The fried calamari was some of the best we have ever had, and the cocktails were delicious. My husband got the zuppa di pesce and oh my goodness, not only was it excellent, it literally could have fed 4 people! Between all of us, we had fish, pasta, and chicken entrees, and all were delicious and fresh. The ambiance is very nice with warm lighting and rustic finishes. Clams oreganta was mostly bread crumbs...the bread at the beginning was cold...my chicken parm was ok...not the best...the spaghetti was reheated...had dried sauce on it, with fresh sauce on top...my wife's eggplant parm was not very hot and the cheese was nowhere near melted... The newly renovated restaurant has a great vibe. The decor is a huge upgrade from the old "Gino's" restaurant that they took over. The most important part, the food, is incredible! I've tried several different entree's and apps on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Service is top notch. Paige was our waitress and she was on top of everything we needed. Update My birthday dinner for 4 at Sei in Mahopac. Owner and Maitre'd were very friendly and hospitable. Beautiful transition of the space. Warm and cozy. Came back "home" to Mahopac and went back to my old favorite restaurant Gino's which is now Trattoria Sei. This was a great experience starting from the appetizers to main courses and finishing with desserts. The Zuppa di Pesce is big and can be easily split by two people especially after you had calamari and mussels for appetizers. The bucatini matrigiana were also very good. This place has really made a name for itself in Mahopac and Carmel area. The food is delicious and the portions are appropriate. They have a lovely drink menu with signature cocktails. I like to get the elderflower martini. Minus 1 star since I got sick after having the mussels. But I've been here multiple times before and after and the service is good and food has always been tasty. They have a small bar so table service is probably what I would recommend. read more

There is nothing better than a first class, VIP experience when you go out to eat and Sei delivered! As a Queens native, now living up here for the last 8 years, I've been searching for a "REAL" Italian restaurant with GREAT FOOD and GREAT SERVICE for a long time, and Sei knocks it out of the park! I use to drive back to Queens, the other boroughs or even CT when I wanted a good meal, but now all I have to do is drive 10 minutes. Again, I can't say enough about the food; true traditional and modern Italian food... and the meatballs, WOW! That said, I do have to admit Sei has the best pizza I've had up here in 8 years and if anyone knows pizza it's me. They can even hang with the staples I grew up on in Queens and Brooklyn, which says a lot. If you haven't gone yet, you're missing out. Unbelievable! And I thought this town was devoid of excellent cuisine. Not the usual run-of-the-mill Italian food. This place is got class and I just ate the most delicious meal ever money pockets pasta with ham and peas in a sauce that you will not believe. I had to ask for a spoon just so I was sure not to miss any of it. The house salad which is I believe called the Sei salad was full of delightful wonderful things. I have to say that Jimmy a co-owner has got himself a gold mine here. Pat one of the waiters was so kind. I called from work and said please set me up a salad because I'm starving and I'm coming in hot! He had it waiting for me and I never met the man. My kind of place. I recommend this fabulous establishment to anyone and it was not overpriced by the way! I didn't have wine but I did have a huge salad an enormous plate of food at a reasonable price. Went here for takeout the first week they opened and tried dine-in as well. We really appreciated that they kept the zucchini pizza that Ginos was known for. The piccante pizza was very good too! Not impressed. We loved Gino's for over 20 years. The new owners have made the place look like a dark, brick dungeon. It's depressing. The food is overpriced and nothing special. The pasta dishes are bland. Their chicken panini didn't even look grilled; it looked like boiled chicken breast. Bland, bland, bland! The only thing that's worth a trip here is the Classic Gino's zucchini pizza, which tastes the same. Otherwise, we always go elsewhere. Started with the bursara appetizer that we shared. Very tasty and definitely enough for two people. For my entree I ordered the Zuppa di pesci and my wife had the chicken in lemon butter with capers. My dish was amazing!!! Huge portion with an ocean full of seafood. Couldn't finish it because it was too much food. In any NYC restaurant this is easily a $50-60 dish. My wife loved the chicken too. Desert was a Parfait that we got to go because we were too full to eat it there. Will we be back? Absolutely!!!! There are too many interesting items on the menu. The second thing I noticed was how packed the restaurant was which also made me feel uncomfortable. I was sick all night after eating here. The food could have been better. The tuna tower was lackluster. It was slimy and gross. My family ate here tonight for the first time. The food and service were quite good--well above average for the Mahopac area. Unfortunately there was a complete disregard for covid safety precations. The restaurant was well over the 50% capacity limit for indoor dining. There was a group of four at the bar near our table who were drinking and talking loudly and were not served any food. The host, waitstaff and bartenders kept there masks pulled down--most below their noses and a few just on their chins. The host shook hands with a few patrons who came in without masks. Our office recently called for a lunch takeout order that would be over $100. It was 11:15 when we called and was told to call back in 15 minutes that they were setting up. First mistake, they should've taken MY number to call me back. Next, we called back as instructed to order wraps that are on the menu. We were told the menu wasn't updated and they do not carry wraps. We then asked for them to be put on foccaccia bread. We were they told they had no foccaccia bread. I asked then what can they put a sandwich on and basically was told in a dish! Gets better .... then we asked for broccoli rabe in a dish .... they didn't have that either!!!!! Let's do the math here ... it's an ITALIAN restaurant, with no foccaccia or any kind of bread for that matter and not broccoli rabe? The girl that answered the phone wasn't even apologetic.
