***listen to the other bad reviews, customer is not king and you will be accused of wanting to go and buy it online if you ask too many questions, or try on and don't buy**
Just had a truly scary experience here and want to warn others!! I have admired this store for many years and for the first time tried on a few of the beautiful Dirndls with full intention of purchasing one this month or next. I am a careful buyer so I usually try things on, go away and think about them and come back once I know what I want (or else I would be in the store for days!). I also hate online shopping and enjoy shopping in store and local.
I asked permission to take a photo of a few of the dresses I liked so I could show my choice to my husband/friends, and when I was told I wasn't allowed I completely understood once it was explained to me. However, a mix of miscommunication led the shop owner to BANNING me from the store for life, all because I said "oh it's good to know what size I am" and "can I take a photo? No? Ok!" He fully believed I would just take the info and find the dirndl cheaper online. I seriously am in disbelief I left the store feeling like a criminal. This store DOES NOT know how to communicate with customers and I look forward to doing my research and finding other stores in Hamburg where I can shop and support local.
If you do decide to go to this store:
1. Do not express it was "good to find out your size"
2. Do not under any circumstance take a photo, or even politely ask permission to do so, and later express your understanding for why it's forbidden
3. Do not try any on, because if you don't purchase it that day he will most likely freak out and think you are going to buy it online instead
4. Maybe just don't go inside and go somewhere else
5. Offered free beer as well - I thought it was a nice, polite gesture to accept but now really regret it!
This store has a serious attitude with disrespecting "young looking" women, out of fear we will only look and not buy. I was called a girl, was shown only discounted Dirndls, and was discouraged from looking at more expensive ones since they may be "too expensive", although I expressed I am not interested in shopping online and I am interested in a nice, quality Dirndl I can have for a long time. Cost was not an issue and that was not something I shared with the salesman, but I shouldn't have to. Nevertheless, I was treated with complete disrespect and didn't appreciate the name calling (being called a little girl because I was trying to figure out how/when I misspoke - maybe in English I said something wrong although he did speak English). The most humiliating and disgustingly unprofessional experience I've ever had shopping.
Should have walked out immediately when he was getting all red in his face, sweating and shaking he was so angry and extreme in his behaviour, all because I asked simple questions any customer should be able to when making a big purchase. I was embarrassed, bullied and left the store in complete confusion. Telling everyone I know in Hamburg to beware of this place! read more
