I ventured over to Track Shack today because I have been in dire need of a new pair of running shoes. I have heard good things about Track Shack, and have never had a reliable method of picking good running shoes. Luckily, the experts at the store know what they are talking about. The building is on Mills avenue and seemingly only offers street parking, but if you pull into the back they have a small covered parking area for patrons. I wouldn't think the appeal of Track Shack is it's selection. There is more to offer at a bigger and more well known chain sports store. It is the knowloedgeable and friendly staff that make it a must. Aside from shoes, the store also offers various apparel. When I went in, Nate helped me and he analyzed my walk and the shape of my feet. I now feel confident I have the right shoe with which to run. Track Shack also has running groups and is a source for various race info around the city. If you are the athletic type, quit wasting your time and money at one of the big guys and head over to Track Shack. read more

I have a family of runners, joggers, walkers, and general shoe-wearers, and we swear by Track Shack. The first time I came into the store was two years ago, when I first took up jogging. I was training for my first 5k and started to experience knee pain and was told by a friend that I had to go to Track Shack and get my shoes checked. Sure enough, I went in and was diagnosed with wonky feet and they recommended I buy stability running shoes. Problem solved, two years later and I haven't had the knee pain return. After I went in I took both of my kids who were running track and cross country in school. Same stability shoe recommendation for them. I never knew we all had funny feet, but we do. The staff has been incredibly helpful. They are very patient, and seem to have really good luck with us, always finding the perfect pair right away. The shoes are always right around $100... which hurts the deal-hunter in me, but I really feel like the service and expertise of the staff makes it worth it. I love that they sponsor so many running events. I have had to stop in many times to pick up race packets and that is usually pretty painless (I tend to go during my lunch hour). And I have to give them bonus points for supporting local running groups. They gave a much-needed donation to my son's cross country team for new uniforms. I can't say enough about this place... I've only been twice when my girlfriends little girl needed sneakers. The last time I remember going to a shoe store where someone sat with you, measured your foot, watched you walk and gave you advice about what shoe you should wear after hearing about your activity level etc. was when I was a kid and my parent's used to take me to Buster Brown. Each time we've been here, we've gotten a sales person who seemed to generally care about the kids feet and the her pronated walk (not really sure how that all works, but he told us she needed more support). Off to the back to magically bring back shoes that she could try on. Thanks Track Shack... not for taking care of me, but for showing such great interest in this kid's feet. Track Shack was helped me find shoes for my half marathon training. As an on and off runner, my shoes were old and worn, so they had me walk and measured my feet before bringing out new shoes to try on. With each new shoe, they had me to a run test to see how the shoe was performing with the way that I run. They gave me insight that I did not know to help me understand why some shoes worked and others would not be good for the long term. Unfortunately, I ended up picking some that were not the best fit for me, in the end, but they let me come in again and find the right shoe. The new pair I got is perfect so far and does not have the problem the last one did. It is super cushioned (which is what I needed) and great for me. There is never a question for me where I'm going to buy new running shoes in Orlando. Track Shack is the best running specialty store in Orlando hands down! I was there yesterday to get a new pair of shoes. Instead of assuming I would go back into the same shoes I have been running in, after my initial gait analysis I was offered several shoes to try. I ended up with an updated model of my current shoe, but there was no pressure for me to purchase those. The clerk wanted to be sure I was getting the most comfortable shoe for me. Others have commented on the price. I don't think the prices are out of line at all. Track Shack charges the MSRP for shoes and for a quality shoe, that is properly fit, that's what you should be paying. read more

You will not go wrong if you buy a pair of shoes here. I was in Orlando visiting my daughter and she took me to Track Shack to get the shoes my podiatrist had recommended. After I had returned to Orlando I realized the shoes were not the right fit and I was tripping and falling with them. I called one of the managers and he agreed to exchange them for me through the mail. In less than 2 weeks I had my new shoes which were a perfect fit. I love this place! Track Shack is where "newbies" can go to get fitted for running shoes, and where the elites and pros go for everything having to do with running. The employees definitely know their stuff. TS also hosts great races throughout the year, and their website is a valuable tool featuring even non-Track Shack running events. The owners Jon & Betsy are lovely, sweet, and if you live in the WP/Mills area you've probably seen them out on the streets running. It's nice to know that your running store owners are REAL runners. Whether you need a new pair of shoes, advice about blisters--or advice about anything related to running/walking--or just want a cold healthy drink (they have a cooler with drinks like Drink Chia and Mix1) this is your place. Oh, and they have training programs for everyone. They offer "WRAP" for walkers who want to start running, "5 & Dime" for runners who want to run a faster 5k & 10k, and "Marathonfest" for runners who want to run their 1st marathon or just run a faster marathon. I started training for the Disney 5k back in October. I'd been wearing my Nikes for over two years (ouch) and I needed to find a place that specifically measured all elements of running. I needed to find a shoe that didn't make running hurt. The people at Track Shack were very helpful and made me try on several kinds to find the perfect ones. The only recommendation I have is for them to get a few treadmills so customers can go and actually really run in the shoes before they purchase them. Amazingly knowledgeable and friendly sales staff. They helped my friend get outfitted for a race and pointed me in the right direction for energy gels. You can see that running is their passion and they do not hesitate to share it. They sponsor tons of races and even had a sneaker donation site where they repaired older but still usable sneakers for those who couldn't afford new sneakers but wanted to run. This is the ONLY place I go to buy my walking/running shoes. They have an incredibly well-trained and knowledgeable staff who care about fitting you correctly. They always have enough staff on-hand, too, so that you're not waiting -- even during their sale days (make sure you get on their email list so that you know about these.) I can't say enough about what a difference it makes to go to a locally owned shop like this, not to say there aren't caring people at the chains. Just may be far and fewer in between. First off... never, EVER understood why they haven't moved from this location. I couldn't help but feel my car would be towed wherever I parked. I recently decided to get back into running.. I spent too many years focusing on lifting and realized it just leads to tightness or injury without including cardio..as such, it was time to start running again. As I began running, noticed I had shin splints.. obviously this could be attributed to lack of support/cushion or just not working on strengthing calf muscles or ankles. So I turned to them... I felt the staff was far more educated and polite than any other clothing/shoe outlet I could have attempted. However, I cannot help but feel there wasn't as much attention to detail as everyone told me there would be. This is absolutely NOT a knock on the company itself..their staff may be the most polite staff I have met in a long time in any apparel application... but every one of my buddies who runs made it sound like they would solve all my running woes/pain. As they have for all of you, they asked me to walk and jog. There is no 30 minute examination. It takes 90 seconds... they tell you are flat footed or if you have a high arch. Then tell you your running form is adequate or not.... then they provide me with 110 dollar pair of shoes. The same three shoes the guy next to me tried on. The issue is not my form or the impact my knees are having the first mile.. it is the 2-3 mile when I begin to lose my form and the impact takes a toll on my legs that is the issue. I know I should stop once I lose my form, but I don't have that luxury with my job/career. Needless to say, everyone should give them a try their first attempt to get familiar with some of the higher end brand running shoes. You will drop 100 dollars per pair (which is fine with me), but if they remain in that location I will probably just take the recommendation they gave me this week... and purchase my shoes on line from this point forward. I was greeted by an employee who sensed my need for help, and he immediately suggested I take a seat while he took measurements and promptly asked my needs/expectations of running shoes before he brought out several pairs to try on. I have bought my running shoes from Track Shack for probably the past 10 years. They are so helpful finding you the right type of shoe based on your running and how you walk etc. Also, if you get your shoes home and run in them they will take them back. Tell me when Sports Authority will do that?! My only complaint about the store are the prices. The prices are high for shoes, gear etc. My biggest complaint is a running watch I bought there for $69 bucks. I recently found the same watch at Target for 39 bucks. Thats a huge mark up! Track Shack does a great job putting together a lot of the road races locally. The parking at the place is also poor. They are also not open on Sundays which kills me. Several times I have wated to go but realized it was Sunday. read more

Love the Track Shack! Since my little one has a hard to fit foot and I, of course, want to start her out in life on the right "foot", we took a jaunt to the Track Shack. The staff were very patient with her and allowed her to be her 5 year old self, so that included several test runs for each pair she tried on! She ended up with a very comfortable and stylish pair of sneaks that will last for the next 4 months. Price wise; not too bad at $31. They also carry the "bubble" shoe laces, which are life savers if you have small kids. These laces DO NOT come untied! No more double-knotted laces coming home from school! Had an unparalleled service experience at this store! Employee Ram spent over an hour with me, patiently rotating 9 different pairs of shoes and encouraging me to take my time. 3 times I thought I'd found the perfect fit...but after cycling back through several more times we got into the nitty gritty details and landed on a different pair that ended up being perfect. He first took the time to assess and explain my gait, and corrected misconceptions I'd had from previous shoe purchases. Even got me into a Wide fit that I didn't know existed. I've been coming to Track Shack for as long as I've been participating in road races. I remember getting my first fitting here back in 2005 and participation in my first 5k, also run by Track Shack, a few months later. Since then, I've never looked back, and continue running and purchasing my running shoes and other items from Track Shack. I especially look forward to their anniversary sales in August, where they have had 20% off all items. It makes my favorite $150 Brooks Glycerin not seem as expensive (yikes). Then I'll pick up a handful of Clif Shot blocks. If I'm out, I'll get the Clif electrolyte powder mix and some Hammer Endurolytes, helpful for when it's hot outside. The workers are always helpful and will go out of the way to help you find the perfect pair. I've had times when I tried up to 4 pairs of sneakers on, while the sales associate had a smile on their faces the entire time, while giving me advice and sharing running stories. read more

I recently came here to get fitted for new sneakers and had an amazing experience. It was a Sunday afternoon and they were well staffed for the rush they were having, but I still had to wait about 10 minutes. However, staff were frequently checking in, letting me know they would get to me asap. The woman who helped me measured my feet, talked to me about my running style, what I was looking for in a shoe and each time I tried on a new pair, would have me jog up and down their hallway to check the fitting. She was eager to bring me as many new pairs as it took to find the right one and she even found a pair that was on sale and met all my needs, saving me about $60. I love that this isn't just a shoe store, but you can tell it's the hub of the running community in Orlando. I would feel totally comfroatble to go back and get some advice, find out about the local races and check out all of their clothing and equipment. read more

I have to agree with Annette G here! Track Shack is WAY more than a shoe store. I've been dying to go here to get some running shoes and I finally made it. From word of mouth I knew they specialized in helping you find the shoe that was best for your foot. Steve was kind enough to help me find some shoes today. He first watched me walk so he could see how my feet were - step one in finding the perfect fit. We must've gone through 6 or 7 pairs of shoes before we actually went back to the very first one he picked out. Track Shack also sells a bunch of other things including hats, clothing, etc - definitely a one stop shop for your running needs. I'll mention as well (since I've run in a ton of their events) that they always put on a great event! They're extremely organized with their packets for the races and you get access to check your results online and compare your running to others including those in your age range. I can't comment on the store itself, but on their events they get 5 stars! I have now participated in two of their 5K races, and didn't understand how much must go into one until this past weekend. Over 2400 women participated in the race, and every one of them got a shirt, a number, a tracking device, and an experience. I am not a runner, but I sure try with this event! You can check your race results online, and it ranks you overall and in your age group as well. I may not be a runner, but I want to go again so I can see myself improve. They put one of their knowledgeable staff in touch, Chris Hughes, and I sent him photos of my current shoes. He called me to do a phone consultation and with his expert guidance we found a shoe for me. Chris arranged for them to be shipped straight to my home and no charge for delivery. As a beginner runner, I didn't have a clue about proper footwear and decided to visit Track Shack since it was recommended by a friend. The staff is very knowledgeable and interested in finding the best shoe for you. There is alot of individual attention and they are very thorough -you are even required to walk around for them so they can assess your needs. Track Shack also sponsors alot of running events around town, from 5Ks to marathons, so there is something for everyone. I was in on Friday, 10/19 and Stephanie helped me get fit for a new pair of walking shoes. I have Plantar fasciitis but still want to walk 4 miles a day. Stephanie helped me. She did a measurement, then watched me walk and performed a couple of other observations and brought me a men's pair of New Balance 9 wide. Today was first day I used them. They are heaven to my feet. I did not have any problem and my foot felt very supported but very comfortable.
