The library is open Tuesday - Saturday 9am-6pm closing for an hour for lunch 1pm. There is a small selection of books and a childrens department. Good IT suit and lessons/Classes can be booked via the library. The staff are very helpful and can obtained books from various sources. Bright light building used regularly by the local community.

Sadly, inside, everything looks pretty tired and if you're visiting in hope of using a computer, you probably won't have much luck. The computers run all the essential Microsoft Office programs, including Publisher, Powerpoint and Excel, but there are only 8 available for use, so unless you pick your times wisely, you'll probably end up disappointed. Kingstanding Library is great for families with small children, but adults are probably better off visiting Perry Common library a few miles down the road.

As a teenager I constantly had a book on the go so i regularly visited here to keep up with my demand. Great for families as they often hold events aimed at children. I've always found the staff here to be extremely helpful and friendly. Other facilities they have include computers for members of the public to use but be warned these get full up very quickly. Unfortunately I don't tend to visit so often these days as I tend to feed my habit for devouring novels through trawling charity shops so when I do visit its more for browsing through their reference books if I've a project I need to research.

With very modern standings, this library looks like a bookstore and the well organised titles just make life easy for students and people who frequent the locale. The modern space is a result of a recently refurbishment in the place. They have a full wheel chair access, free internet for the users and some really nice activities for the children such as under 5 years story times. There is a great selection of books and they do coffee mornings and play groups for kids. There is plenty of computers which always seem to be taken by teenagers watching you tube! The childrens room is lovely there are a selection of toys and soft seating areas, a very large range of toys and kiddies computers with large mouses and keyboards.

Only a handful of computers are available inside for public use and the shelves, tables and chairs all look as if they've seen better days. The staff are friendly enough and always willing to help when prompted, but queues build up very quickly and the library can feel remarkably claustrophobic once it gets busy. Parking is very limited on the street outside an on the inside, there's a strange smell which renders the whole atmosphere oddly unpleasant. All in all, this friendly local library is handy to have in your local vicinty, but if you're after computer hire or a rare or unusual book, you'd be better off to taking a trip to Kingstanding or Perry Common.

It is a massive Library to say the least but there is definitely something for everyone at Sandwell Central Library. I have only been here on a small number of occasions and there were times where I did get lost in the Library. However I have enjoyed being here and it is a place where you certainly can get peace and quiet. The Learning Centre at the Library offers free public access to the internet via a large number of computers, study guides and careers information. So if you do need advice about getting on the job ladder, there will be staff at the Library who will be happy to help you out. The latest bestsellers, blockbusters and classic films on DVD, a variety of newspapers and magazines, local and family history books as well as books on CD are some of the items you will find. Sandwell Central Library is worth a visit and there are books for all ages and tastes.

A crashed computer sent me over to this public library for the first time since my school days…read more Without access to the internet, and feeling a bit lost, the staff here were brilliant in explaining how the system works. You'll need to be a registered member of Birmingham Libraries first, but once you are, the staff can set you up with access details and then it's as easy as 1,2,3. Be warned - there are time limits to your browsing, but if you just want to check your emails or do a little bit of research then this is perfect. Situated by a huge car park, the convenience is second to none. It's also perfectly accessible from Four Oaks train station. The library also houses an impressive selection of books, audio-books and DVDs to hire. There are also plenty of chairs dotted round in case you just can't wait to start reading your book before you get it home. They also have a small section of books for sale for those reads that are just too good to give back!

Birchfield Library functions more as a community centre and internet provider than as a library. As a place to study, however, it is lacking. There is no area available with tables and chairs and the book selection is seriously lacking. The librarians are very helpful and kind but for traditional library services i.e. the lending of book Birchfield Library not the best place to visit.
