Washougal's Trap Door is conveniently located on Main Street not far from Highway 14's main exit for Washougal. The staff here are the real deal. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely excited about what they're pouring -- not in a rehearsed way, but in the "let me tell you exactly why this beer is interesting" way that you only get when people actually love where they work. Personally, I'm not a beer guy but my friends who are very selective about their beer choices all say Trap Door has an excellent and varied selection to meet anyone's expectation. They also do cocktails, and they take them seriously. The full bar with upscale craft cocktails feels like a thoughtful addition rather than an afterthought, which means you can bring friends who aren't beer people and everyone leaves happy. The service is excellent. It's obvious the staff enjoys their job and the customers by their enthusiasm, professionalism and friendliness. The kitchen is solid and offers an interesting variety of options that are unique, well prepared and most importantly - very tasty. The beer felt very watered down, almost like it was all ICE. There was one person there, not staff, but someone they pulled in for marketing... something Johnson? Didn't get his full name, but he was a real weirdo. And it was not a nice ambience in the slightest-- real unwelcoming to outsiders. Tried Trap Door for the first time a couple months ago. The drinks were great, bartender wasn't shy to pour a fair drink. Food was interesting. You order at the counter and they brought it to the table. Kinda "half" table service. Food was good bar food, we'd go again. Price was fair. $17 for a 5-inch Italian sub and $9 for a pint? Give me a break! The food was meh, the servers couldn't crack a smile if their lives depended on it, and the prices are flat-out insulting. I just spent 4+ years in Europe where inflation was the same (thanks Joe), yet restaurant prices didn't skyrocket like they have here. The only explanation: good old-fashioned American greed. That "Italian sub" barely stretched six inches and had a whisper of meat and cheese. At best, it was worth $10 ... maybe. Charging $17 is highway robbery with a pickle on the side. Washougal doesn't need another overpriced brewpub--there are already too many of those, along with sushi joints and Chinese takeout. This was our first visit and it will be our last. First things first, Trap Door has some great beer on tap. Varieties rotate but there are also reliable favorites available whether you're an IPA aficionado or a lager lover. For a bite they have a great pizza by-the-slice plus salad and pint deal. I also like the Greek pizza, and the chicken pesto sandwich. To me the best thing about Trap Door is its location in the community and the bar layout which is great for conversation. We've also made friends in the outdoor tables. They've done a great job at building a friendly "third place" in downtown Washougal. read more

This is a place my parents frequent so I was excited to try! We shared two pies, a margarita and a delicious pesto based one. I unfortunately never got the name of it, but I loved it. Great flavor and textures all around. We came in at a pretty slow time so food and drinks came out quick and plenty of tables were open. I hear it does get busy in the evenings, but lunchtime was perfect. I definitely would come back as it's one of the best food spots in Washougal. read more

I like the ambiance and the great ales and lagers with 'Trapdoor' being a very nice West Coast style IPA. Their kitchen is small and the menu is limited but the food is good nonetheless. And the beer coasters are pretty cool. read more

Went here on Sunday 6/25 around 2pm and they were not busy. Ordered the Plane Jane hotdog and the Grilled "Chicken Little" & Pesto Sandwich. The hotdog was a complete letdown, child size and definitely not worth the 8 dollars. However the Chicken Sandwich was a hit. We paid in advance leaving a very nice tip and sat outside with two great beverages. While we were waiting suddenly the window behind me opens with the hostess offering our food to us. I may be wrong but think it was unacceptable to not bring it to our table and ask if we needed anything else. Never where we asked if we needed water or another beverage. The server never came to our table to check on us. Poor service! read more

On Thursday 05/23/2024, I was charged for a 2nd beer that my friend told me she was gonna buy, which she did buy & the charge is on her card (I've got the statement). . I've been calling since Friday and have gotten the runaround & a snobby reaction to what my complaint is saying she had to charge my card cause there was too many steps to take to switch the cards, yet she still charged my friends card for the 2nd beer. I have called again today with the same runaround when asking for the manager. Instead of being rude, she could have apologized for double charging us & fixing the mistake. read more

We went in for a beer and decided to get something to eat, the server suggested we try a new pizza ( not on the menu yet) so we did he called it pulled pork barbecue, my partner doesn't really care for pizza but at first bite he actually likes it, I have to say it was delicious the crust was amazing crispy and the toppings were plentiful the barbecue sauce was delicious not overly sweet like some , we have eaten here many times and never had a bad experience, plenty of beers to choose from.
