Love it! It was my second time going there, and this time round I tried pasta. It was very good, cook al-dente! Flavour was just right, nothing too overpowering. Lovely place next to the hotel. Large interior with rich, dark tones. A lot of indoor seating that was filled this Friday night. Yet, people seemed to get seated fairly quickly. I sat at the bar as it was just me and there were two open seats. Great view from that seat of the place. Even got to watch the man making pizzas in the bar area. TVs are not plentiful, but this is not a sports bar. It is a nice Italian restaurant with good food. Chicken Piccata was a good portion. Loved the taste and it was freshly cooked. I was excited to try this place as the menu looked great and it got good reviews on Google. When we showed up on a rainy Sunday evening, we were a little surprised that there was a 35 minute wait for a table especially as the restaurant had many empty clean tables. All good though, the three of us sat at the bar which is beautifully situated to watch the pizza chef make pizza and the pizza oven. After selecting our dishes and waiting, we were excited as everything sounded very good. My friend was getting a pesto pasta special, my husband the mushroom ravioli, and I the braised lamb. As we started digging in, we all agreed that although everything was good, it was just that ~good~. I think I enjoyed my dish of the braised lamb the best. The lamb was well cooked and tender, didn't fall off the bone but no complaints. The pappardelle noodles were nothing special and felt it could have used more sauce. My husband's ravioli was good but he was disappointed when he was still starving after finishing it and the garlic bread. My friend's pesto special said was good but was a bit bland and was left hungry. For such a pretty restaurant with expensive plates, we all were left a little disappointed and still hungry. However we were charged for it, but we never saw the bill prior to being given the machine. Probably should have looked at what we were being charged for prior to paying... the garlic cheese bread was dry. My friend loved the lasagna. Kirsti, our server, was such a ray of sunshine, and made the experience even better by treating us to desserts on the house, which was a really nice surprise The truffle spaghetti with meatballs was definitely made with fresh pasta, the eggplant cutlet, and fritto misto were all yum! Tratt Tuesday is a great reason to visit and since I had a gift card to use up, we had a feast from Trattoria including their crab and ravioli pasta and their truffled spaghetti and meatballs. The crab ravioli were filled with an adequate amount of seafood and sitting in a rich cream sauce while the spaghetti and meatballs came with three huge meatballs and a great portion of truffle cream spaghetti. We also got two of their pizzas which were my favourite of the night. The hawaiian pizza was a classic and the prosciutto had a good amount of meat ontop. Although the pizza is very thin, the crust was not too crispy but wasnt soggy either (a good texture). I loved the crust and their light hand with the toppings/sauce made it a great thin crust pizza! We added the beef carpaccio and calamari as well. Of the two, I wasnt a huge fan of the calamari as i found it overly greasy and not crispy (takeout could add to that). The beef carpaccio on the other hand was quite tasty and the topping of arugula, capers and cheese made it a perfect bite with some of their flatbread. Spaghetti and meatballs! Re-visiting a classic and this didn't disappoint. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked al dente and loved their spicy tomato basil sauce (with added chili flake of course). The herbed ricotta was a nice balance to the richness of the meatballs and sauce. Next is their linguine carbonara with a nice blend of pancetta, scallions, egg and Parmesan cheese. The restaurant is rustically charming. We were seated on the ground floor next to the bar with a lot of vibrant activity. The menu was prefixed and had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Typically, restaurants which are meat heavy, tend to not have many vegetarian options and if they do, it's more of an after thought which can make the patron leave unsatisfied. There were three different main options and they were all pretty delicious. I scheduled a business dinner here about a month ago. I used to frequent the downtown location when it was on Alberni, and also when it relocated to Burrard. If my most recent visit to the Burnaby location was any indication, it was a great idea to shut down the downtown location because our service was extremely slow and drawn out, food was pedestrian, and low value for pasta and entrees that should have delivered more. My colleagues and I shared the pasta platter - pastas were bland and sharing utensils, plates and other dining materials were delayed, meaning that our counterparts had to wait for us and the food had cooled down significantly. Parmesan cheese was not brought to the table until we asked, so the food was quite lukewarm by the time we got settled My co workers dinner, a mushroom risotto arancini was deep fried and overdone - it was dark coloured and the oil had penetrated the inside of the molten rice ball. Everything took a long time to come and we were seated in a corner and forgotten. I wished I had kinder things to say but both the waiter (who doubled as a bartender) and the managers forgot about us. Will not be visiting nor recommending this restaurant. read more

Trattoria provides a pretty average Italian dining experience for a not so average price. I'll start by saying the location is okay, but the fact that it's in Metrotown surrounded by so many other good restaurants makes it hard to justify coming here. The service is good, no fault there, and drinks are about what you can expect from a cocktail albeit a bit pricier. The food was an absolute disappointment. Italian cuisine is pretty much my absolute favourite, authentic or not haha. But I have to say Trattoria's delivery of this experience was not so great. The polenta fritti were ridiculously dry, and you'd think they'd be crispy because of that but nooo they are about as soft as mashed potatoes. So, basically potatoes that were dryer than a desert so much so that the sauce barely provided any saving from this. The ravioli is was so bland it was a shock honestly. You think that by having crab and lobster stuffing, they'd at least know how to season it so that it's not just a bland meatball but it really felt like all that seafood went to waste in this ravioli. The sauce was oily and runny, and provided absolutely no additional creaminess or richness that was so sorely desired. On top of all that, they price their food at what one could say is a top of the line price for pastas. At 25 dollars for a plate of ravioli, and 13 dollars for what are effectively dry fries, you'd think that the food would be on par with places that charge that much. Honestly, I got paid to eat here through my credit card provider, and I still regret it. Overall, just look across the street if you want some good food. read more

I am very disappointed with this. Completely inappropriate to allow employees to come into work sick especially when handling food. I also called (during open hours) before to make a reservation and let the phone ring until it couldn't anymore and left a message. Never got a response or a reservation.
