Cute and simple tourist spot. If you love Christmas, I can imagine this is a great spot for all year long. Items are quite pricey but if visiting here it is a nice thing to see. read more

Give yourself permission to get lost and wander! It's worth it.

I am a little bemused by this statue/landmark…read more I stayed at the hotel directly opposite which meant that every day I came out and was greeted by the sight of Kate Moss' crotch. As appealing as this may sound to many (if it was the actual Kate Moss I can't say that this wouldn't appeal to me either) but a pure white, 12 foot tall effigy of the supermodel was little, uh, odd. I felt a little dirty just looking at it, as if I had opened up the centrefold of a top-shelf magazine in the middle of McDonalds just as a bus load of school kids came in for a happy meal... However, it does intrigue me, it does make me want to look at it, the fact it is of a person that is so well known in such a...well...obscene pose does make this a worthwhile stop for those nipping through this already lovely gallery. Arty, shocking, intriguing, obscene, serene....a few words that sum this up, and yes I know they are contradictory.

There are many paths to follow to get here, but if not beeing a local, the best advice will be to follow Batterivegen (follow road 118 from Råde Missingmyr and park by Slangsvold road 58). The total distance from there is about 3km. On the top you can find a sign with information on the history of this place! Bring your lunch and coffee, and you might even make up a fire! Love to go to this place simply because its not a crowded tourist place - there is plenty of room for you!

This is an amazing area to come visit while in Oslo!!…read more While here on vacation in Oslo, I was interested to visit bygdoy for a few various reasons. First of all, this is a nice area with lots of natural scenery, fresh air and open space. Great to visit in order to escape the craziness of the main city area and to experience the museums (the majority of the museums in Oslo are situated out here on this peninsula). We took a ferry from City Hall to get here after purchasing our Oslo Pass. The ferry was a very enjoyable ride. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day and made for a great boat ride, during which we got to capture lots of great pictures and see some open water. Many nice houses and boats situated along the oslofjord to observe on the way. Upon arriving, we were glad to see much open green grass to picnic and enjoy the view; the museums are also located close by. We first stopped at Fram (polar ship) Museum, but decided to skip Kon-Tiki Museum. After that, we wanted to see the viking ship museum and the norwegian folk museum, but we quickly discovered after consulting the map that those 2 places were located a bit of a walk away. After enjoying a nice, pleasant walk we arrived at the museums. They were both very enjoyable and could spend hours there. There are many homes and locals located on this Peninsula of Oslo, which i was surprised to discover; however overall we had a fabulous time and really enjoyed having a visit here. I would recommend to other people who come here on vacation. By the way, the Oslo pass is worth the money in order to get entrance to all the museums and transport here!

This is a very hyped-up area in Oslo. It promises to be this place to hang out in cools cafes,…read morebars, and restaurants. I guess its interesting but it all seems just a little too much contrived. Basically, Grünerløkka is this one very long street. Yes, there are tons of places where you can grab a drink or a meal. And yes, in the evening this place can get pretty full of both the local crowd and the, "Looking for something Oslo-ish," travelers. So, it serves its purpose. But, it's just really not that much fun. Some of the bars get way too crowded awhile others are just empty and looking for customers. That's the paradox of this area. This street does have few shops that are pretty interesting. So, it is worth the visit. Just don't have too high of expectations. I'm not saying anything negative about this area, you just need to know what to expect.

Speciality shops, the best coffee shops in town, the food court Mathallen, and plenty of restaurants, pubs & cafe's.
