There is a wealth of information available and several brochures that will inform you of attractions in the immediate area and beyond. Not only can you get information here, you can also pick up a souvenir tee and a snack, (chips, cookies, nuts), for a nominal price. The employee working during our visit was the perfect host as he gave us great information about the building, renovations and current status. He also gave us advice about local breakfast options. He was very helpful and after leaving the bureau, we were off to explore some of the historical sites described in the brochures. I highly suggest that you stop here first if you are not familiar with the area. You will be able to better plan your visit so that you don't miss anything. This will ensure that you have a great experience while visiting Newnan!

The man working there was very helpful, offering brochures, maps, newspapers & other literature to help me get acquainted with the area. And he answered one question I've had burning in me for some time: Why is Newnan called "The City of Homes?" He answered it to my satisfaction. Though I am not a resident of Hapeville, I am always in the area so I had to show up and support The park itself is absolutely beautiful. The city has made great use of the space as well as the landscaping is beautiful. The grass is green, the flowers around the fence are colorful and the park presents as a great recreational space as a whole. The National Night Out event was an abundance of family fun. As it kicked off at 4:00pm, it wasn't too hot and there was a nice breeze flowing through. There was a train ride for the kids, a dunking station, and ample games and vendors throughout the park. For the adults, the vendor options were ideal for those looking for employment, as well as those who love to support local and small businesses. Yes! There was something for everyone. As I arrived hungry, (don't judge me), I was excited to see the assortment of food trucks that were in the parking lot. This was truly the perfect makings for a great family day in the park. As a whole, I will definitely be returning to Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park as the ambiance is perfect for a me day with lunch and a good book or even to do a few laps around the track as 6 Laps = 1 Mile according to the sign. Completed in 2000, the courthouse is a modern civic complex with a broad glass-fronted facade that pulls in natural light and gives the entrance a transparent, open appearance. The tall classical-inspired columns lining the front walkway add a sense of formality and scale, almost like a contemporary reinterpretation of a traditional courthouse portico. Walking the property is simple thanks to the enormous parking lot and even though it's near busy US-19, the grounds feel surprisingly peaceful when court is not in session. Clayton County itself was formed in 1858 and named for Augustin S. Clayton, a Georgia judge, legislator and congressman. Jonesboro has always been the county seat, from the county's founding through today, even as the courthouse moved from the historic square to the modern justice center. The building's namesake, Harold R. Banke, served as a longtime Superior Court judge whose tenure and influence on the county's judicial system led to the honor of naming the courthouse complex after him. You just know you're always going to be missing something (and I was, despite my best efforts!), plus you expect to wait forever. The wait was less than 5 mins despite there being several people there! They were getting people through so efficiently while also being warm and friendly and polite, particularly with the older customers which was heartening to see and overhear. The lady helping me allowed me to make a call and have the missing paperwork emailed over, saving me another trip. I would have never expected that level of accommodation in a government office and the kindness genuinely saved me so much stress. These women (and the officer running security, he was lovely as well!) are literally rewriting the reputation of "the dmv" one resident at a time and they deserve all their flowers!!! And probably a raise!!!
