I hadn't actually been planning on buying anything; I went in to browse and came out with a very pretty pink dress that was perfect for attending my sister's college graduation. I found the staff extremely friendly, making small talk as I checked out, asking if I was buying the dress for a special occasion, telling me a little bit about themselves. It had a very family-business-feel, though I don't know if it is, and very relaxed. There was no coming up while I was browsing the racks and trying to pressure me into buying anything. I was given my space and I really like that when I'm shopping. And the clothes were quite inexpensive. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I'd be happy to drop by again.

Both female volunteers, who looked like they'd be more at home dressed in black and hunched over a bubbling cauldron, were rude without provocation to multiple customers while I was there. No one could ask the simplest of questions without getting a snide reply. Why volunteer in a position that requires you to interact with people when you obviously can't stand them? Management might let them get away with it since they aren't getting paid, but they are definitely costing the shelter/thrift store in terms of lost sales. I had found a few items I was planning on purchasing, but did not due to their ugly behavior, so that was $40 in sales that didn't happen.

We brought in a quite expensive clock for evaluation and repair, and the younger Ernest was kind enough to give me a tour of their shop. I was astonished and very impressed by the number of clocks I saw. Ernest was very gracious with his time and showed me literally hundreds of clocks, most of which were rare and expensive. She managed the on-site portions of the process efficiently and communicated reasonably well during the sales and cleanout phase. However, once the sale was over, communication essentially stopped. I was told by Mari that she would send me the sale proceeds amounts that evening, but then I was completely ghosted for several weeks. After daily attempts to reach her with no response I had to send a formal message with a deadline stating that, if I did not receive a response and check I would be filing a police report. Only then did I receive a reply. The check that arrived was for only $1,100 for an entire home full of beautiful items, with no itemized list of what was sold or for how much. There was no transparency about pricing, totals, or how the proceeds were calculated. I felt taken advantage of at a very vulnerable time, and the lack of documentation and communication raises serious concerns about how funds from different estates are being handled. If you are considering using her, I would strongly suggest insisting on a detailed written report of itemized sales records and I would encourage you to sit at the sales monitoring items that were sold. From what I could see she list items at a high price and collects alot of unreported cash.

Will try a few more times to catch her by phone and if nothing will have to contact the district attorney for their advice.
