I was sure I had made a good decision on which equipment I would get for my plein air painting: The…read moreOpen Box M. I had seen many 'famous' artists using this system, and they all said they love it. I decided that this would be the year to get outside in the summer and paint 'en plein air' (outside!)... So, in March 2022, I ordered one of their boxes. And I waited. And waited. I was patient, due to all the Covid-related supply issues, and the fact that he is a small operator...all of this was fine, or so I thought. I emailed the shop in May to inquire about the order. No response. I emailed again a couple weeks later, no response. I checked their website again. It had some kind of "shop schedule", in an attempt to let people know when their orders would be done...It still promised that new orders will be done within a couple of weeks. ? Wait, a couple weeks? I've already been waiting a couple of months! Did he forget my order? I sent another email, no response. Around the end of June, I contacted them by phone, trying to get an idea of when my box might be made, and shipped. He responded with a phone message about not being able to get some parts, but now he has them and mine would 'probably be ready to ship next week'. Awesome! What a relief! I must have been concerned over nothing. ... Well, no, not. Weeks went by, nothing. I checked their website again. The 'shop schedule' that they say will be updated regularly, had not changed. I called. The phone message was all friendly, saying that he had been in contact with many customers by text, and that was a good way to contact him. I texted him. No response. !! Then suddenly one day, I got an email from them, with the subject line: "Your Order Has Shipped!" Oh, I was elated!! Finally !! I could go out an paint outdoors, yeah!! But, then I opened the email, and it said that the shipping label has been created, and was waiting on...the package to be delivered to the post office to ship. He had just created a shipping label!! Nothing else. So today I still have not received my order. But he has my money. I am writing this because i WISH that I had found this review before I ordered from this Open Box M, because I would NOT have! I DO NOT recommend this company, no matter how many famous artists use it and love it. Find some other way to go. Support someone with integrity who will say what they do and do what they say.

Do NOT order from this company. I ordered an easel and paid for it in full plus shipping. Since I…read moreplaced my order three months ago, I have had zero communication from them. Dozens of emails and texts have been unanswered. Barring some miracle, I am sure I have been scammed and my money has been lost. WARNING!

These trash cans are made to be bear proof- they're virtually indestructible. The city and the county seems to have hired these guys to do a bunch of their work around this part of the state- you can see their distinctive style all over. They do that iconic Yellowstone look of silhouettes of mountainous animals like bears, elk or eagles for light fixtures or even the lowly recycling bin. They also do powder coating here! This operation is quite impressive, with the amount of metalwork that they're spinning out of this shop on Broadway, you can see their work everywhere around town! They have a showroom of a lot of their works, which is all quite reasonably priced, especially when you think about how indestructible all their work is! Not even a bear is going to mess up their stuff.

You'll see their work all around town - from the bear-proof, yet decorative, trash cans on Broadway, to the fantastic gates to the Double Ditch dog park (if you have pups you need to take them there!!), to what seems like a bazillion of the business signs in the region. Enter the shop and you'll find an eclectic mix of work - utilitarian simple pieces, complex custom designs, Montana-centric tables, repurposed/reclaimed ski benches and humor (my fave amidst the cowboy and western "Welcome" signs is the similar but contrary "Go Away" sign). Still, our favorite piece is the custom coat/clothes rack with our son's name - works perfectly in his room and will last longer than any of us. Alanna and Mick, thanks again - wonderful work!
