 2 1/2 inch gaps between the cabinets, but all he would say was "I know I sound like a broken record, but it's not our responsibility". Poindexter took us for $12,000.00.
