I am an 80-year-old woman and loyal customer of the Eagan Total Wine, and I have always had excellent service there. However, they did not have the product I wanted, so I ordered it from Bloomington. At Eagan, everyone is so nice and helpful, and I can call and have them bring my order out to me However I didn't see a place outside where I could call, so I went inside. I went back to the order desk. I waited for an employee, When he came, he got my order, but there were no carts nearby, so I had to walk back out to the entry and get a cart. At Eagan, they are always to helpful and offer to take the cart out for me and load it in my car. Not at Bloomington. I was on my own, and the box was quite heavy. I could have asked for help, but I assumed it was the same excellent service at all Total Wine stores. I went there today only to hear an employee talking about how "if someone doesn't agree with tariffs they should leave this country" with his colleague. When I looked over he loudly yelled "am I right?!" I understand differing political views but it was unprofessional for an employee to be talking like this while at work. With all of the stock they had, they did not have my White Russian by Kahlua that I adore having at hime for a quick drink at night. You can taste alot of the drinks or sample if you will. Got a craft beer delivery from this place and all the beer and seltzer arrived warm! Unheard of. I like to open a can as soon as the transaction is done not 30 minutes later when it's properly chilled. The bigger problem is that craft beer is mainly unpasteurized which means it often needs to be kept at a constant chill. The IPA we got tasted of yeast not hops so we just had to pour it down the drain and order from another store the next day. A chain liquor worth hundreds of millions should do much better and at least know the rudiments of their products' storage. I give 3 stars because if it's wine you want obviously they have that covered and it doesn't require temperature control to stay drinkable usually. read more

I have learned that this is the place to find what you need, no matter how obscure it might seem. I was looking for Cutwater Tequila canned drinks. Upon entry to the store a lady greeted us and asked if we wanted wine samples. If I'd not been operating on an empty stomach, I might have done so. Another young lady asked us if we wanted to try a beer, I believe it was Summit. I don't really drink beer, so even a full stomach wouldn't get me to try it. Anyway, I was also looking for a Scottish whisky, which we found here. It was pretty easy to find both of the things for which we were looking. The staff who approached us were nice and didn't bug us after we stated that we didn't need any help at that time. I like that the store is well lit, cleaned, and organized. I have not been challenged to find anything, whatever it might be. The only reason I don't get things delivered is because I don't need that much and it's not cost effective for me. Of course being a big chain store the "little guy" liquor stores are hurting some. However, they do have almost anything your looking for, as well as a lot of local craft beer and liquors. They also have a huge selection of mini bottles. One added benefit of a chain store is the prices are not marked up like those smaller local liquor shops. On the down side their customer service is not always great. For example, one time I had bought some booze and after leaving the store and driving all the way home I realized I was missing a bottle. The checker had bagged a bottle separately from the other things I purchased and then didn't hand me both bags as I left. When I got home I called the store and they had already placed my bottle back on the shelf, I guess they wanted to make double the money on one bottle. In the end I did get my bottle though, thanks Total. I also never go by their recommendations, the staffs tasting notes and palates are way off to me. I'm sure not all the staff have bad palates, but it seems to me they are just pushing what's on sale. Anyway, I'm still giving four stars for convenience and low prices. read more

I understand protocols and watching out for people. But the discrimination was very obvious being followed around the store. I could hear the employees talking about me and my friend as we told him we didn't need help with anything, appreciatingly. It doesn't matter if we look young, but saying "watch out for them," to another employee was very odd and didn't give whatever security it was supposed to; it made us uncomfortable. Once we got to the register, we presented the man with our ID's. As he handed them back we told him our purchases were separate; and he cut us off frantically saying "Im just checking for who the youngest is." Which was also very odd and discomforting.. It ruined my friends first experience there, as it was my fifth time coming back there. His frantic reaction made my friend scared; as we could see the other employee pacing near us like he was preparing for something. I will never be returning to this location ever again. Maybe the cashier had social anxiety or was uncomfortable under the situation. But the following all ruined our night from a simple shopping experience. read more

Quick stop a TW for a 12 of Schells Firebrick. Not a connoisseur but i like Firebrick. No bottles only cans. No good. OK 6 or 12 of MGD bottles No good. No regular Mich in bottle except 24 or lite. If you want light beer of dozens of brands in cans, they can help. Only six pks i saw were lite. Hundreds maybe 1,000s of craft beers. But if your taste in beer is simple and domestic, you're at the wrong place. Since they moved I get a little lost, need to go more or maybe less. This place is like a candy store but for grownups, and you will literally not find cheaper prices for wine, beer and liquor in the whole state of Minnesota. Every trip in here I find something new and interesting to try. This place has basically anything you could ever want from a liquor store, and them some: Grey Goose? They got it $10 cheaper than anywhere else. Every single type of beer ever in existence? Yep, and then a few you've never heard of. More types of wine then I could drink in a year? More like drink in a lifetime. Giant bottles of wine for people with livers of steel? They have jugs and jugs. Rare vintage wines? Only if you've got $1500 burning a hole in your pocket. The Holy Ale, named after the Monty Python movie? I guess my father does smell slightly of elder berries. I cannot understate enough that this place is the cheapest liquor store you will find anywhere in the state. They offer free samples at two separate wine and beer tables, and many local breweries also step up additional tables with their beers samples. The store is extremely clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I've had them introduce me to too many new wines to count. Most things are well stocked, but sometimes their deals are so good that the store sells out quick, I've seen this on several occasions, and if this sadly happens to you the wonderful staff will always help recommend something similar. And frankly, some needed competition for our local liquor stores that have kept prices up, managed to stay closed on Sundays, etc. If you are looking for common brands, their prices are usually better than the best sale price you would see at another store. They have a huge selection (with the potential exception being white blends, only one 4 foot section). They sell a broad variety of liquor and beer, albeit the pricing here isn't quite as sharp but still pretty good. The staff has to take something like 100 hours of training on wine, so they are very knowledgable and eager to help with your selection. read more

In the past few years, PA government is slowly catching up to other states that have eased their laws regarding alcohol and beer. That's why I was excited to have found one of these stores in Charlotte, NC, last September. Here I am in Minnesota and find another Total Wine store. This company has well designed stores, mind boggling selections, high end and economically priced products and friendly sales associates. I like the idea that there special events and wine tastings held at the stores. I was looking for a certain Italian Moscato and the young man knew immediately the brand I wanted (which I can't seem to buy at my local PA wine & liquor store). He also suggested a few other similar wines for me to try. The store was quite busy but I was able to check out fairly quickly. It would be great to have access to such stores where I live. This Place has just about everything, and is cheaper than Chicago prices (of course).The only other place I've seen like this is Benny's Beverage Depot, here in Chicago. Mornings when they're restocking, it can be difficult to get around and get help. Today I had a frustrating experience. There was a short wait to check out but I had only two small items so I thought I'd breeze through. My cashier never once smiled at me, although she did greet me. After my total came up and I'd inserted my card, I had to wait for the sale to be processed because the CASHIER WAS TEXTING ON HER CELL PHONE!!! I had to wait for her to finish her important personal work before I could leave. I said "thank you" but she did not say "you're welcome" nor did she thank me for coming in.
