As a frequent visitor to Frankfurt, I am convinced that this city offers more than just skyscrapers…read moreand business buzz--it's a city of contrasts waiting to be explored. The tour took us beyond the usual sights, weaving through iconic landmarks like Römerberg, Frankfurt Cathedral, and Carmelite Monastery, while also brushing past modern hubs like MyZeil and Hauptbahnhof. What sets it apart is the personal touch: hidden alleys, local eateries, and stories that reveal the city's layered soul. From the Iron Bridge to Goethe-Haus and Alte Oper, the tour dives deep into Frankfurt's heritage. Whether you're drawn to history, architecture, or global flavors--like the Middle Eastern dishes at Ya Medina or South Indian fare at Saravanaa Bhavan--you'll leave with a richer connection to the city. Known as "Mainhattan" for its skyline and river setting, Frankfurt blends tradition with innovation, making it ideal for short stays, cultural breaks, and day trips. A city of trade, tales, and timeless charm.

I wanted to find an informative walking tour of Frankfurt during a recent visit & found Frankfurt…read moreOn Foot through Yelp. Thank you fellow Yelpers! I read the glowing reviews of the tour guide Dave & was looking forward to meeting him. Upon arrival, Dave was collecting payment (17€) and was answering questions. I told him that I read that he was retired American military & was living in Frankfurt. I asked him how he ended up in Frankfurt & he answered that he followed his love (now his wife). I love cute love stories. Our tour was led by Angeliki, a guide who is specialized in archaeology. She was very knowledgeable & sweet lady. Our tour included architecture details & history of many buildings, a bathroom break & lunch at an inside market that had sandwiches, pastries & a famous lady who makes beef & pork sausages & also makes her own mustard. I had a pork sausage sandwich with mustard. Simple & tasty. I walked around with another fellow traveler & we had post lunch pastries before meeting up with our group. Our tour ended at the burial site of Anne Frank & her family. It was somber but very emotional & moving. Thank you Frankfurt On Foot for an informative & educational tour, which was interesting & enjoyable despite the rain & snow.

Generally a really popular service and good overview of Frankfurt available in 10 languages;…read moreEnglish, French, Deutschland, Spanish, Italian, Russian. Several touring options to meet your interest and time. Pass good for 24 hours. Tip: Buy online for a discount or buy the Frankfurt Card to obtain discount as well. I chose the Skyline tour, which offered an extended route. The only concern I experienced with this option was exact Travel times were not listed and I traveled the original route twice, unexpectedly. Similar tours in other areas offer the same kind of service. The canopy on the 2nd floor is open in favorable weather. The top floor offers excellent unobstructed views as well

This was one of our favorite things to do during our free day in Frankfurt! Not too expensive (20€)…read more& very flexible, we were able to see the highlights of the city and bounce on & off the bus all day. There are 2 routes that go around the cit and 3 types of tickets. Make sure to pay for the 2nd tier ticket as there are more stops (both routes). The top tier ticket also includes the river boat ride. We didn't get that one as we were tight on time. We hopped on from Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbanhof, the main train station and hub of the city. Exit the main doors and the bus stop is located on the other side of the parking lot. The buses were clean and well maintained. We loved sitting upstairs of the open air 2-level buses. Each ticket includes earbuds for the audio session of the tour. Each seat also includes a headphone jack and you can choose your language. This is such a fun non stressful way to check out the city. Totally recommended!! Tip: There is a museum pass that includes the Palmgarten & History museums. Check at the box office of the museums.

I echo many of the other reviews when I say this is a MUST when visiting Rothenburg!…read moreI had also read the reviews beforehand and thought, "Okay, how good can this be?" And I have to say- it really is THAT good. Such a unique experience and a great way to see a different side of Rothenburg. The tour guide was a highlight; He kept our entire group of ~15 engaged for the duration and was very knowledgeable. The history of the town is very interesting, and it really is incredible how it has withstood the test of time. The tour is affordable at around 10€ and an hour long. English speaking and no reservation needed. You just meet in the main square at 8pm and wait for a cloaked man to show up (Lol). Bundle up because it can get chilly! Overall just an excellent experience. I learned a lot and had a great time.

This tour was a must while you are in Rothenberg! We heard great things but I can't stress enough…read morehow you should make this a priority. The tour started at 8pm in front of the steps to the town hall in the main market (Marktplatz). There was a large crowd when we got there (expected with the Christmas Markets though also surprised with the cold weather) at about 60-70 people. For the hour, the tour is a suggested €8 per person which you pay at the end. There are also non-English versions that can be found on the website for time & location. The tour did require walking but not a lot, we strolled from the Marktplatz down the main road and then outside the west gate and then back with multiple stops and stories along the way. You'll learn a lot of history of this medieval city and also have many laughs along the way. The night watchman was a great story teller and had a lot of tips along the way for your remaining time in Rothenberg. Don't miss this tour on your trip and if possible do earlier in your time here.
