Nasty attitudes, poor customer service, no return phone calls, stolen deposits, etc, etc, etc. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY N THEIR AFFILIATE AKA JAKTHAN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother and I rent @2061 S.E. 38th Street Ocala, fl. 34480. We started renting on October 1,2018. One month after we started renting we had a water problem. So every 30 days if you don't change the well filter and scrub the other filter on the pump you will literally have no water. There are 3 sets of sliding glass doors on this home. Every set the door handle had to be removed to put on the sliding door we use because the track is so damaged it's hard to open and close the door, so they all have broken. I had a leak under the sink in kitchen and contractor came out and had me clean up the sump under my counter because he didn't have his shop vac. I have 13 windows and can only open 2 because 1 won't open, and only 2 windows have screens. The lights in the ceiling in den by fireplace comes on and off. The electrical outlets in the house, too many of them don't work. The air conditioner constantly freezes up, so when you call them or put the work order in they come out and tell you because we aren't watching them that the line is clogged(which it isn't) and charge us a $100.00 every time. What it is, it really needs Freon. Now the big one.The house is 46 years old and the septic hasn't ever been pumped. So they had their unqualified contractor come out after telling them it's the septic and sends a plumber. He doesn't snake my house properly and breaks my toilet, tile, and scratches master bathroom tile floor. He calls out another associate for help, they leave 5 hours later and bill me for $595.86. YEAH an hour later it's backed-up again. Now at the office of Touch Stone Realty their answer was, get this " It's not our problem". So I called Modern Septic and Plumbing. When they came out and finally got the lid opened they were enraged. They told us this has NEVER been pumped. After 3 or 4 hours they left. We are back to cleaning up again. It backs up again. Now I call Mike Scott Plumbing and between opening up the septic again and snaking the house the proper way(from spare bathroom to Master bathroom) they finally got the pipes unclogged. Modern Septic and Mike Scott Plumbing I would recommend to anybody. They are both great companies and really great people. The clog was that bad. Now we have paid our rent every month and never ever missed a month since 10/1/2018. We took $576. off of our rent payment and sent it in for October. So now get this, they are EVICTING us or TRYING. I have all documentation. I have even went as far as code enforcement , which you have to email because we are in the county and that is handled through Tallahassee. So I have ordered a court hearing. Now get this, they had a hearing on 12/22/2021@ 8:30 a.m. and we never knew about it so that is why we are in eviction so to speak. So now I had to file a motion to stay and ask for another court hearing. Maybe I will get this one. So today again I'm going to pay $1300.00 to the courts and see what happens from there. I'm posting this because I would hate to ever see another individual go through what we have been through. So you ask why are we still in this house? Well they have $2,850.00 of our deposit. We are all law abiding citizens, very quiet, and respectful people. My mother is a care giver and I have been a manager all my life and we are both stunned and shocked about all this. Horrible. Properties are not kept clean and stay in a state of disrepair. Had to vacate the property due to contracting Covid, even though I provided them with valid doctor's notes and hospital invoices, they stated they were keeping my security deposit even though the property was cleaner than it was when I moved in, and that I was responsible for more rent when I was no longer living in the property, and even refused to let me get a few jackets I left in a closet when I moved out. I would HIGHLY advise against doing business of any kind with this company. This company is scum, bottom of the barrel. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Be careful. Building code enforcement violations on rental properties that are not being repaired. They have a "Tenant Agreement" sheet as an "Addendum " to the Rental Agreement that allows them to break your original lease agreement without notice. We were given an incentive agreement and after two years of being good tenants, it was no longer being offered. No notice. We were given 10 days to make up the non-incetive money. I guess they are in the business for money, but treating good tenants poorly will, eventually deplete your renters pool to only desperate vagrants. read more

Touchstone Reality has been our landlords for 3 years. They are great. No seriously.. Our ac went out when it was super hot a couple months ago. I emailed them (a few times) . I was so hot and pretty much was losing my mind so i kept e-mailing them freaking out. Needless to say Touchstone didnt get mad or unprofessional with me. She had the ac guy out here 1st thing the next morning. I was so grateful I cried. Haha. I would definitely rent from them again. Thank you for the last 3 years. If I could give less than one star I would. Very rude staff. Do not seem interested in showing properties. Avoid and go with another agent.

If there was a not worth it, I would go with that option. The staff is pretty rude and unprofessional, but it seems like they are bothered by having to speak to people. Angela never answers her phone and leaving a voicemail is pointless. Even without yet meeting them you get the nagging slumlord feeling. If you can find an awesome rental with a homeowner who doesn't use Touchstone should definitely go for it instead. Their website doesn't even have the residences they're listing, it links to a pdf and then you have to do your own search. Better off taking your business elsewhere so you don't have to deal with the lack of communication for a year. read more

After finding properties that I was interested in, I called this realtor for an inspection. After calling more than 7 times, speaking with someone in the office who said they'd call back (on a Thursday around 1pm, the first time), I waited to hear from them until late on Friday (3pm-ish) and called back. No answer, I left a message. Saturday, thinking I'd find someone available to show a property during the weekend (seeing as how they must be part time with this, because they didn't call back during normal business hours), I left another message. So, after driving around and looking at other properties on Saturday, I come up with another property and call again (later that day...maybe someone's available- is there a call forwarding to a cell??). In any case, I call again a couple of different times on Monday, and after leaving two messages, I give up. Wednesday morning, I call one last time. This time, I get another live person! They tell me Marti isn't available (again) and I tell them I want to see a couple of properties they represent, and that I've called 7 times, and that I really am getting upset that all I want to do is see if this is someplace I need to consider, or cross off of my list. They inform me that she isnt available, and that they need to know which property I want to see, but that I have to first come and fill out an application (and pay them to do so), just to see a property. So, I tell them, "sorry, I'm not filling out an application to look at the inside of a house that I may or may not even like". Bottom line is these properties have been available since January (it's May), and they are still available. It's no wonder. They don't return phone calls. read more

Terrible realty company. Set an appointment over text with Amanda to see a rental. She delayed the showing five days to fit her schedule. She promised that I was the first person scheduled to see the property. One hour before the showing she text saying someone else had rented the property. So I think that she showed it to someone else, lying to me that I would be the first to see it. Then three weeks later, the listing is still active AND the rent has been reduced. Drove by it and the property is still empty. It was never rented. Totally unprofessional. Completely dishonest. Seriously considering filing a complaint with the Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are a scam and unworthy of anyone's business. I cannot say it enough. They are crooks they stated that they evicted me but I paid all monies and they put a writ of possession on me even though my license was for the end of May 30th. I did another motion and judge grated it. I moved out and I want my security deposit. Yes I paid my rent late but it was paid and they wanted to make me pay another month. Judge told them left her stay and renew her license and they STATED NO. I passed by property they did not do anything to it not even cut the grass. read more

The worst rental agency I've ever dealt with. They will avoid your calls. when you do get a hold of them they're rude. They seem nice until you sign the lease. I'm not even going to get into the details of how they treated me. If you have an appliance break or your water pump go out it will take weeks to get someone to your home. After I moved out they wouldn't answer my call in order to get my deposit back. We left a clean and empty house. You will regret signing a lease from this place. read more

The person who answers the phone is the absolute worst. Don't know if the rest of the company is terrible, but the way I was treated doesn't make me want to find out. It seems they hold the monopoly on affordable duplex rentals in Ocala, but won't give you anything but vague information on them until they've extracted an application fee from you. I've never been asked to fill out an application before I've even viewed a place before, let alone before I've had my questions answered. Honestly, if I could give them a zero star rating, I would. SCUMlords at their finest. Horribly rude women who work there. Also snotty when answering calls. Does not take care of their rentals at all, in fact will make you pay up to $250 in repairs before they do anything. Never been late on payments. Clean quiet tenants and all they do is raise the rent year after year. Their tenant portal is a scam piece of crap designed to mess up your payments. only gave them one star because it wouldn't allow no stars. The company is horrible and VERY unprofessional. They wont let you even read the lease until all money is paid. Everything is informal. You cannot speak with anyone in person, they rarely answer the phone, and take forever to return messages. I was there almost 6 weeks with no hot water, no heat and no AC. Not to mention when I got there the fridge was rotten and stinking up the unit. It was an abandoned building that they threw tenants in. I tried to call code enforcement but they could not get involved. I also was about to set up an escrow account but luckily all you need to break the lease is a 30 day notice so I got out! RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! I called to ask a few question's and could not even get a word in and was abruptly hung up on . I looked up a few rentals properties that they had online and I can tell they don't care about the up keep of their properties .Money hungry ! Why would I do an application and pay a fee on a home that I have not viewed from the inside out . My advice is to stay patient and diligent in your home search because their are good realtors and private owners out there! read more

I am absolutely shocked by the behavior of the staff! I called about rentals and had a few questions. I spoke with Marti Winfield and she was incredibly rude. When I asked about the rental application she quoted a memorized paragraph. When I asked another question she simply repeated herself. I explained that yes I understood all of those things and had a different question she said "whatever" and "whatever you say". I finally gave up and went to Google to find that NO I did not need to go to the office and deal with her. Everything I needed to know from the application to the list of available rentals is available online. She said a lot of useless stuff; nothing helpful. It seems that she is "too good" to deal with the rentals. I believe that if I was calling to buy a house she may have behaved differently. I now know to stay away from these people. read more

The property manager Marti was so rude. I called from out of area to make an appointment to view a rental property. She hung up on me before I could finish asking my questions. I called back and she was just as rude. I asked to speak with the supervisor and she stated that she was the supervisor. I would not recommend the company . Customer Service is important.. read more

If you can avoid working with Touchstone Realty I would recommend you stay far away. They are extrememly impersonal. Lead by Marti, it is a terrible organization. They don't care for their renters at all. We rented from them for several years because we had no choice and I am so thankful that we will no longer have to give them a single penny.
