We got three of the classic Roman dishes - cacio e pepe, carbonara and amatriciana. All executed to perfection. Tastes like something grandma would make. Very reasonably priced at 10-12 euro each. We sat at an outside table and the streets were full of activity and life. Well outside the tourist track and one of my favorite evenings in Rome.

Like all Italian restaurants, they offer the sparkling and still water here. Make sure to call ahead to reserve a table as if they're booked, they probably wont do walk ins. We got the pasta a pepe and the another pasta which was great. The pasta was al dente just the way i like it. For apps, we got the fried tripe and fried anchovies. Both are great if you like chewiness (tripe) and in general, fish! The squashed artichokes didnt feel smashed. They put some sort of garlic seasoning on it which my friends didnt like. I would pass on that. The panna cotta is great. It has a flan like consistency. It's a bit far from the local train stop, but great local spot!

If you are looking for great service, turn around, as that is not what this place is about. It is about the food, and the fact that you can sit and enjoy the company you are with and the homemade food for as long as you like. They do things the old fashioned way here. There is the Mom, who appeared to be the matriarch of the family and who prepared all the food. Then you have what appeared to be her sons acting as Waiters. They aren't the quickest or best in the service industry but they made me feel at home and actually brought out some house after dinner drinks on the house. The food though was fantastic. The cacio e pepe is a must. It was the best I had in Italy. I also have a veal dish wrapped in a pepper that was super good. If you are looking for a good homemade dinner, than this is the place. Just don't expect 5 start service as it is a small mom and pop restaurant.
