I attended here for the first time due to a community event. If you attend at some point, know that…read morethere is plenty of parking. Also, its location is fairly convenient if you are in the Augusta area. Though I have driven by quite often, I realized upon entering that the space is far bigger than it appears from the outside. The main synagogue appears to seat at least 500. And of course the beauty of the historical and religious decor and relics is beyond description. There was a meeting/dining area adjunct that we entered into after the event and it seemed just as spacious as the synagogue. But what I did not get to see was an entire wing of classrooms and offices. With a history of existing for almost 200 years, I could have only hoped to read enough pamphlets to glean all of the stories. I will also mention that the members present made me feel welcome and that I appreciate their stance to be inclusive and their support of the LGBTQ+ community.

I was looking for a hotel, and for some reason Siri drove me out of the way to this synagogue. You couldn't meet a nicer bunch of people, the Rabbi, the Cantor, everyone that is there is wonderful. I really believe that God somehow brought. if you're looking for a nice synagogue with all ages of people who make you feel so welcome I suggest you give it a try and go there. I came from a mixed family of my mom being Jewish my dad Christian and my ex was a non practicing Muslim, what a mixed up family. I never felt quite like I fit anywhere so I'm not really religious, but I believe in God with all my heart soul mind and always felt my Jewishness. Like I just know that's where I belong. The strange part is, I am very shy, and at this time in my life I have no family at all. Walking into that synagogue made me feel like I had friends. I want to thank them for their kindness. If you're a practicing Jew you will love this synagogue and if you are like me coming from a family of mixed religions and 1st and 2nd generation Americans this might be the place for you.
