Great staff! I was looking for running shoes and I tested some pairs in this shop, while receiving good advice from the staff.

Whenever I need some gear for camping, climbing or other outdoor activities, I'll go to Lecomte…read more Actually, even when I don't need anything but in the Flagey area, I'll pop in just to browse the isles and dream about future activities... I like the fact it isn't part of a huge retail chain, but they still seem to be able to keep their prices a little below the rest. The staff consists of avid climbers and hikers, so they really know a thing or two about what they're selling, and so far I haven't caught them telling any nonsense about the products, contrary to some other stores... However, I would love for them to sell some more bicycle touring stuff -- but I suppose there are specialised shops for that -- and some brands I would expect -- Hilleberg tents comes to mind -- seem to be missing. Of the brands they do sell though, they're happy to order anything they're not currently stocking, even if it is not outdoorsy at all!

I needed to leave for long holidays very soon, and the deadline to repair the product (set by the manufacturer) was too long. I payed 40 euros for the service (rear road changing only, as I gave an extra inner tube that I bought myself). When I asked which pressure the road had, they didn't know because they don't have a barometer. I think it is quite basic service to know which pressure you give to a new inner tube. Apparently it was made "blind", which is the next step to have a new flat in some weeks. Unprofessional sevrice for 40 euros. No thanks. I'll do myself at home.

The shop is in-between a standard jogging/running shop and a hiking/wilderness store. They have a good range of stuff with some quality products and brands on sale, especially when it comes to shoes and clothes. I'm one for wet trails and they have everything you need for the rain and the cold. The shop can get busy, especially when looking for shoes, but overall things move along swiftly with a good number of experienced and qualified staffers on call, all well versed in the ins and outs of their products.` If you are planning for tougher hikes with full kit across difficult terrain, with no drinkable water, electricity or other amenities, then this place will not do the trick, nor is it suitable for full mountain gear. You also won't find tents and other camping gear. Overall I recommend this for the growing number of trail runners and light hikers.

I am not sure if such a store would survive in North America as they don't have a lot of selection when it comes to brands. They sell a proprietary brand ( can't remember the name) name under which they produce everything from life jackets to rugby socks. Looks like the quality is half decent. This place is huge, like Walmart size- an anomaly for Europe. Box stores are not a common sight in Europe. The place is probably your answer to your sporting needs.
