Dirty as you enter lobby and desk( globes over desk are filthy) Rooms are unkept and not with amenities: Kleenex, ice bucket, laundry bags. Dirty silver ware in drawers. Dirty sink! Garbage left in room, filthy counters and surfaces, peeling paint, mold in bathroom. Dirty sheets in bed were the topper with hall fixtures showing dirt and coming off ceiling. I so wish I hadn't seen maids/ storage area and its disarray of junk and dirt! Bring platinum elite, I thought I had selected wisely at the end of our vacation. Do not stay here! Complimentary breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and other breakfast items. Pet friendly for a fee and potty area located on the back of the property. Nice place. Came for work training and was there for 3 weeks. The rooms were nice and roomy and pretty clean (I have stayed in much worse). Love that it had a kitchen so we could cook rather than living off take-out and microwave meals. Staff was really friendly and helpful. It can get a bit noisy. You can definitely hear people walking above you and it is unusually loud but not really a big deal for me. Would stay here again if I was in the area. read more

There was a man pacing a majority of the day outside our room on the ground level. We had to keep our curtains closed. When we asked the front desk they said he was a guest but we saw him sleeping in his car so unless he was renting a parking space I don't know. Also you pay for the room and have to sit in the dark because you can't leave the blinds open. The front desk offered no solution and did not ask the person to pace elsewhere. We had a child with us who was scared every time the man walked by her bedroom window. The water in the shower was not hot and barely lukewarm. The front desk people were nice but really not helpful. If you stay here get a room on the second floor. read more

Very good customer service .. the front desk makes everyone feel welcome, great breakfast in the morning. We had a cute little cozy two bedroom that had a full kitchen. Dollar store and Waffle House in close walking distance .. nice little pool that my kids enjoyed after getting some pool toys from the Dollar Tree. I deducted one star for the dogs .. it is a dog friendly hotel and even tho I had minimum contact with the dogs .. I did see a few dogs coming in and out of the hotel and it was slightly annoying (sorry dog lovers ) but overall we enjoyed our stay : ) read more

Clean and modern looking. Room quite nice and separate from sitting and eating area. Desk with good light to work. Appliances are working and decent supply of plates, silverware, pots and pans. Large grocery store 2 minutes away. Wifi not working at time of registration. Hotel did not know problem until I explained the issue to them. They were quick to contacte their provider (Comcast) and 3 hours later still not working. Room has Ethernet cable wiring but it's not functional either. Difficult to do work without internet. Seems like a small thing, like no dish towels, but a royal pain. Not happy with this but hoping they resolve ASAP. Update!! Front desk stayed on top of the internet issue and successfully had it resolved. Followed up with a call to our room that the problem fixed and for me to check my connection. Hard wire and wifi both working so I'm a happy camper. Very pleased - great staff!! Come check this hotel out!! read more

Affordable, quality, pet-friendly hotel on the edge of the mountains. Using the Marriott app, I was able to virtually check-in to the hotel and (with Bluetooth enabled) used my phone as the key to my room. The highlight of my experience here was the staff. At such a late, quiet hour, the man behind the front desk was immediately on his feet when I walked in the lobby and greeted me warmly, even though I didn't need to stop by the front desk. Moreover, he was incredibly kind when my husband came in shortly after with our dog. I didn't realize that there was an extra room charge for pets (new pet owner here!) He could have easily turned cold, assuming we were trying to get away without being charged. However, he very understanding, appeared to give us the benefit of the doubt, and gently described the policies to us, all while maintaining an affable attitude. If you are traveling i80 - Route 66, TownePlace Winchester is a must stay. This brand new TownePlace Suites is a welcome addition to the repertoire of hotels in the vicinity of Winchester, a stone's throw away from the intersection of I-66 and I-81 and within easy commute of all the private sector and government facilities in the area. We got there and it still smells new. As a new hotel, it has the new Marriott designed electrical bank in each room that contains outlets, ethernet and wireless WiFi, and pull-out tables to suit any guest size. The beds are magnificent. The hotel is within a hundred feet of a brand new Starbucks and strip mall with modern conveniences. As well, it has a well stocked gym with machines and dumbbells. And thorough sound proofing. Enjoyable and well appointed. And friendly service to boot. read more

This chain lodging seemed to be brand new, but staff advised me it was almost three years old...which tells me that they've done a great job of keeping it clean and well maintained. Price was more than reasonable, rooms were large with plenty of storage and mini kitchenettes. My bathroom could have used a bit more cleaning (dust on the exhaust vent, small bit of mold on interior of shower curtain) but nothing out of the ordinary. Breakfast was the standard Continental fare but well stocked. All staff encountered were very friendly. I would stay here again when visiting Winchester. My family and I stayed here for one night when I was 15. +staff was nice, like all Marriotts +price looked good and the property looked good +room had plenty of space and looked good +cleanliness was not too bad-beds were okay +elevator was fast -skipped breakfast due to remodeling; we ate at Cracker Barrell instead despite not being free -woke up to stinkbugs, but they did not warrant a maintenance call -no soundproofing-could hear people in the hall -hallways felt cramped and oddly designed -lobby felt like an office for an apartment or condo -the two-bedroom suite had no second bathroom unlike Residence Inn -room appliances felt cheap I would only return in an emergency. One or two nights, it is alright. Three or more, Residence Inn is better. Marriott, you can do better! read more

About to check out in a few mins and thought I will add a review... What I liked about my stay: Loved the room itself. It was clean, had a refrigerator ( not small ), dishwasher and 2 burner cook top. The bed was a bit soft for my taste. I like a firm bed. But I still slept well. Bathroom was very clean. A few lights in the room were not working buy there were plenty more to accommodate. Tons of outlets to plug in cell phones, laptops and battery chargers. The Internet worked well. No downtime on that. A nice mint on my bed to greet me. The prices were reasonable. The people were nice and smiled a lot. The breakfast: Fair. Nothing to write home about. Some kind of egg rounds and sausage. No bacon either day I was here. Oatmeal with brown sugar in a bowl on the side that was rock hard. You needed an ice pick to remove it. What I didn't like about my stay: Above my room was checked in either 'The Hulk' or 'The 1,000 LB Heel Walker'. Upon entering the room in the evening, I immediately noticed the sound of someone pacing back and forth across the floor above me and walking very heavily. This went on for an hour. It was as if they were stomping on their heels with bare feet on the floor. I called the front desk and asked to switch rooms. I was told she would call he guest and ask them to stop pacing the floor or do it more quietly. The noise did subside to some degree for the rest of the night. Although the second night it happened again for about two hours. As I am about to leave now and as I type this, the pacing has been going on for another two hours. back and forth... STOMP STOMP STOMP. I would have preferred my room been changed as I had initially asked for. It is incomprehensible to me, what that person is doing above me. It was very windy the nights I stayed and the wind howled around the hotel like a moaning ghost, very loudly all night. I guess the hotel can only do so much about mother nature. read more

Perfect hotel for overnight and longer stays. We had the basic suite, king bed, full kitchen with stove, apt size refrigerator/ freezer, utensils, plates, a work station, sofa, and more. You can even I use the grill outside to cook your own food. Lots of storage! The free breakfast was fine. The room was very quiet as well. But, what impressed me most was the happy, friendly staff. They enjoy their jobs and working together at this TownePlace Suites facility. A happy staff means they do their best. My room was very clean as was the public areas. They are always available to assist and even ask if you need something when they see you! Alana from housekeeping was the person who first asked me if there was anything I needed. She said the staff including Managers were all like family. I was also impressed by the respect the guests showed toward social distancing. The place has been open about 3 years now, could use some freshening up, but it is still top notch in terms of service. There is a supermarket, gas station and other stores and eateries right next door. Just off Rte 81, so you can not beat the location. I am a repeat customer. If you are doing an event at nearby Summit Point Raceway, ask for the Summit Point rate, which is a few dollars less than the AAA rate. read more

Super new, and quite nice. Some friends got married at a nearby winery, and used this as the wedding hotel for what was definitely a destination wedding. They got a fantastic room rate - $70/night for a studio (although looking at the website, it looks like they go for around $80 normally, but still!). This included king bed, flat screen tv, kitchen with fridge, combination microwave/confection oven, and burners, sofa (that I think was a pullout), and free breakfast. The hotel is nice and new looking, with modern decor and comfortable beds. The toilet paper was a little rough, but not the worst hotel TP I've experienced (hey, its important!). The location was good as well - right where I-81 meets Route 7, so convenient from all directions. The shopping center nearby includes a Sonic (score!) and a tire shop, where, if I had realized, I would have dropped off my car upon arrival and gotten the tire change I need. The staff was extremely friendly, and, based on their aggreeing to allow cornhole in the lobby after the reception, willing to accomodate! We will definitely consider staying here again when we go back out to wine country. read more

We stayed here for a night while visiting Winchester and enjoyed the hotel. It's part of Marriott which is why we chose it. This hotel is located off the highway, so it's easy to get to. They have suites which are nice, but not that spacious. The room was clean and the front desk people were friendly. We had everything we needed. They offer free breakfast, which we passed on because it was super crowded and not really high quality, but that's what we expected. If I was back in Winchester, I'd stay here again. read more

After having to check out from a disgusting Extended Stay America in Chantilly, VA due to their room smelling like cigarette smoke, I was able to drive here and get a room at midnight. The gentlemen at the front desk helped me out. I generally stay at Marriott hotels as much as possible and now I know why. Over all this hotel was clean and comfortable. I had a decent breakfast before setting out for the day. The only issue I had was that the mattress in my room had not been rotated, so it had a person size sag on one side. I just moved to the other side of the bed and slept like a baby. I drove an hour out of my way to stay here and had a good time. This is a good place for travelers to stay. read more

- smoking is supposed to be 100 feet away from any entrance. the side entrance the ashcan is less than 10 ft away. the stairway reeks of smoke that my eyes water and my nose itches. -tried to use the gym. the maid left 2 girls under the age of 14yo to play in there. they were hopping from a running treadmill to a running elliptical w/o touching the ground and playing with the weights and bench. So I cut my workout short.. hopefully they don't hurt themselves - the side entrance door is rarely closed all the way. anyone can walk in - there's been glass in the front parking lot on 2 occasions and took more than 3 days to be cleaned up - it's 67 degrees in my room is 25 outside yet when I turn the heat to 70 my ac/heat unit blows cold air -there is almost always garbage in the hallway -breakfast is supposed to available at 0600 M-F. I've been there a couple times at 0630 and it's still not ready. And I get dirty looks from workers that I'm looking for breakfast -the washer and dryers eat quarters and they wont reimburse you..even though they give you the original set of quarters to being with. -the dishwashers in the room don't really clean the dishes. numerous times I had to rinse them by hand... and these weren't items with anything caked on to begin with.. -I see some rooms have an oven.... mine did not. Originally I was assigned to be here for 6 months... For 6 months and you actually wanted me to stay maybe give me a bedroom unit not a suite with an oven.. read more

Great value, super friendly staff, free breakfast, still smells & looks brand new, conveniently located in a shopping center within walking distance (grocery store, restaurants, pet store, gas station, Starbucks, bank), close to downtown. And to say they are pet friendly is an understatement - they actually love having them here! Have seen all types of dogs, lots of area to take them outside, no charge for them to stay if there is no damage, and the hotel is so clean you'd never know that they host pets all the time. Our family of 5 searched high and low for a hotel with 2 bedroom suites and an outdoor pool (our top requirements). We got a great price on these rooms and, with favorable hotel.com reviews, booked here. The hotel looks like a 3.5 to 4 star hotel: clean lobby, large rooms, kitchenettes and super comfortable beds. A plus is that is located right off the highway, a bonus as we were doing day trips throughout our visit. Over the course of our multi-night stay, we were discouraged by a slow bathtub drain, finicky air conditioning units, and a damp mildew smell in different parts of our room and throughout the building. Our toilet clogged at one point and we were told it would be repaired within 2 hours. No attempt was made to either inform us of the lobby restrooms or offer the use of another room for that time (it was early morning). Once repaired, the toilet was not cleaned, leaving a rather unpleasant sight. Several times, we went to the front desk only to find it unmanned for long periods of time. It was not easy to get the assistance we were seeking. The pool and fitness center were both on the small side, but adequate. The hotel offers a gas grill and patio for customer use. The free breakfast needs improvement. Every morning they offered pancakes, omelettes, and egg sandwiches- which were frozen and required microwaving on styrofoam plates. One microwave was available, and every day there was a wait, regardless of the time. Yogurt, oatmeal packets, bagels, belgian waffle (you make), cereal and prepackaged muffins were also there. You would be better off going across the lot to the grocery store and picking up items there. One plus was the fresh fruit for the taking; we each grabbed an apple each morning for a snack later on. The hotel is at the back of a strip mall with several restaurants. Ledo's Pizza was a good meal. Should our travels take us to the area again, we will probably opt to look for a room closer to the downtown Winchester area. This hotel is fine for an overnight, but really needs closer attention to its management of maintenance and ameneties to attract and keep the extended stay crowd. It has the possibility of being much better than it is currently. read more

Just a great hotel. Everything was spotless and the bed was fantastic. If we could have, we would have taken it home with us. Best night sleep of the trip and all the other hotels cost 2 or 3 times as much. It is now part of our travel plans as we go back and forth to Nashville. read more

Internet connection was very intermittent, which could be a problem. Good shower. Bedding had some old (washed) bloodstains, but was otherwise ok. I flew in from Mexico City, unbeknownst to me that a storm hit across a swath from Indiana to New Jersey and south to Virginia killing at least 13 people and left 3 million power customers to negotiate sweltering temperatures without air conditioning, (according to the Washington Post Sunday July 1 2012) most set-out to find hotels in the surrounding area. Due to my impromptu trip l didn't have a hotel reservation. And according to priceline.com, hotel.com, travelocity.com....(every single travel site) didn't have a single room available within 200 miles due to the overwhelming need of air-conditioned lodging. I was left to sleep in my rental car. The next morning I explained to the very sweet, what i presume hotel manager, my dilemma and she rushed to have a clean room set for me. Because East Coast citizens were able to get power back that morning I was able to get a room and continue my trip. This hotel's staff was so gracious and sympathetic to my circumstance I felt the need to write a 5-star review. Oh.. and I love Marriott hotels, always perfect for my travels and this one was no exception. read more

I cannot recommend TPS enough! I booked a large block of rooms with them for our wedding and the management has been wonderful to work with! A dream! The hotel itself is only a few years old and in beautiful shape! The suites are great with great amenities (dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, stove top) Everything is up to date and very clean! Plus a free breakfast. What more can you ask for?! Oh, a great price? They have that, too! Lots of stores nearby? Check. Need some food for that kitchen? Just walk across the parking lot to the grocery store! Don't want to cook? If I could give this place negative stars I would. First off, they don't have specific rooms that are pet friendly. So your room might have had cats and dogs in it before. For someone highly allergic like me this is immediately the worst thing. Second - I went through THREE rooms and they were all awful. Out of six remotes I saw, three of them had tape holding in the batteries. The SPRINGS in my bed were broken. Straight up broken. You could hear them from space and when you got in the bed your knee went straight to the box spring. The burners in the kitchen sit straight up. In every room. They won't go down. The sheets feel cheap. The blankets are Nappy. The furniture in the living room is hard and uncomfortable. Out of three rooms, not ONE had working AC in every room (these were two bedroom suites). You could set it at 65 and MAYBE get to 72. Too hot to sleep for sure!! I was hot. On a hard ass uncomfortable bed. Finally slept on the brick sofa because it was cool. Do not stay here. Do not let your DOG stay here. For gods sake. I have stayed in over 200 Marriott properties and I have stayed in one star hotels better than this dump. read more
