Trelai Park is in Caerau, a district in the western area of Cardiff, and while the majority of it is fairly boring (made up of typical urban park facilities such as sports pitches, tennis courts, a bowling green, allotments, and so on), there are also parts of it that are more interesting - such as the wooded areas and the remains of a Roman Villa that have been preserved at the heart of the park (a Scheduled Ancient Monument).
The River Ely runs alongside the wooded area of the parkland, and this is the part that's richest in birdlife and other wildlife. The park has a footpath that also links up with Leckwith Woods, offering further walking areas.
The main park entrance is down the lane leading off Vincent Road, and there is a large car park on Trelai Park which is for people using the park. read more
