The amount of information on offer is staggering, any location or venue of cultural significance is available to take away in leaflet form. I frequently take a detour through the shop so that I can pick up a few current programmes for theatres and art-house cinemas within the area. The entire Yorkshire region is catered for, so any trip can be thoroughly organised with their guidance. The shop also has a range of Yorkshire and Harrogate teas, Grandma Wild's biscuits and other such twee goodies. I am referring to their presence because I have hastily purchased these items on a couple of occasions, ran around to neighbouring Paperchase and successfully presented a relative with a gift, as though it had been wrapped for weeks. This is not advisable, but sometimes unavoidable! Another excellent reason to remember the services of Leeds Visitor Centre is, they are an official vendor of local Ticketmaster events. I am often more popular with some friends and relatives around the end of March, when it is possible to purchase a Leeds Festival weekend ticket without the queues, panic or extortionate booking fees. Their presence in centrally located Leeds train station makes the shop incredibly convenient. With such helpful staff, they are worth investigating if you have lived in Leeds for years, or you are merely visiting for a few days.

Tickets, from theatre to Leeds Festival, are available here - free for the most part, of the extortionate booking fees you find at the established online ticket giants. As well, they cover all bases from places to stay, what's on, help with shopping, eating out tips, nightlife recommendations and information on the local sporting clubs. They charge for wifi 7 pound a day or like 35 for the week. there is NO shuttle to and from the airport. WHICH IS THE REASON I CHOSE THIS HOTEL. You have to call a taxi and pay 9.30 pound. The breakfast is extra 10.50 pound and the food was not quality at all. I tried to order lunch and 3 of the items on their menu they didn't even have. Finally they said they had a bacon cheese toaster. It wasn't bacon it was ham. And almost no cheese on it. Huge disappointment. At check in the lady at the desk put pressure on me to buy the breakfast and dinner plan because there was "nothing around" but there really is 3 food establishments walking distance from the hotel.

The bunnies and statues were out of a bad Alice in wonderland nightmare. The shiptons cave witch was your typical witch with the hunch back and mole on her nose... so passé. We went on a slightly rainy weekday. We were one of the only ones there. The waterfall with petrified articles from everyday life reminded me of a serial killers back yard. Highly recommend.

I'd always used The Merrion on grounds of convenience - it is dead central, very close to the main Shopping Area, the Nightlife, and the Financial District; it's handy, too, for Theatreland and other entertainments. Joining Best Western can only mean an improvement in standards, and on this visit I felt this had happenened. The hotel will win no prizes for architecture or ambience, being a utilitarian tower block. But every time it wins on location, whilst providing decent creature comforts at sensible prices (book online at RatestoGo for the best deals). It is situated on the Inner City Loop Road, which means you can be ib the hotel less than 10 minutes after leaving the M-Way; it is right alongside a multi-storey carpark, joined to it by a 15-metre walkway - so no parking problems.

However once inside the reasonably priced hotel you will realise just how big the hotel is. With 2 lifts to all the different floors you will be shocked by the size of the room. Very spacious with a large bathroom including a bath tub and a shower. a dressing table, large wardrobes, a desk, wi-fi access, a very big comfy bed, flat screen tv, hair drier and much more this hotel really does tick all the boxes. Just a moments throw from shops, pubs, bars and restaurants this place ticks all the boxes.

And if you need to get somewhere quick or in incredible style they can sort out chartering an aircraft for you. There is a little cafe bar on site here which is a little gem, great if you are an avaiation enthusiast as it gives you a view right across the runway of Leeds Bradford airport and you can often see the air ambulance helicopter (from BBC1 Helicopter heroes) coming and going as thier base is just around the corner.

The Comfort Inn is located on Bishopgate Street in the centre of Leeds and is popular with tourists…read more(not hen and stag do's, more Christmas shopping tourists or even festival goers), business travellers and parents (of students, around graduation time). It is classed as a budget chain hotel somewhere along the lines of the Premier Travel Inn and serves it's purpose very well. The prices vary, you can pick up early bird bargains of B&B for as little as £19 a night but the average is £39 - £50. The rooms are maybe a little boxy but they are more than adequate, they are clean, with functional bathrooms, good showers and with complimentary shampoos and soaps. Towels are changed daily. Staff are very polite indeed, very friendly, moreso than some of the high end hotels I have been to in the city centre. The food is excellent, breakfast comprises of continental or full English, both are to a high standard and most enjoyable. The evening meals available in the restaurant are more than adequate - not haute cuisine but for the money they are a good place to eat if you aren't wanting to spend a bomb or if you are a business traveller with limited time (or you don't want to get lost in the city!). I would recommend the Comfort Inn as it certainly is comfortable, in a good location with parking, and close to all local amenities.

Outstanding hostel in York that has a good location (about a 10 minute walk from the train…read morestation), excellent customer service, comfortable beds, and wi-fi that worked well. Other amenities they have are laundry (5-6 pounds as I recall), a bar, free coffee/tea all day, UK adapters at the front desk and a decent breakfast for 1 pound donation to charity. The price for this hostel is good and if you go to their website directly and click on special offers they had a an additional discount. Minor negatives are no lift/elevator and they did not have someone at the desk 24 hours a day. Overall, an excellent hostel that I would recommend.
