Ummm... highly disappointed…read more We came specifically for the 805 Night Market after seeing the advertisements online, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. Based on the marketing, I was expecting something much larger--more along the lines of FoodieLand--with a wide variety of vendors, entertainment, and food options. Instead, there were only around 20 vendors, and several of them were selling nearly identical items. The food we tried was underwhelming, especially considering the prices. The carnival-style games were also expensive for what they offered. The live band had plenty of energy, but the performance was noticeably off-key, which took away from the atmosphere. To make things even more awkward, there were two baby showers happening at the venue at the same time, making the event feel crowded in all the wrong ways rather than like a dedicated night market. Customer service from the staff also left a lot to be desired--they weren't particularly welcoming or helpful. I was also hoping to see more creativity from the non-food vendors, but many of the booths felt repetitive and lacked originality. Overall, this event didn't meet my expectations, especially after the way it was advertised. I won't be returning next year and will be sticking with FoodieLand instead.

We skipped the main food stalls this time, but my son got some Dippin' Dots, and my husband and I enjoyed a nice cold beer .The absolute highlight of our visit was the petting zoo. They had a mini donkey, a baby cow, and a llama . I completely skipped feeding the llama because it had some seriously big teeth and I didn't feel comfortable getting that close! However, I did feed the goats, the baby cow, and the mini donkey.The mini donkey absolutely loved me, maybe a little too much! By the end of it, it was following me everywhere and literally headbutting my back for more food. My son and I were definitely ready to head out after that because we were starting to get cornered in by the bigger animals lol. Overall, a super fun, memorable couple of hours!

I see my first for year 2017 has twenty nine votes. The Wednesday, I ask at the check in desk. They look up for me. The parade at ten am and the ceremony is one pm. Okay so the Thursday, get to the area nine fifty one am, not bad. The event, they are setting up. The parade actually started ten forty am. There is a place, think is their own business. They have a barbecue grill. They are selling hot link sandwiches, chili cheese dogs, hamburgers. After the parade, there is maybe fifty minutes before the ceremony begins. I get the hot link sandwich, comes with choice pork and beans or fries. I pick the pork and beans. There is presenting of the colors. I talk with a Navy person, ask if he knows my Navy man. He says he is age eighty two, I say, "Ah, he is age forty four. No wonder you do not know him. You are if I doing the math right, thirty eight years above us," he says yes. Another her shirt says Marine Grandmother. There are four of us, we all agreed those athletes that able to stand yet intentionally lock arms and not stand. We all agreed the lady I met one year at the airport, she was in a wheelchair, obvious she cannot to stand, yet showed more respect by taking off her hat, bowed her head, hand on her heart. Okay, presenting of the colors. Then yes, the National Anthem. The lady that sang it, I heard she is new USA citizen, three months earlier, from Jamaica. The different speeches. One speaker is Mayor of Sacra, I apologize if I spell the name wrong. It is no longer Kevin Johnson, tall, African American. The Mayor of Sacra now seems be a person, sounded as Dale Steinberg, short brown hair. Many speeches. Then the wreath. On this wreath they placed thirteen ornaments for the thirteen American Military that were killed in Kabul, Afghanistan. My sympathies to those families. Yes Armistice Day then year 1954 they changed the name to Veteran Day. A group of school children, Spanish is their native language, yet when they did the different Military songs, they did very good job. When they sang Anchors Away, yes I stood. Happy 2021 Veteran Day to all. Thank you Sir, for your noble service in USA Military. Thank you Ma'am, for your noble service in USA Military. Thank you to my Navy man, age forty four, for your noble service in USA Navy. May God bless all our Military whether active or retired, and their families.

Pretty well organized, parking wasn't bad at all and we worked out for a good cause!…read more Pre-registration and packet pickup before the race was extremely helpful and easy! The 10K course was easy to navigate and there were tons of people, homeowners along the course giving out water, mimosas and bloody Mary's! Music throughout the course was fun, inspiring and upbeat! Nothing like running through the beautiful homes along the fab 40s, through east sacramento, past McKinley park and back up to Sacramento State. A great event for the whole family! Will be doing this race every year!

Let's be honest, there needs to be more laid back, chill festivals like this in Sacramento…read more The weather happened to be perfectly sunny and cool and Southside Park was a perfect setting for this event. A multitude of vendors supporting healthy living, ways to go green, and all around natural alternatives to most things we take for granted. Yeah, there were hippy dippy things too, including healers, conspiracy theorists, and dealers of all things crystal, but overall this is definitely a fun festival, with lots to see and crafts for purchase. Tons of shade and picnic tables, plenty of eats, including a Mexican stand with all vegan options and amazing fresh lemonade. Yum. I'm making a point to come back next year for sure.

Not so hippie...some vendors are accepting wireless payments even. And they've done away with the "rent" for plates and utensils. You just get them now and are shockingly (not really) expected to return them. You know, like civil people and stuff. "Now that I live in Davis again" blah blah blah it hasn't changed one bit. Gimme a break. It's okay as a once a year takeover of the quad but no one is really all that disappointed when it's gone. All the vendors really want to do is make a buck off of you. Yay capitalism. It is nothing more. There is nothing that says "bE KinD" to the planet anymore like there used to be. It's a new Davis and it's fairly sad. Way to go.

Tonight 15 local restaurants were battling it out for the prestigious title of Sacramento Burger…read moreBattle 2015! This event was held at Cesar Chavez Plaza in down town Sacramento. Proceeds from this event are donated to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. "LET THE BURGER BATTLE BEGIN"!!! This epic event is a "Burger Lovers Paradise!" Can you imagine tasting 15 of Sacramento finest burgers! Our competitors were (Blue Prynt, Low Brau, Devere's , Dojo, Dad's, Iron Grill, Bacon & Butter, Mighty Tavern, Dawson's, New Sloughhouse Inn, Krush Burger, Capital Garage, Pangaea Brie Cafe, Culinerdy Cruzer, Broderick). Each and every competitor brought something different to the table, so it was important to try all 15 before entering your vote for your favorite burger! I have to congratulate every competitor here tonight . All the burgers were culinary masterpieces. They looked like pictures from a magazine! Personally my 3 favorites were Broderick, Pangaea Brie Cafe, and New Sloughhouse Inn. There were at least a dozen local wine and beer breweries here tonight.(Revolution Wines, Andis Wines, Golden Coast Wine, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Yolo Brewing Co, Sierra Nevada, New Glory Craft Brewery, Rubicon Brewing Co, ect...........plus Barsotti Natural Juices, Silk Road Soda, plus many more! Make sure you leave a little room for dessert! (Cookies & Milk) offered 6 different samples of delicious cookies ! " Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Sugar Cookies, Chocolate Crinkel, Peanut Butter, plus one more flavor. (Pushkin's Bakery) sampled their "Mud Pie Cookie) and the best for last (Bakers Donuts) with all of their delicious donuts. To go with the donuts, Peet's Coffee offered free coffee drinks from their mobile unit . Live entertainment was provided by (Four Guys From Reno). This event was all you can eat and drink! And for ADULTS ONLY!! It is highly recommended to purchase the "VIP" tickets because you are allowed to enter an hour before the general public and also are given a free parking ticket for the parking structure right across the street! Tonight was a night to remember! All the competitors fought hard for the title of Sacramento Burger Battle 2015. For all you burger "LOVERS" out there, this is a must event to experience ! Great event to support the CCFA. There were so many burgers to try I couldn't get to all of the…read morebooths. Fortunately the lines weren't too long so the wait was very short and the event was not overly crowded. We took an Uber to the event so parking wasn't an issue but there is a parking structure next to the park. My favorites were Krush Burger and de Vere's Irish Pub. They had a caprese burger - very unique! In addition to the burgers, beer, cider, and wine they had desserts. Delicious donuts from Bakers Donuts and awesome cookies from Cookies and Milk. Can't wait for next year's event!
