Ozone Falls State Natural Area - Ozone Falls

    Ozone Falls State Natural Area

Ozone Falls is the 3rd tallest waterfall in Tennessee conveniently located off Interstate - 40, 15…read moremiles southeast from a town called Crossville, TN. This is a very popular landmark waterfall, so arrive early to beat the crowds. Hours are sunrise to sunset. The parking lot is tiny, maybe accommodating 6 - 7 cars so if it's full, I believe there is an overflow lot sitting across the street. From the trailhead sign, make sure to hang towards the right and it's a quick 1/3rd of a mile descent down to Ozone Falls. And within minutes, you're confronting a 110-foot freefalling waterfall dropping straight over a sandstone cliff into a deep pool. For a late August visit, I was anticipating a fuller waterfall, but it's understandable for having drier conditions this time of year. And, I was still in awe of the vertical plunge. It's acceptable to go swimming so bring a bathing suit and water shoes. Another visitor friendly detail to the falls is getting the chance to stand underneath them. It puts into perspective how inspiring this natural wonder can be. Lastly, a fun little fact...Ozone Falls had such an impact on Disney Studios that they filmed a scene from here in the 1994 film, The Jungle Book. Overall, taking a trip to Ozone Falls can reward visitors looking to connect in nature without having to work hard. It's a setting for creating beautiful memories.

Highly recommend checking out Ozone Falls if in the area. If the internet is correct a few scenes of the 1994 Jungle Book movie were filmed here and a couple of other local TN falls. At this location you can easily look from the top, take a rocky trail down to the base of the falls, walk behind the falls and also get out in front or side to see this beautiful site from nearly every angle and aspect. Don't pass this one up!
