My kid is repeating stuff at CFA in the 6th grade that he did in 5th at Porters Neck Elementary. When my kid was at another private school, he was academically, a year ahead of the public school. My kid is not challenged at CFA. I feel he is falling behind academically. There is some bullying going on and there are some disruptive students present which distracts from the other kid's learning opportunities as well. For example, a teacher's kid who is a student there had a tantrum and broke five cell phones belonging to other students. Another kid was punched in the face twice. My kid mentioned they have seven 3D / media printers but only one works. Obviously I am putting him in a different school next year. Although the teachers and staff are friendly, overall I am disappointed. For me personally I see no benefit to sending my kid here except it may be somewhat safer than public schools. While safety is always number one, school is for learning. Nothing personal, just my pragmatic opinion which I hope will be helpful / appreciated. Another consideration is that Wilmington has limited educational opportunities even if you can pay for them.

Parents with shared custody should be cautious with ALA Coastal. In my experience, the school…read moreaccepted and maintained enrollment/continuation paperwork submitted by one parent without first verifying whether that parent had authority to make the school-placement decision unilaterally. Once the record existed, the school's position appeared to be that formal transfer documentation or a court order would be required to change the roster status. My concern is the process: registration, parent-access, and records-handling did not adequately protect both legal custodians before creating a major practical consequence. If your child has two involved parents in separate homes, ask very specific questions in writing before enrollment about consent requirements, custody documents, parent portal access, and how disputed or inaccurate records are corrected. My broader experience with communication, organization, logistics, and registrar oversight has also been poor. Based on publicly available state performance data, I also have serious concerns about the school's academic performance. Families should do careful due diligence before relying on this school, especially where custody, transportation, or parent-access issues may exist.

We've also participated in and loved in the summer day camp and special sports camps put on throughout the year. We love our WCA family so much!

I was told by Gabriella to contact her when I was done completing the modules so she could give me the review sheet. Note: once I finished the modules, there was no prompt or anything for the final exam. In other words, I was under the impression that I had to schedule exam through her or just separate from the module(s). I contacted Gabriella to take the test, but I wasn't allowed because the course had expired. I begged her to please allow me to take the test-she refused and stated I would have to take the course all over again and pay as well. I called the NCREC AND Dearborne/Kaplan and they all informed that even though the rules state you have six months to complete the course, in the end, it's up to the school. I realize I had six months to complete it and I can see if I was requesting this with incomplete modules but I finished ALL of the modules and ONLY needed to take the test. I asked Gabriella if it was possible to receive some type of credit, etc to take the class over again or to just take the test. She never even considered that as an option because she stopped responding to my calls and texts. It actually appears that she blocked me. Why would you block a student who supported your business (and I was going to take my 3rd and last class with them as well) and is making a reasonable request? It's unprofessional and rude. Oh, and don't expect any help from the NCREC...it appears they are all on the same side. *Update: hours after this review was posted, Gabriella's husband called me...he yelled & threatened me, claiming I was harassing Gabriella. He proceeded to call me a bitch (more than once) & said he would come find me. Disgusting! Who's harassing who?
