Disclaimer: I'm putting this on YELP! I was very skeptical on visiting Bike Barn store after my horrible encounter with the Bike Barn Katy Store. John in the Katy store made me feel like my money wasn't good enough for the more expensive bikes, and his questions/suggestions were just horrible. After some research, I come to find out Specialized was only sold to authorized retailers, meaning Bike Barn was one of the "big boys" in town that sold the bike that I most desired. I felt very anxious, and not in the good way, on visiting another Bike Barn store. For some reason I chose the Cypresswood location (still far from my House), and met Mr. David. First off, wow! This guy is extremely generous, courteous, patient, and extremely attentive to his customers. Not once did I sense arrogance or displeasure of him. He was an amazing person, and he took his time in showing other options and alternatives. Obviously, his goal is to sell for the store, but when I advised him of my previous encounter, and that "I'm just here to ask questions", he completely respected me. He took so much time in making sure everything I wanted in a bike was fulfilled and available. He was such a pleasure to do business with that even though I didn't go into the store with the intent on purchasing a bike, I ended up making my first road bike purchase..... UNDER ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE from David! He made me feel that comfortable, and listed so many options for me, that when it came down to making a final decision of my purchase..... it gave me a sense of liberty and happiness to know that I'm buying the bike that I want versus feeling suckered in by a typical salesman. My experience was extraordinary! Mr. David was awesome to me, and I will forever be a customer of his on all my future purchases. I'd rather drive an hour out of my way to go see him, than to go to any other Bike Barn. Please ensure that Mr. David is recognized, because of him, I'm now referring all of my colleagues, students, friends, and family to visit the Cypresswood location versus the Katy location (which is down the street). Only giving one star so that I can leave a review. Horrible customer service, employees did not follow through on what they said they would do. Spent two hours at Bike barn on Cypresswood looking for a bike which ended up in an online search and search through the store as the bike we went to purchase showed as in their current inventory look up. It was left as they would search further the next business day to locate the bike and give us a call if they found it so that we could purchase the bike. Next business day being Monday 7/19 they did not call... Tuesday late morning I called the store to follow up on the search as I wanted to purchase the bike for my husbands birthday. After a full explanation of the situation to the rep who answered the phone, I was told that they had to take my number again and someone would call me back as they were to busy to take my call. I received a call back at 4:19 pm with a voice mail stating they found the bike we wanted to purchase. I returned their call at 5:00 upon leaving work and was told that they sold the bike to another person right AFTER leaving me the message. Not even giving me a chance to return their call. This is the poorest service I have experienced. Never ever again will my family do business again with bike barn and we will make an effort to share this story will all of those in our community and biking communities. Unbelievable!!!! read more

They have a great selection of bikes & accesories. Went in to buy a seat for my bike & was waited on very quickly but the young guy waiting on me was rude & not very friendly. Rubbed me the wrong way when I decided to not buy the seat & walked out but still said thank you & was not even acknowledged. read more

I really wish Bike Barn was better. I've starting biking again in the past year and I bought three bikes from this Bike Barn (two for me, one for my wife). When my bikes are working well, they are lots of fun. But the key here is when they are "working well". I've had to take my bikes (one a Trek, other a Specialized) in for servicing numerous times, and usually for the same problems. It seems like these bikes are not durable and/or the fixes are not "long term". However everything has been expensive... bikes and repairs. I have experienced that "don't care" attitude from the employees. I get a sense they are just there to fund their own biking obsessions. I do give them a 2nd star for supporting the off-road bike trails in Collins Park. When I over-pay for questionable service, I justify it by thinking I am also paying for the trails. read more

I came and got a new bike here. The staff was very nice and helpful. I like to ask allot of question before making a purchase and they had no issue with me asking an annoying amount of questions. They really took the time to make sure I was getting the right bike for me. They didn't try to force me into a more expensive bike. (Which honestly I asked why don't I just buy a more expensive bike). They made sure the bike was right for me. Very good experience. read more

I was in this shop yesterday looking for a comfort, cruiser, or bike-path/urban bike for fun and exercise. I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who asked me what I was looking for and gave me excellent answers and was able to point me to examples of the products he thought I'd be interested in. I'll admit that the shop is a bit higher end than I'm probably going to buy from, but I really appreciated the friendlisness and quality info. As I haven't owned a bike in many years, I'm more likely to start back on a Schwinn than a Trek or Electra. While they're selection is limited, he assured me they could get me what I wanted. If I had the extra $$ to spend, I'd gladly spend them here! As I was checking out a bike or two on the sidewalk out front on my way back to my car, the guy who'd helped me came out and apologized for forgetting to show me one of the bikes out there and gave me some more info. It is a nice, quiet and clean location not far off the beaten path if you're in NW Houston. read more

We visited Bike Barn yesterday afternoon for the first time. We planned to purchase new tires for my jogging stroller. My husband also wanted to look at the mountain bikes, as he's been trying to convince me for a while that we need some. After walking back to select some tires, we had a hard time locating the right size. No one had acknowledged us or asked if we needed any help, so we waited in line at the front register. My husband told the employee there what we were looking for. The man walked into the back of the store, stayed there for a few minutes, then walked out with a bike for another customer. He walked right past us to the parking lot for a demonstration without saying a word to us. My husband and I looked at each other in shock for a minute, then finally realized that we had overstayed our welcome. As we left the store, the man who had abandoned us watched us leave, and didn't bother to acknowledge that either. I can guarantee that we, a family of four who will probably be purchasing bikes soon, will never step foot in that store again. In the words of Julia Roberts, "Big mistake. Huge. Went to 5 other bike shops before finally going here. This should have been our first stop. We finally found a great selection with very friendly , attentive and knowledgeable sales associates. We will only use this bike shop!!!! Special thanks to David who just had shoulder surgery and still helped by getting us multiple bikes to ride and try. He was very patient and kind. read more

Do NOT get your bike serviced here!! Very condescending service guy told me over and over how terrific he was with over 20 years of experience fixing bikes. All I wanted was a flat tire fixed. He assured me everything was fixed, and I stupidly took his word for it. (Didn't check the tire) Carried the bike back home in my car, and by the time I drove home the tire had completely deflated! Checked it out and realized the ENTIRE INNER TUBE WAS MISSING!! The service guy had removed the punctured inner tube and not inserted a new one. He just pumped the outer tire full of air and called it fixed. Either he was a complete idiot by "forgetting" the new tube THAT I PAID FOR (!) or he wanted to show me who was in control. I was completely patient, kind, and polite while I was there; there was no reason for him to treat me like that. Was it because I am a middle-aged woman and not a buff bike guy? I don't know. How in the world this place keeps customers, I have no idea. I had a different bike store fix the tire. I wasn't about to come back to Bike Barn and have this guy touch my bike again. read more
