I felt like they understood my case. After that though, they were mostly pushing me to "settle" which I could have done without paying what I paid. They weren't bad. They helped me through the paperwork and such that was needed but again, I really needed someone on "my side" to help me be creative to push back and save me from the headaches her lawyer was (and still is) putting me through. Divorces are tough. Especially for the bread winners. The laws in California are tough. So I don't fault them, but I've also heard success stories from others which I didn't really benefit from in my case. Looking back, it seemed a bit on the expensive side as well for what was done. Communication throughout my case was poor, and I often had to repeatedly follow up just to understand what was happening, what the strategy was, and what the next steps were. My biggest concern was Jordan Duncan Smith's approach to settlement. I felt pressured to accept a settlement that was far lower than I believed was fair. Jordan told me that my case was not worth that much and referred to the incident as having happened only once. Hearing that from my own attorney was extremely upsetting and made me feel like the seriousness of what happened to me was being minimized. During mediation, Jordan gave me the impression that he had little experience handling a case like mine. I felt that his approach aligned more with the defense's position than with advocating for me. Rather than feeling supported by my own attorney, I felt as though I was pushing back against both Jordan and the mediator. That left me feeling isolated and without the strong representation I expected during such an important part of my case. I did not feel confident that the full value of my case was being advocated for, and I did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed even after Andy Morrow became involved. The case ultimately settled, but I am not satisfied with the settlement or with how the process was handled. I understand that no law firm can guarantee a particular outcome, but I expected much better communication, advocacy, and client service. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Downtown LA Law Group, Jordan Duncan Smith, or Andy Morrow to anyone.
