Tours are offered Monday thru Friday at 930am, 1130am and 130pm with a extra tour Thursdays only at 6pm. We choose a Thursday 930am tour. Each adult needs their photo id. Cameras, cell phones, purses, etc not ALLOWED on tour, but they provide Free lockable lockers for your use. We arrived at 830am, looked around the Visitors Center and Gift Shop, watched a 25 minute very informative movie on the World's Largest Toyota Plant. When tour began, Judy introduced herself and took us to watch a brief 10 min. Video about the tour. We were escorted to the tram carts, introduced to driver Keith and began our hour tour of this AMAZING plant full of technology and ROBOTS!!! When the tour was over, OMG I wanted 3 things...A Job there, A new Supersonic Red Toyota Camry and to take the tour again!!!! Yelp categorizes this place as a "car dealer", which it patently is not. It's a manufacturing facility, and it offers a free tour. Weekdays only. Reservations are necessary. And pretty much mind-blowing. Everyone should see someplace like this before they die. I love a good tour, but we're better in this country at touring historical places ("look at the butter churn, kids!"), places that are charming or nostalgic (the Louisville Slugger factory is both), and anyplace that will give us a bourbon tasting at the end. This has none of that, at least for those of us who don't get misty-eyed looking at an '89 Camry. But it's a modern marvel and it's wonderful that Toyota allows the public to see it. Even if you're not interested in manufacturing logistics, the scale is staggering. This square mile of warehouse churns out 2000 cars each day, a working city with a capitalist overlord. For the curious among us, they do touch upon the Toyota Production System, which is officially a Thing, describing in a rudimentary way just-in-time production, examples of efficiency measures, how they balance the use of people and robots so that neither breaks. There are some negatives, however, most of which are unavoidable. Because the tours go through the heart of a noisy, frenzied plant, you won't be able to ask questions or take any photos. It's also really too short a tour, given the complexity of the operation. I would have loved an opportunity for Q&A, at least at the end. And frankly, it's a little soul-crushing. The workers may do very well here, but the plant is a moonscape with no art and no signs of non-human life. Even the lobby is not made for humans. But ours is a car-worshiping society, all the more reason for everyone to enjoy a visit to the mothership at some point in their lives. read more

If you have never been on an automobile factory tour, this one is a great place to start. Before you go, its recommended to make reservations prior to arriving. I made a reservation about a week before. When you get there, the security card directs your to the parking lot and visitors entrance, where you check in and wait for your tour to begin. We went at the earliest one, at 9:30am. We had about 15 people on our tour. When they start the tour, they give you an audio headset that you put on to listen to the guide over the factory noise. Its quite loud, but you won't need earplugs or anything. Like the other reviewers said, they drive you around the facility in an electric trolley, like a limo golf cart without the roofs. The tour lasts about 40 min and we were able to see the process from start to finish for the Avalon and the Camry, both hybrid and non hybrid. The hybrids are built on the same lines as the non hybrids. Our guide wasn't particularly good at providing a thorough explanation, so I'm not sure if I didn't come from a stem background, if I would have really understood it all. The facility is massive and there's a ton going on and you're just zooming past everything. You never truly get a close up look, but its good in the sense that there is some shock value. Its worth it to check out another factory tour, or to do a more close up and personal tour here to get a better understanding. I believe they offer a more in depth tour, but steel toed shoes are required. At the end, they bring you back to the main conference room where they show a video that really should have been played at the beginning and then they shoo you off. We had no opportunities for questions because the guide left immediately after thanking us. No camera or cell phones are allowed, they must be checked in. Generally as well for these kind of tours, you need to have close toed shoes, but I saw one lady with sandals and no one said anything. read more

This plant builds the Camry, Avalon and Venza. It has a visitors center that is open during normal business hours. It also offer tram tours of the plant. Although you don't get to see the entire 80+ acres under roof, its still a very interesting tour and a must see for someone who has never seen an automotive assembly plant! If you are lucky you may be able to stop in the visitors center and get on a tour, but recommend calling ahead of time to guarantee a spot. read more

When I think of cars, how they are made is not the top thought on my list of things I want to know. At least, it never was -- until I recently took a tour of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant during my weekend at Georgetown, Ky. Cars have never been a huge thing in my life. There have always been my favorite brands, and Toyota was always one of those brands. But now, after taking this tour, their car brand is going to always be my number one choice from this point forward in my life. Y'all -- I was BLOWN AWAY by this tour of how a car is born (that's what they call it!). Being that I am not that interested in cars, I honestly thought that this tour was going to be one of the most boring things I was going to have to listen to. But it was far from that. From the moment you arrive on the property until you walk out the door after the tour, safety is the number #1 priority of the workers and team at Toyota. That spoke volumes to me. To know that MY safety and the safety of my family is what goes into the care of each car built, of each person that visits the facility just really earned a special place in my heart. START THE TOUR WITH A VIDEO Before you are ushered into the actual plant, you are brought into a room where they show you a video of the heart behind the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Georgetown, KY. Once the video is over, you are broken up into groups and given a headset complete with earphones to protect your hearing. In the headset, you will hear the guide as she talks about each section of the factory. It was super neat to be able to see the robot machines doing what they do, but to see how a car starts from the beginning. My mind is still blown. Seeing the people wave at us as we drove by each station simply warmed my heart. The Toyota tour runs on weekdays only and lasts about an hour. The tour is great for all audiences, from friends and families​ to class field trips, business outings and more. My absolute favorite part of the tour is when we stopped and watched the engine being placed inside the car. You know why this was my favorite part? Because our guide told us that each person on each line has relatively one minute to do their job and do it right. Seriously -- this tour is one you need to see. The cost is FREE. From beginning to end, this tour is top-notch. Start off by calling in advance to secure your spot on one of their daily tours. Reservations are strongly recommended. Arrive early to get checked in and see the visitors center. It's fun to see the difference between the first Camry produced in 1988 and a current 2018 version as they are sitting next to each other in the lobby. This is the 1st and largest vehicle manufacturing plant in America and you get to take the tour for free. The tour will start with you seeing a roll of steel and end with a completed car. Tour guides give you information as the tram transports you to each area of the plant. You will also see that they produce engines and full body panels here as well as 3 different models of cars including Lexus. It's amazing to see the robots welding the chassis, how clean this facility is and the sheer magnitude of the plant itself. You can do this tour a dozen times or more and still miss stuff as there is so much to see. No cameras or phones allowed on the tour. We were traveling to an event in KY and decided to take in the Toyota tour in Georgetown. We own Toyotas and a Lexus and found the tour very interesting. They only take a small amount of people daily, so you need to reserve your spot weeks or days ahead. We really enjoyed the tour, but were disappointed not to see anything on the Lexus assembly line. 2 thumbs up and recommended!!! read more

Came here on business but I heard about (and saw) several tours during my visit. There's a trolley that takes groups around for a quick peek at the processes that go on at the plant. I can only assume that the tour guides provide a lot of facts about the history of Toyota, but there's no time or allowance for an in depth look at the different parts of the assembly lines. I actually got to stop and see everything I came there to see and watch right from the conveyors. Did you know that it takes approximately three days to build a car, from weld work to the shipping door? Definitely something fun and free to do if you're in the area! This is an excellent tour!! All of the people you meet are very gracious and extremely helpful. You ride a tram and see Toyota Camry's going through the highly automated manufacturing process from sheet metal to a completed car. This plant is the largest Toyota plant in the world. The Toyota tour of the facility is really cool. Leave your purse in the car because security is tight. But, once in, you board the tram and it's really interesting - and I'm not really a car person. You can see how the cars are put together and some of the robotics involved. This is a must see if you're looking for an activity in Georgetown. read more

First of all, the tour of the Toyota plant is free. You just have to make reservations in advance. When you enter, a guard will direct you to parking. The visitor center is a short walk from the parking lot. Signage were clear and it was easy to find. There are a few exhibits in the visitor center. The main highlight was the first Toyota Camry to be made in this US plant. There were some interactive exhibits but they were not working. Just before your tour starts, the receptionist will collect all cell phones. No cellphones, bags etc are allowed on the tour. The guides informed us that the plant was switching from the 2017 to 2018 models so part of the factory was closed. They played a rather long video about the process and then we were split into 3 groups and brought on to trams. On the tram we were given a headset and safety glasses. As the tram drove us around the plant, our guide explained what was going on etc. It was very informative and even though we did not get the full tour, I still felt like we saw a lot of the process. I especially enjoyed watching and learning about the various robots being used. Overall, this was a highly interesting tour and I definitely recommend checking it out. read more
