Back in 1952, Spanish artist Faustino Aizkorbe had his first US art installation on the grounds of Purdue, just south west of the Purdue Theater. "Transformation" is a 40' tall column weighing 20 tons of bronze. The column has an opening on the west side and as you look higher on the column, sections are unfurling wider as you reach the top.
According to the artist, the piece represents "Purdue's continued evolution and changing nature, supported by the strength of its heritage."
